Many of not most are very nice, not nasty-ass London £5+ a pint pubs, but proper ones.

Can't you see I'm joking here?
No.

Well, maybe you can't see it.

So they can lie about Russia and Putin to more naive suckers...

You'd like my local pubs. That's one thing they do very well over there.

Never deprive Englander of his bacon.

Indeed, Poland needs increased Danish imports of bacon to increase security of English immigrants and tourists.

Only Yorkshire bacon will do.

The English know how to make bacon, but the Poles have probably learned how to make good bacon in the meantime.

Perhaps why Polish uses the English word for the same product.

They're imitating a superior product. Their 'bekon' doesn't have the good bit in. It may as well be Canadian or American stuff. Much worse.

A bit like their use of Gobelin and Travertina when they mean nothing of the sort and saying they work in 'gastronomia' when they peel taters in a canteen

Polish people use boczek more as a seasoning than a meat exchange on its own.... different strokes.

Yorkshire

Hmm

Very difficoult, production of Yorkshire Bacon probably can't be sold in the entire U.K. how could Poland potentially import it then otherwise only in small numbers with high prices? Danish bacon would be the only sensible option as they have a huge export of it already.

There's plenty. And Lincolnshire bacon is edible too.

how could Poland potentially import it

At market value. It's a premium product, many times better than that rank 'bekon' stuff.

They're imitating a superior product.

Ukrainian Salo is the mother of all bacons.

How you British can call that paper-thin, half-crisp, limp excuse for a meat strip "bacon" is beyond me. In Ukraine, they use your bacon to wrap real food in, before throwing it to the dog.

British bacon... pathetic slices of apologetic pork, trembling under a drizzle of brown sauce. A breakfast item. A snack. Something your aunt packs in Tupperware for a train ride to Brighton.

Salo - on the other hand - is a slab of honor. A currency. A spiritual compass, or even... a potential weapon.

Come to think of it, I would rank Italian prosciutto and French poitrine also above the British variety of pork fat.

Bottom line - Ukrainians are gods of pig fat.

It's an evil thing.

paper-thin, half-crisp, limp excuse for a meat strip

You're mistaking it for the nasty-ass American and Canadian stuff.

This is the real thing. I'll be eating it in a couple of weeks, in a seaside hotel with an unlimited breakfast buffet, in my favourite town in the world.

@Mr Grunwald
To make bacon in its British version implemented in Poland, they would have to introduce a market strategy to make it attractive to Poles. After all, there are not enough Brits in Poland to make such imports financially viable. It is a simple matter of demand. WhatSore deliberately present it to be a privilege one group enjoys, while the other is denied, which is something a troll would do. Simple!
I see an opening for WhatSore to open a shop with Brish items not readily available in Poland.

One last reply from me because I really can't let this stand:

It's a privilege Polish 'emigres' enjoy because they flooded the country in large enough numbers that they were able to create a large, entitled and nationalistic enough market that they can have their own brands of BLACK PEPPER (lmao), fruit juice and energy drinks in every decent-sized supermarket on pretty much every highstreet in the country. A privilege they do not recognise whatsoever, with their near-perpetual complaining about a country that (due to their flooding it) gives them a far more pampered and comfortable experience than any minority group enjoys in their native Poland. These are just f*cking facts. Ask yourself if even the Ukrainians, Poland's largest minority, enjoys its own brands of black pepper and fruit juice in the major Polish supermarkets (Biedronka, Dino, Stokrotka, etc). And if the fact that they don't says a lot about the ungrateful, entitled, constantly sh*t-talking Poles in my country.

@jon357 enjoy 'the good stuff' - I am truly jealous. This boczek is absolute sh*t.

@mafketis
They don't give one single solitary sh*t about us being happy in Poland, and they make it ABUNDANTLY clear that this is their country and it's completely set up for them and them alone. Who feels comfortable in Poland except Poles?

I don't think you'd get that though, as a Yank, because they tongue-clean your arses every second you're on their soil, due to their idea that rich and powerful USA (nemesis of communism, hero of freedom) might be the only country in the world slightly better than majestic, perfect Poland, land of the planet's best people.
mafketis  42 | 11529

Who feels comfortable in Poland except Poles?

I do. I'm not Polish and have no Polish ancestry...

as a Yank

Please do not use that derogatory term toward me.

Most people have no idea I'm American until/unless I tell them. And the idea that most Poles look up to Americans is ridiculously dated.
I do have an accent but it's not the type associated with Americans. Certainly mentioning that I'm American did not impress anyone in the tax office or at my family doctor (actually the outpatient clinic in a research hospital).

How I learned to be comfortable in Poland (incomplete list, not in any special order):

-I complained a _lot_.... I mean a _lot_ including elaborate monologues about everything wrong with the country and how I could fix it if they just had the good sense to let me (I will always be grateful that there was no internet at that time).

-I learned the language (that is key... you need to be able to understand the news on tv and navigate the bureaucracy on your own in Polish). It's a rich, interesting language so if you're not going to invest in learning it then just leave now.... (also Poland is much more interesting in Polish than it is in English).

-I realized that the country doesn't exist for me, that no one specifically invited me and that things I didn't like usually were the way they were for a reason.

-I learned how things work and how to get what I want within the system as it existed and not the way I wish it existed (this also helped me realize what things were feasible and what things weren't).

I read your bullshit elsewhere about Brits (apparently including me?) not being able to handle it here because they expect things to be like back home. This is f*cking nonsense and plays on tired, stupid stereotypes itself. We have a hard time because unlike Poles in Britain, we don't have a huge community of our countrypeople, easy access to all our traditional foods (which apparently include Tymbark and f*cking Prymat black pepper), language support in public services, etc - and unlike you Yanks (yeah, said it again) people don't treat us like VIPs because we don't come from the most powerful and wealthy country in the world, leader of pop culture, and so on.

How long have you been here? Your sign-up date says 2008. Wow, you managed to learn Polish over the course of almost 20 years. Big fanfare for Joe Yank over here, let's throw him a parade.

Congratulations btw: you are part of an exclusive club (you and Ironsides) of people who annoyed me enough to come back and stay to post a few more times (as opposed to the Weirdos and Nutcases Club of Paulina and Novichok which made me want to steer clear of this place altogether).

Now I really should go. But I couldn't let that slide from him.

'Prymat black pepper in Tesco' really is epically emblematic of the surreally vast gulf between the amount and depth of sh*t Poles chat about the UK vs how cushy their lives actually are there vs how sh*tty life is for anyone (except maybe Yanks) who isn't a Pole but lives in Poland.

These are just f*cking facts.

These are your feelings, but they distort the facts. The facts are as follows: Many Poles have settled in Britain, where a market economy exists that allows them to spend money on products and services that meet their needs. Therefore, there is no reason for them to feel grateful. Unless, of course, one expects gratitude for the ability to shop freely for whatever they choose.
--
with their near-perpetual complaining about a country

I think you might be overthinking things. Most people there don't complain. However, a few Britons living in Poland tend to voice their frustrations frequently. It's a reality check for you. Even those who have lived in Poland for decades still complain about it from time to time. It's not a big deal; they always come back like a bad penny! Lol!

---
Ask yourself if even the Ukrainians,

It's interesting to note how the British flooded social media with complaints about the influx of Eastern Europeans, particularly Poles. While they attempted to avoid sounding nationalistic, it was clear they were talking negatively about these individuals. They seemed to get quite hysterical over certain issues involving Poles.
Jon made many excuses for them, saying, "Just wait until you have a large influx of foreigners." It seems that now, because Poles are more open, tolerant, and welcoming than the British, there's a tendency to backpedal and praise Ukrainians as a model for immigrants. Really? If they are such paragons of virtue, why don't you take them all in?

In my opinion, the attitude towards immigrants may differ between Poles and Ukrainians because Poles moved to Britain as EU citizens, while Ukrainians came as either economic migrants or refugees. This distinction plays a role in the subconscious views of these groups.

I believe the underlying issues between the British and the Poles stem from a sense of superiority. Britons often believe they are superior to Poles, while Poles may feel equally superior-or at least, equal-to Britons.
The US is vastly superior to Britain in one regard: freedom of speech. In the US, anyone can express their hatred for anyone else they choose. However, this constant expression of hate online can be exhausting. As a result, many Americans display kindness and warmth in real life, despite their online behavior.

In contrast, Brits tend to keep their negative feelings to themselves. This repression often results in lingering bad vibes and passive-aggressive remarks that they believe foreigners won't understand.
----

By the way, there are many undocumented Britons in the US, some of whom work in bars looking for shady individuals( shmodacks) to marry for a green card. Some of them are nice girls, and I feel sorry for them because not all will have a positive outcome.

This is hilarious. I've shown you examples of how Poles talk about the British, en masse, on social media. Show me the hit-piece videos and floods of vile comments vice versa. And btw during the height of British resentment of Polish mass migration, they still didn't talk as badly as I see Poles talking about Ukrainians even now. And when we talk about "passive aggression", what other way is there to describe being quiet and reserved to our faces but pouring out bile all over the internet in videos and comments such as those I have shown you?

Really? Poles have less of a sense of superiority? How can that be, when they find a million different ways to insult us and claim you're better? As in all these videos and comments you've already seen. When are Brits making such videos and such comments in such huge numbers?

Poles have an inbuilt sense of smug superiority and I think it comes from your hardcore Catholicism. You think you are more devout and therefore morally superior and also superior in every other way, too. The national martyr complex supports this: you are the perfect Jesus of the nations because your unequalled suffering parallels his. And so you can look down, smugly and snottily, on all us mortals.

Very funny thing to say when Poles think every country exists for them but their country only exists for them. Poland for Poles, and Britain, and Germany...

Being narrow-minded enough for it to be remarked upon in a country of insular, homogenous Christian conservatives that haven't even given women full reproductive rights must be pretty impressive on my part, btw.

Poles also express dissatisfaction with their own country. It is their God-given right to question everything and everyone, much like Americans do. If you choose to fully trust your authorities and only complain quietly when you disagree, or if you resort to rioting without considering other options, that's your prerogative.
