News / Will Democratic US abandon Poland to Russia and Germany? [23]

It really sounds like a dictatorship which tells their people where to go and what to do

Not exactly. What I propose is unlimited travelling in Eastern Europe, to boost their tourism industry, while also having some freedom.

Firstly you should be able to speak Polish fluently :) Later you can use "WE".

In case you havn't noticed, I speak, read and write in Polish, fluently. There goes your argument...

good luck with that comrade

Thanks.

Continue to trade, but not within the European Union's framework. Stop sending its youth to work in the UK and elsewhere, and instead focus on Eastern European economy and strengthen it from the inside.

News / Will Democratic US abandon Poland to Russia and Germany? [23]

Poland should themselves abondon all ties to the U.S, and begin a pro-Russian diplomatic stance. As soon as Katyn wounds will be healed, which they soon will be with a formal Russian admitance of genocide. Obama will be seeking to further U.S involvement in European politics, and it will only be a matter of time before Poland will be left to the wolves and abondoned. That is why she should go to Russia's side as soon as possible. Sever all ties with the west. Russians are ready to move on, Poles should move on as well, without ever forgetting their past. It is a very fair scenario.

History / Sarmatia Europe - Could it be political reality? [183]

Blame it on the anglo saxon logic I seem to prefer:) and I am in majority on that.

It seems the romantic Slavic mindset is in decline. Soon the Crows of the world will be extinct and we shall live in fear within our own country and ancient territories. We shall lose all touch with our cultures and just be another secular agragate with no identity. Hopefully I will be pushing daisies by then too.

Life / Who drinks more: Poles or Russians? [50]

I knew a Russian man who downed a 750 ml bottle of vodka all in one swig. He was then rushed to the hospital where he immediately had his stomach pumped. Barely escaped with his life.

Be honest, did you miss us ?

It will be a cold day in hell before Turks occupy the Balkans again. Remember that. You would pay dearly for an offensive like this.

News / Polish-Hungarian friendship - reality till today or just a phantasmagoria [144]

yes, for political reasons we are all quite willing and ready to call even our hated enemies 'brothers'

This is irrelevant. What the **** are you smoking? Hungary and Poland have had good relations throughout their existence. They very rarely shifted diplomatic stance.
The fact that the man was offended by being called a Pole is more likely being proud of his heritage, not of some lack of respect for Poland.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

Yes but if they would assimilate then this 'reason' would vanish automatically.

So? Anti-Semitism is born out of their tendency not to assimilate. If they did indeed assimilate into Polish society, intermarried with Poles, began to look after the good of the nation instead of the good of their own, then yes, Dmowski and other anti-Semites would simply have nothing to argue about and we would not be having this discussion right now. As it stood, they really could care less about the welfare of the nation, as long as it gave them a setting and enough resources to operate their business from. Can hardly blame them though, if they became too wrapped up in Polish politics and culture, they would certainly lose their indentity. Thats what happens when you lack a motherland to look back upon.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

I agree, thats why I say that in the opening sentence...
The Adolf Hitler comparison I make to attract posters. You see? I attracted you.

Anyway, I believe his rational and scientific outlook was useful in Poland, and its a shame that he did not command more power.

distrusted Jews because many of them did not assimilate and opposed Poland regaining independence

This distrust was born out of something more than just that. Dmowski saw what a toll the Jews were taking on society and the economy. What other country in Europe at that time didn't have a middle class made up of its own ethnic citizens? This was Polands weakness, and they are still paying for it today.

I think this is his best quote:
"A little salt may improve the taste of the soup, but too much will spoil it."

News / Why is Tusk still Polish PM? [67]

Poland is Radosław Sikorski (current foreign affairs minister)

And why do you think that?
Not saying he is a bad choice, all in all, there aren't many other pools to choose from.

News / Polish-Hungarian friendship - reality till today or just a phantasmagoria [144]

Serbian army and border police were prepared to stop the Americans but when our commanders sow Polish flags, they decided to retreat to avoid conflict with them

Can you forward the link? This is very interesting stuff.

m curios is it Polish public informed about it

I did not hear about.

Not really. There was a relatively small number of Huns, Avars and Magyars (a tribal confederation from various parts of the steppes) who moved into an area with a Slavic population.

Hungarians are not Slavs, but as far as non-Slavs go, they are more Slavic than most. Some Slavs, particularly Russians may be just as Slavic, if not less sop than Hungarians, but their language is Slavic. Slavs, however, were never an entirely homogeneous group - their ancestry had always overlapped with neighbouring peoples anyway.

Well said Osiol.

Marek or Shelley, how can you guys explain the fact that Poles and Hungarians have the highest number of R1a? Why is it so hard to grasp the concept that a smaller nomad group from Asia (Huns) moved into Europe, were eventually displaced by Goths, and finally settled in Central Europe, in a largely Slavic area.

How could there NOT be any interbreeding?

You're making it awfully hard for someone to believe you don't care about what I say. (Which you have stated repeatedly)

occupying my time with other languages

Goes to show the respect you have for the country.
