Patriotism in Scotland has become more widespread since the re-opening of the Scottish Government.
St Andrews Day is now a Bank Holiday and the Government fund St Andrews day celebrations. There are a lot more saltires flying on buildings now than there was before.

UK, Ireland / General Maczek's Great Map of Scotland [7]
With November the 11th coming soon I thought it would be apt to post a thread that would remind people about General MacZek. This one is a bit different.
When staying in Scotland the General built a Map of Scotland in his garden. It is made of concrete with the contours and mountains raised. The map sat in a pond, which was then filled with water to represent the sea and lochs.
I am wondering whether there are any other maps like this anywhere ?

Seriously tho - the Chinese and Indians are knocking out really cheap scooters that I think would go down well in Poland. I think there is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to get the PL license for a company such as Tamoretti.

Other way round. Vespa are still made in Europe but in India there is a company ( I think ) called LML who make retro styled scooters that look like Lambrettas for about half the price.
I cant believe how cheap some of the scooters are, on the road for just over £500 !

Travel / Hotels, Hostels and B&Bs in Krakow [28]
I stayed here and would recommend it.
Dont be put off but the building was the gestapo HQ and there is a small museum in the basement.
Premium hostel on Pomorska street is in a safe area close to center of the city,

I would say most are worth it considering the study they have put in, work related stress and knowing you could get sued at any time.

Haven't heard it here in Scotland where fishing used to be a big employer. The Scottish fishing fleet has halved in the last 15 years due to EU restrictions.
Scotland has 8.6% of the UKs population but lands 60% of the UKs fish.
The "Five a Day " slogan is relentless here. Telling you to eat five portions of fruit or vegetables a day to stay healthy.
I'm just curious whether this campaign is run in other member states or Poland is so very special..

How come the banks can screw Joe Public but when they get a rough time the FSA jumps in ?
Looking in to my chrystal ball for this week.......go short on finanacial sector shares..

When abroad, people hear you speak English and assume you are English. I have found that when you state you are Scottish peoples attitudes change for the better and they are a lot more welcoming.
Hopefully this question won't arise in a few years time when Scotland is independent.

Looking in to my chrystal ball for this week.......go short on finanacial sector shares.......they will lose more money tomorrow, small bounce on Wed but close the week down.

Its somewhere you have to visit if you are in the area, but its overated. After you have seen the boats and the Bentleys drive out to stay the night in one of the smaller towns. Somewhere up near Grasse....darn, I am getting jealous.
True, and dont forget that in France you have to pay a toll every now and then on the motorway.

motorways are great for getting from A to B but you miss out on the villages and getting lost part
