I am planning a trip from Gdansk to Katowice by car. Is the highway A1 still under construction? Are there any parts open for driving? If yes, how much is the toll? Tnks.

I drove Lodz to Katowice on the A1 yesterday. Through Lodz is quite busy during rush hours but from Lodz to Katowice it was 2 lanes each way for the whole trip. Not Motorway but it was better than most of the single lane roads.
Between Gdansk and Lodz I cant say. I think it snowed a lot in Lodz yesterday after we left. I got to Zakopane from Lodz in 5 hours even in freezing temperatures.

12 yeas later, highway A1 is still under construction.
Things are changing. Check this map of highways - 2004 and today -the difference is appalling. :)

Ok, ok, but A2 could be cheaper an A4 should have 6 lanes.
You are too grumpy. In communist times you were happy having a sack of potatoes for winter in your basement and today - 6 lanes! :):):)
Motorway with traffic jam is no more motor but stayway.
Motorway with traffic jam
Come on, people should be happy they can drive cars. In the past they used to drive horse carts. It wasn`t such fun.
Simply speaking, each means of transport has its pros and cons. Cars have jams as a con.
