Hey, I will be in Krakow with 5 friends in their late 40's this weekend. We're looking for unusual things to do, fun activities. All i can find is the usual regurgitated tips, any ideas on usual activities we can do? We're all quite fit and healthy

I happened on this weird little indoor mini-golf/beer place, and it was awesome.

Total BS. No smog at all lately. One day reporting from six weeks ago is not representative of the air quality consistently. You want pollution, try Nowy Targ or Opole, the air will literally burn the inside of your nose while breathing. People burning trash daily.

People burning trash daily.

How many zloty per month does its cost for trash pickup?

Total BS. No smog at all lately.

To say that all smog in Krakow is totally gone is BS and you know it. Yes, they have been trying to clean it up , but to claim NO Smog in Krakow...Hahahaha

No smog at all lately.

Poland is one of the most polluted countries in Europe, breaching EU norms by hundreds of percentage points at the worst times of the year.

Hey, this "Smog Cannon" might do the trick! Or perhaps, stop burning so much coal??

Polock Smog Cannon to the rescue! Hahaha

When were you last in Krakow? I live here. One day of bad smog is not indicative of daily events. Trash pickup costs are minimal and in Krakow, there simply isnt a trash burning issue. In other cities in Malopolski there definitely is, but Krakow can not be judged by air five years ago or air one or two days a month in the winter.

When were you last in Krakow

It was in 2019. Dont get me wrong. I really like Krakow and its a beautiful city and I know they're trying very hard to get it under control.

n Malopolski there definitely is

I seen ppl doing this around Tarzonbreg, plus the coal burning. They are getting natural gas into this area and hopefully all the houses will be retro fitted at some future point in time.

You know we dont burn coal in the US and when I first caught a wiff looked outside and seen the black smoke billowing from the neighbors chimney. It was a cultural shock to me.

So, what is there to do in Krakow durning Winter? Besides pubs. Its a wonderful place during the spring and summer.

*** When I got back to Chicago and opened up my luggage all my clothes had the scent of lingering burnt coal:(

The burning coal is really a very mild smell, its the garbage and plastic burning that produces the dark grey and even orange smoke and puts an acidic flavor in the air. Some cities are incredibly bad. Opole and Nowy Targ are the worst in my opinion.

Krakow in winter? We like going for a drink on Rynek or Kazimierz and sitting outside. People watching is our favorite activity really, in summer as well. Dinning, and finding the small places that most tourists dont find is also an activity. Winter is mild here in my opinion. Museums, art galleries, and other attractions are usually open. The Pinball Museum is one I have not gone to yet.

Amazing how quickly you are adopting local Polish customs. :):):) Yes, it is a common fact that foreigners find Polish culture very attractive.

Its a wonderful place during the spring and summer.

Where you there during the spring or summer when you were on your tour ?

Since you haven't been in Poland in a while, Krakow at night, is worth keeping your eyes opened. Girls yes. Drunk English men and women, drunks in Planty, and wide eye'd tourists. Plenty to see.

Activity #2 is typically involved with activity #1

All of this other nonsense aside. The next time I visit, Krakow is definitely on the list. Its only about an hour and a half from my in-laws town. Those underground bars were a lot of fun and I would love to see this Pinball museum. I used to play all the time as a child.
