Where to live (South of Poland region)?

Hi. My question is, where in the South of Poland is the best town to move to to get a balance between ease of access to a mountain range, probably the Tatra mountains, and access to services like Internet providers? I'm not keen on central Zakopane because of the ever changing temporary population, but maybe I'm wrong about that. Maybe it's OK? I know Krakow isn't too far from the mountains but, without a car to begin with it's going to a lot of travelling. Any other alternative towns? Is Wroclaw near a mountain range? Any advice welcome.

There are different types of ranges in Poland. E.g., the Tatra mountains are of Alpine nature. Bieszczady mountains are montane meadows. And so on.

So, do you want to climb or hike?

Hi. I like quite long distance hikes, in winter conditions and summer. I know the Tatra mountains quite well but I haven't been to Poland for a few years. I haven't visited any other mountain ranges like the Bieszczady.

Around Sanok and Solina looks fine.

So Bieszczady Mountains will be perfect for you. Long distances to hike and still not so crowded as other places. In all seasons.

You can get Internet access everywhere in Poland now, maybe not on the Rysy peak in the Tatra Mountains though ;) Still, this should be your smallest concern. Poland has a long border on the South. There are the highest mountains in Poland (Tatry), but also Beskidy and Bieszczady. I personally prefer the latter ones as the weather is not that cold overall.

The Lower Silesia / Wroclaw / Walbrzych / Klodzko / Szklarska Poreba areas also have many mountain areas, very nice for hiking or mountain biking.
