American to study in Poland

New to the forums, 18, and fresh out of high school. I'm looking to study in Poland to be closer with family and my girlfriend while pursuing my education. I've heard Polish universities are crappy, especially English-taught degrees. Does any one have any personal experience? It can be in any subject matter, as there's so little information out there already. Should I even bother looking into any schools that aren't in the top ten?

Also, I am currently learning Polish, but I don't feel comfortable in my abilities to study in it.

I've heard Polish universities are crappy,

Some are excellent.

especially English-taught degrees

They tend not to be the best but some are ok.

You should look at universities where you will be happiest.
