UK, Ireland / Polish Citizen living in Britain to marry Brazilian [6]

i dont know for sure, but if you are not a British citizen then I dont think that being married to you will entitle him to any rights whatsoever to enter and remain in the UK, particularly as you say that you dont have permanent residency.. although I dont know what that means because since you are now in the EU, you have the right to remain. Why was he refused entry before? I hope you are getting married for love and not for him to get into Britain, cos if thats the case then I would think again.

Work / Im thinking about moving to Poland and need advice on teaching english [18]

I'm sure this has been asked a zillion times, but can anyone tell me how easy it is to find work as an English teacher in Poland (are any towns/cities easier than others?) and what is the average wage? is it better to go freelance or work for a company.. and do you need a TEFL or is it enough to have a degree and some experience? Is this the best paid work for a non Polish speaking foreigner? any advice welcome. thanks.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

thanks for sharing your experiences with us JayUK. I have lots of friends who have been through similar.. which is why I was making the point that most people would not choose to be gay, given the **** that they often have to deal with.. they just are. As for Jareck, I reckon he is in-line to become the next Jerry Springer.. I did see one once where a woman married a horse.

News / There is no Muslim in Poland [116]

i dont think racism stems from jealousy.. as for lack of understanding of humanity, isnt that the same place that homophobia comes from? You seem to be contradicting yourself somewhat.

Life / Why do poles drink & drive? [82]

jareck.. why are you randomly attacking different nationalities... you mention Swedish people having abortions.. wtf has that got to do with drink driving??? and who cares what Portuguese people drive like. Lets face it, there are reckless drivers all over the world, I dont think the Polish are are more likely to drink and drive than the English, but maybe they do it in other countries more where the laws arent as strict as in Poland?

.Shelley, I would like to say that I, as a British person.. do enjoy a drink with dinner, but since I dont drive thats not a problem...and at least I know what my bf is doing now when he says he's going for a walk in the park.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

all of a sudden in the uk there are so many gays.. the reason being 'we are more tolerant' this will come to poland soon not becasue being gay is natural but becasue we are going away from what is right....

there have always been gay people in the world, its just in some countries they are forced to live a lie and often get married and have kids, whilst repressing their true sexuality or having affairs on the side.. and all because it is not acceptable to their fellow countrymen.. in extreme cases they live in fear of death. As I said earlier this is not a trend or choice.. it is something that you cannot fight. I was kind of joking when I said about gay couple's children being more rounded individuals.. Im not saying they are better, I just meant better at dealing with the inevitable taunts that they will suffer, which will ultimately make them strong. Anyway, I realise that I cannot change your strong homophobic stances, all I can do is offer my humble opinion.

more fundamentalist claptrap.. There is no evidence that I know of that suggests children brought up by gay couples are not as well adjusted as those raised by heterosexuals.. if anything they are likely to be more tolerant and therefore become more rounded individuals. Maybe the above poster hasnt considered that being gay is not a lifestyle choice!

UK, Ireland / Polish woman shot in London. [57]

I'd just like to say that Ive lived in London for the past 18 years.. and definitely in some of the less salubrious areas, such as Dalston, Brixton etc... Never, in all this time have I been shot, stabbed or even so much as mugged or robbed. Dont believe all this scare mongering.. its just a question of what you are used to. This was a tragic accident that could just as easily have happened anywhere in the world to anyone of any nationality.

UK, Ireland / Polish teenager murdered after arriving in UK [117]

the girl shot last week also in london

In case anyone is wondering, this was unfortunately a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.. she was an innocent passer-by who got caught in cross-fire. Absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she happened to be Polish. I live in London and yes, we have street crime and certain areas are more dodgy than others.. but dont let that put you off visiting or indeed living here. I believe there is more violence in suburbia (quiet towns) than there is in any City centre.. too many bored teenagers with nothing to do.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

I also don't think Poles share the same sense of humour as the Brits. You have to have something you relate to and that goes for any relationship and Brits and Poles are a distance apart in many ways.

have you ever had a relationship with a Pole? If not, then who are you to comment on this? As a Brit with a Polish partner I find plenty to relate to.

Life / What do Polish people think about Turkey? [52]

I just came back from Turkey.. its a lovely place. they are already using the Euro and most people want entry to the EU. Personally I dont want them in as I wont get my cheap duty free any more :) Other than that, I have no problem with it. I came across some Turks who know some Polish from meeting Polish tourists there.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

I think British men have more understanding with their own women and to be frank, only desperados will marry a foreigner.

its precisely that kind of attitude that would make me much rather marry a foreigner than a Brit.

Spending money is a tallent all women have and is not restricted to nationalities

...and there are plenty of women who work hard for their money and dont need a man to support them financially.

Food / Beer and syrup - tastes better! [48]

i think you should be able to drink beer however you like.. I saw my bf mixing beer and coke the other day, I thought it was strange, but it wasnt bad actually. I like the sound of the vanilla syrup, might try that. Has anyone tried crushed garlic in beer? its an acquired taste but not bad either

Life / Condoms and the Catholic church in Poland [83]

They may not protect 100%, but it is a lot safer to use a condom than not, not just for HIV, but other STDs too. Anyone who advocates otherwise is simply ignorant or has other motives (as in the case of the Catholic Church) All condoms have to be tested to a certain safety level so if they are used correctly they are effective. In Africa all hotels provide free condoms, they are placed on the bedside table or in the drawer and always on top of the bible...guess there is a kind of irony there.

I feel equipped to discuss this issue as I work on HIV projects with various churches.
