Poland in photo riddles - part 2

where is it?
Looks like Wrocław to me.
I was thinking that, but TBH a lot of these Polish squares look very similar.
@Joker, Milo, that was why I chose this photo - because tenement houses around the square and near it often look similar in many cities, but at the back of the photo that building on the left looks different - it would be unusual for many cities and towns in Poland.
Joker, it isn't Tarnobrzeg - look at the hight of those tenement houses - those in Tarnobrzeg have less storeys (stories). Buildings around the square and near it in smaller cities and in towns usually look like that and those in big cities are often higher.
Chemikiem and Miloslaw are right - it's Wrocław :) Chemikiem was first, so she solved the riddle!

Wrocław
Yes, the photo's very close to the przęgierz (pillory) that's preserved in the square.

Another riddle:
One drink, two drinks, three drinks, four drinks and the famous general fell. He rose again 10/15 years later, but then he fell again for good in 2018.
It was said...
Not everyone is sung in song, but they will sing for that name. It can rise above the history of legend.

@Paulina/Chemikiem - I'm counting on you two to solve this one ;)
the famous general
From the Soviet Red Army?
Near Katowice?
If I'm right. I'll not say any more...

Near Katowice?
Not near Katowice, no.
@delph, I don't have the time to think about it right now, but is your riddle about a statue of some general? Is it in the Holy Cross mountains area/region?
@delph, the riddle is about the statue commemorating general Karol Świerczewski aka "Walter" in the place where he was killed and the photo was taken in the podkarpackie region.

Bingo :) The riddle refers to his alcohol abuse, while as you say, he was killed at/near that spot. The first statue was built 10 years after his death, while they replaced it with a new one 15 years afterwards. It was torn down in 2018.
The photo itself was taken from the car park where his statue stood in Baligród.
How did you work that one out? :D

I wouldn't have got that one. I saw Paulina's answer and thought it was near the statue of him in Jabłonki. Delph, I think your riddles are as hard as some of Pawians!

Ah, you're also right - I know it as Baligród, but that's the name of the gmina rather than the village!
The second part of the riddle was on some boulder that was located next to the statue - I translated it badly on purpose so it couldn't be googled :)
I've got more to come...

You did well because that's exactly what I tried lol.

Yes ;) But I'll try and make them connected to history, because then at least you've got some idea of what each one is about.

The original is "nie o każdym śpiewają pieśni, lecz to imię opiewać będą. Ono potrafi się wznieść ponad historię legendą" - but I knew a dodgy translation would be better ;)
Next riddle :D
Give us our train station back!

Give us our train station back!
Which is in German hands and mainly serves Ostritz. That is Krzewina Zgorzelecka station which has had its passenger services withdrawn by Polish State Railways.
Bingo :)
Yay! :D That's the second riddle I solved on this thread ;) I should celebrate ;D
How did you work that one out? :D
I translated the second part of the riddle into Polish and googled it :P Wiki page popped up and everything was there ;)
I wouldn't have got that one.
Polish speakers had an advantage with that one, I think...
So, I've decided to post one that's going to be easy for Polish speakers, but I'd like to ask Poles who were born in Poland and people who have been living in Poland for years to abstain from answering this one, because I'm guessing it's going to be too easy (unless, of course, noone else will be able to name all of them).
Riddle 1:
1. Advanced level: what are the names of those goodies in Polish.
2. Less advanced: if you don't know how they're called in Polish, name them in English.
Riddle 2 (the vehicle):
And one for everyone - what is it called?:

Riddle 1
Deser
Deser
@johnny_reb, you could call it "deser" as a whole, but I'd like people to give the names of those types of confectionery products: there are three types in the photo and each have their own name both in Polish and English.

what are the names of those goodies in Polish.
Delicje - Jaffa cakes
Ptysie - In England I would call them choux buns, they're made with choux pastry and usually filled with cream.
Chrusty/Chrusćiki - No idea what the English equivalent is.
what is it called?:
It's a tank!
No idea what the English equivalent is.
I am pretty sure that there is no English equivalent........ :-)

They don't look like anything I've seen in the UK Milo.
@ Paulina, was the tank on display at the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO in Kielce?

You're right, but it looked like one to me! I think it might be a KRAB 155 mm self-propelled howitzer.

I'm confused, to me, those are faworki... Is it a different word for the same thing?
everything was there
Grr :D I actually thought you or Chemikiem would get it from the drunk general being assassinated.
That is Krzewina Zgorzelecka station
Yup :) it's a fascinating place - Ostritz is a lovely, but deserted town, while Krzewina is horrible. The station itself has seen some small improvements recently though.

Yes, a different word for the same thing.
