Will be working as an account manager in tech sales, have been laid off for a while, originally from Canada.

I will be working under "umowa u pracę", so after tax and rent I will be probably left with 6500zl netto and with rent 2400zl, I'll be at 4000zl net which I'm not sure is enough to live off, but I'm happy I at least have a job that is interesting enough for me and is technical enough as I used to work as a database administrator and developer before this role. My logic is I can then that I can then apply for other jobs with this experience?

If you like the job, that is an important aspect to go ahead with it. If you don't have a lot of professional experience on your resume, you're right that it could be a good opportunity to advance your career in the future. 4K net is good enough if you don't plan on eating in fancy restaurants. Not sure if you have a car, but you may not need it to save on the costs. The easiest way to make money is to save money on things that are not really necessary.

It's about the median wage in Warsaw in total, out of which people pay for accommodation, bills etc. After expenses, you won't be rich but you won't be poor either.

Not sure if you have a car, but you may not need it to save on the costs.

In Warsaw, nobody needs one since the public transport is excellent. I agree with you, the OP should go for it.

Good luck with the job - I think you will do fine on that money and get back on your feet. Might be possible to push that rent down a bit by negotiating - there are quite a lot of empty apartments and wannabe landlords in Warsaw right now.

Nobody would need one in Warsaw.

Yes, that's probably why there are 2.1 million registered cars in Warsaw despite only 1.85 million inhabitants.🤔

in Warsaw

In the Powiaty which include a lot of villages and smaller towns.

In the city nobody needs one unless they live in an out of the way suburb, far from metro, rail or tram.

what about when you want to leave the city? Or do a big shop? Or take your kid to football practice somwhere the tram doesn't run
The majority of people in greater warsaw have a car, there is a reason for this

Get a train.

Or do a big shop?

Order it or get an Uber. Or get some exercise by walking.

We almost never use ours and I'd be happier without it. Especially since the public transport is excellent, driving standards in PL are extremely poor and because parking can be a hassle.

jack., so everyone else must live to your way of life.

Who said that?

This is a discussion forum where people give opinions, make suggestions, answer questions

. You're free to agree, disagree or say something between those, just as others are free to disagree with you.

You must be a real snowflake if you can't handle people disagreeing with you.

Owning a car in a big city like Warsaw is usually not worth it unless you have your own garage and don't have to commute to work every day. If you don't need to save money, it could be fun and often a convenience to have it, but in the case of OP, it is not necessary IMO.

I think telling people what you earn is gross.

Don't worry, it's an online forum and we're on the net.

Because I have a probationary period, I will be at a family friends till the end of the year and will have to live in zbytki/Wawer area. Will be a grind at the start but once they like me I will find a rental closer to the city centre, probably with roommates at this salary so hopefully the commute and winter doesn't kill me mentally lol

Wawer

Wawer's not too bad. If you're in walking distance of the commuter railway line, it's not a bad commute. You might find the traffic uncomfortable though; there's a bottleneck where the road that leads the back way to Rembertów branches off. Over the years, I've spent a lot of time in traffic jams near that junction.
