The Tatry Mountains have been closed to tourists and mountaineers for the first time in history, due to extreme avalanche hazard and severe conditions on trails. Amasing!

Nope, preventive.

Amasing that is had never happened before. This year`s winter isn`t so much worse than the ones before. I think the Tatry Mountains management took a new course towards bigger safety.

It's rainy day near to Świoujście.

I am extremely glad this winter time has been so rainy and snowy coz we have made up for the droughts in previous years. Water has reached deep into the ground at last. Excellent.

Ice Saints or blackthorn winter phenomenon is called Cold Gardeners or Cold Sophie in Poland. Sophie coz 14 May is the name day for Sophie - Zofia.

This year it isn`t so bad. But I remember 3 years ago when the Cold Sophie damaged half of my young plants like tomatoes or aubergines.

Zimna Zosia! Don't worry, it'll be the three gardeners soon.


If you have a blackthorn bush, don't waste the berries; they make a nice nalewka. In Britain we call it Sloe Gin.

Good thing I don't live in Bavaria. Yesterday there were 87 traffic jams longer than 10 km, with the longest being 55 km.

Weather forecast for mid/late March and early April in my area is very optimistic - wet or snowy almost every day. Thank you, Goddess, for your benevolence. We needed that!
