How do Russians truly feel about their great leader?

But - compare per capita debt of Germany and debt of Russia.

At the same time you should compate their GDP per capita too.

You have to pay just to few experienced demagogues

In the GDR the opposition who wanted more democratic rights had been treated the same way....insulted, called names...traitors...enemies of the people...bought by the West....they were jailed, even forced to leave their homes..

But in the end it didn't help them....the GDR is history, as is the Sovietunion....

and Putin wouldn't see a need to terrorize any opposition.

If cutting all legal ways to receive foreign funding for political activities is "terror", most of Russians will welcome it. The rest is not about political activities, it's about basic law and order.

The best proof for the acceptance of his rulership would be a free election, sorry to repeat that! :)

But everything looks like as if Putin doesn't really like this idea...or else he wouldn't do what he does...*shrugs*

which will sorely miss their US boys! :)

A cute line from a cute weasel. The US "boys" don't have to be there for Germany to get the benefit of the US military and NATO.

If you want to play stupid childish games, at least pretend you are an adult.

They can't forgive him for not writing "Masha Has Two Mommies". Or, "Masha Is a Boy Now"

At the same time you should compate their GDP per capita too.

Russia have to spend a lot for things to replace sanctioned imports. It should be taken into account when GDP is compared. Lots of money goes to restore infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities that was destroyed by "efficient managers and friends of the western civilisation" in 1990's. Some projects is "on hold" for a while. But dynamics of GDP is positive in a long term.

The best proof for the acceptance of his rulership would be a free election, sorry to repeat that! :)

We do not need your approval, by the way. ;)

We do not need your approval, by the way. ;)

Not MY approval! :)

The approval of the russian people!

I myself can look on happily with popcorn, now safe and sound with all the perks of living in a wealthy, democratic country with guaranteed civic rights.

But I remember the past and I am grateful that this is over...and I feel with all the Belorussians and Russians who still have such a long way to go....

Russia have to spend a lot for things to replace sanctioned imports.

Short-term pain aside, it may actually be a blessing. No foreign debt and self-reliance are good. We just "discovered" how many critical drugs are made outside and not by our friends.

"efficient managers and friends of the western civilisation"

These geniuses never take responsibility for the destruction they cause. It's up to the "nationalists" to figure out.

democratic country with guaranteed civic rights.

What civil rights? Name one you have and the Russians don't.

I can be sure Merkel is gone im September!

I can mock her without getting poisoned or put into a siberian Gulag?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Russia#Overview_of_issues

The police here gets a stink eye the moment they look at a culprit the wrong way....no comparison to torture and deaths in russian jails!

That journalists get murdered is also extremely rare here...

The only ones gays an lesbians need to be cautious of are our muslim immigrants...

The only political prisoner of note I think is one Herr Fischer who is in jail because he doesn't want to pay the GEZ Gebühr, a broadcasting fee for the public service broadcasting authorities...

Sadly, there are still plenty of native Germans who hurt or kill them, (just look at the recent cases in Gießen and Altenburg), but it is thankfully getting better.

Those people on the elevator...Were they arrested?
OK. I got it. Germans can mock Merkel. Russians are not allowed to mock Putin. Is that it?

It would be nice if that was it. They also can't reveal their corruption (which would be staggering even if Russia was an African dictatorship) or organize election campaigns for his opponents.

I mean seriously, Putin supposedly earns 200k a year yet he owns a palace that is worth at least 1000 times his annual salary.... .
OP Bratwurst Boy 12 | 11,865

Is that it?

Imagine to fear for your life for mocking Biden and/or Pelosi and/or Harris or whomever...not knowing if someone will come knocking in the night, sentence you for years away from your family...just like that, because they can.

Would you still like to live in the US? Or would you start to think about what you say, start to look over your shoulder, not talking freely anymore about politics, head down like to good, obedient, little servant you are?

Did you see the records showing who owns the property? Where did you get the information that says Putin owns it?
No weasel essays. Just yes/no and the link.

That palace is probably embarassing even for Putin. He must have seen how people ask to many questions about that...as it is just not befitting of a serious politician!

So the legend was born:

....Russian businessman Arkady Rotenberg has said that he owns the building, which will be used as a hotel.[5][6] Rotenberg has close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and it has been alleged that the palace was built for the president's personal use.....

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putin%27s_Palace

Putin has wealthy jewish friends it seems...

...Arkady Romanovich Rotenberg (Russian: Аркадий Романович Ротенберг; born 15 December 1951) is a Russian billionaire businessman. With his brother Boris Rotenberg, he was co-owner of the Stroygazmontazh (S.G.M. group), the largest construction company for gas pipelines and electrical power supply lines in Russia.

He was listed by Forbes in 621st place among the world's wealthiest persons in 2014.[2] He is a close confidant, business partner, and childhood friend of president Vladimir Putin.[3][4] ...

You are really totally humourless....you could be a German! :)

Thing is the government doesn't decide about the humour of it's opposition....in democratic countries that is!

And incitement of hatred would be if said Youtuber would openly call for the murder of Putin...there is a difference!

Incitement of HATRED! Think about these words again! I think Putin incites hate of his person all by himself quite well...

Even the Russians seem to take it not that seriously:

....A court in the Russian city of Samara has found civil rights activist Karim Yamadayev guilty but said he should be released after spending more than a year in detention for mocking President Vladimir Putin and two of his close associates online....

He wishes to be a Tsar....

What's the problem with that? Good for him - he's an ambitious man in a world where sadly that's becoming increasingly rare.

The fact remains that the majority of Russians approve of Putin - and that's not going by Russian sources but Western ones...

Only to a weasel like you who counts on the liguistic sophistication of other weasels like Lyzko to get your ass out of the predicament. Back to "what is is"? Luckily, juries rarely buy that sophisticated crap.

BTW, if direct and precise words were the only basis for conviction, the feds here could never convict the mob. They learned how to talk in coded slang.

Then he better put that question to a referendum and lets the people decide...

Belarus had two. One in 1995 and another in 1996. How many did you have since then?

Yeah, I know, you have your "legal representatives" who know best so no need to ask the unwashed.

Merkel destroyed her party, the CDU, but she herself still stays on top...believe it or not!

If she herself wouldn't put an end to it she would have good chances to be re-elected....that would be then more than 20 years....that's just not right...that is not good for any country!

The current Covid crisis has eminded many Germans how good it is to have a competent politician with a scientific background in charge, as opposed to the vicious, incompetent idiots of some other countries.
