what does omnibus mean

one meaning is: single decker bus.

but u can discard this meaning.

for you: A collection of...

so: an edition made up of a collection of stories.

have no idea what this thread is about. I don`t have time to read all those posts

That's good because I had no time to write them (and it shows);)

Omnibus - Latin word meaning for everyone. In this case everyone apart from noiimigration in the early days;)

Please help

As a result of prolonged absence following a number of very unnatural disasters I feel I must seek to rename this thread "PF - The Annual". It could follow in the great traditions of other notable publications such as The Beano, The Dandy and those girlie ones that my Sister used to read. In fact, thinking about it, there are parallels with The Beano and The Dandy. Here on PF we have the Bash Street Kids (Harry, Delph and Des), Desperate Dan (anyone seeking that perfect Polish girl on a plate without the need to leave their run down terrace house where the sofa has a hole in it from prolonged watching of daytime TV) and Lord Snooty (er, that's me according a PM received from a caring and understanding forumite).

Having spent some time reading recent activity on here it was reassuring to note that in times of such global change and uncertainty there has been no evidence of a Polish Forums Spring that seeks to overthrow the management team. Mubarak, Ben Ali, Gaddafi and Saleh have gone but Admin and the Mods continue to provide a strict but benign guiding hand over the many tribes that live, love and squabble here.

Here in the dingy surrounds of the back streets of a grey and boring suburban town in the UK little has changed on the face of it. The threadbare carpet in the office is the same, empty Guinness cans abound and the waste bin overflows with half finished sudoku puzzles. The pile of golf clubs in the corner that were 'proven to improve your scores' but sadly didn't has grown. However, there have been some changes. The dedicated editor (Ed) has finally fled his creditors and is living in a tent somewhere near Phnom Penh and not taking calls. The rest of the editorial team breached their parole conditions and are back in Dartmoor Prison.

So that leaves just me to write something. I have to confess that is impossible to summarise anything and that my true intent is merely to try to get this thread to fifty pages since 49 pages upsets my compulsive obsession with symmetry. My thinking is this post and the inevitable responses demanding to know what I'm on should go some way towards this objective.

I promise that if you help me make the magic fifty I will ride quietly into the sunset on my trusty mule George.

Hasta la vista

In recessionary times, the sudoku should be seen as half unfinished.

Here's to 50!

(I am not overly ambitious)

Come now my good man. This is more ambitious than, let's say, climbing a bloody mountain.... When climbing a mountain, one has an army of sherpas doing all the heavy lifting, unlike this accomplishment.

Unless of course the mountain in question is K2 which is not just ambitious but downright suicidal.

Almost as suicidal as mounting a K9? Rottwieler's don't take kindly to that sort of behaviour, so I am told.

no men's land.

This is what Omnibus has been for some time since Sharly decided to open up another brewery, so he can sample the beer for free. The economic hardship has reached the UK too, or maybe he just cannot be bothered to go to the pub, since nobody can win the game of darts with him anymore - what is the fun in this anyways. The must be a British thing, because I watched the Tudors last night and Henry always liked to win in card games - at least that is what his new wife heard about him, according the the scrip. I personally watch the Tudors, because I like the costumes. I am sure that the costume designer has Polish roots since there is no one better among other nations to create such a beauty as Polish set and costume designers. You can see it for yourself when you happen to get those free tickets for Euro 2012 at your work place, since all the other workers have already planned their vacation in other less attractive parts of the world, and you can only wonder why they don't know what is best for them.

Not to mention the Polish Euro songs. You cannot wait to see and hear this one:

Polish creativity has no bounds:

What is new on PF?

I have no idea, since I don't come here very often. The balcony needs tending, the growing grass needs to be watched and I am very busy and important, especially when I go clothes shopping. I am in Poland after all and I have finally adjusted.

The usual offenders are still suspended and there is a need for another moderator on PF. Is it because with all the suspensions, also the mods got a red card and are not coming to play anymore. I really don't know.

It is possible that Wildrover is in Russia and he is shaking hands with Putin as we speak.

It is possible that Harry has opened a good steak restaurant in Warsaw and it too busy waiting tables, or too busy preparing for the foreign Euro crow.

Sharly wants to have 50 pages on this thread and I am just helping him to get there as soon as possible and I have to fill it in with something.

Later.........

Actually I have never had a brewery. Why waste time brewing when you can be supping the ale?

Is Des back under a new 'nomme de guerre'?

The Ruler? Sounds a bit pretentious to me. We should alll have nice, calming screen names like Primrose, Babbling Brook or Elle Macpherson.

Not long to the Euros now. Anyone want to rent my apartment in Warsaw? Only 50,000 Euros a week but you get free beer and will be be within staggering distance of Nobo. Assuming Nobo is still there of course. It's been over two years since I was there to check.

More importantly, it's only two years to the World Cup in Brazil. Where better place to watch the footie.

good point, I was just trying to provoke an answer from you and it worked;D

The Ruler?

overcompensating a bit on his part.

Indeed. Having the same name as several moderately well known business people does provide a degree of Internet anonymity.

The Internet is a dangerous thing. Always worth covering your tracks a little. Identity theft is only part of the risk.

Feck, could someone have told me this before???

Or you can go the other way and be totally open and not give a toss :)

Occasionally you get the odd mad mental stalker who follows you to work and begs for your attention 24/7... but they are harmless lil critters :)
