Turkey has some very good music

I love lots of Turkish music (though they don't usually seem to send their best to EV... like Spain....). I think Erdogan's Islamist agenda has scuttled participation in recent years, what a miserable buzzkill he is.. (in addition to a terrible economist and evil human being).

I think Ukraine could win the televote but I'm not sure about the jury... they've tried to liven up the juries in some countries but they still seem to be made up largely of fossils....

TBH I preferred Ukraine's entry last year (not so much the video but the live performances were great) but this year's entry puts on a show with lots of Slavic folklore (like the shaggy guys, similar figures are found in old Slavic pagan celebrations, my favorite are from Slovenia....) a win by them would be very credible

Islamist agenda

He even gets that wrong. He's also persecuting teken (a teke is an Alevi Muslim place of worship). These are where a lot of Turkish music originates since their acts of worship involve music dancing and drinking. They're about half the urban population of western Turkey, however (mirroring Poland) his power base is rural.

They do some amazing jazz music, some of it electronic and if you haven't listened to any, I really recommend it. Plus it's one country where folk music isn't ossified like in many places, it evolves and develops and informs other genres. I wish they were in Eurovision tonight.

this year's entry puts on a show with lots of Slavic folklore (like the shaggy guys, similar figures are found in old Slavic pagan celebrations

They have to have a go at that this year. I hope the6 win. Just as Liverpool won the cup about half an hour ago. Their entry (Ukraina not Lwrpwl) last year was good though...

Here's a Eurovision classic (which sadly wasn't allowed in the final). Georgia's 2009 entry, We don't wanna Put In...

Guys, are you watching? French song was bad ;O (or maybe that's just not my thing) So far I only liked the Armenian (cool idea with the scenography :)) and Portuguese entry.

French song was bad

Vile even, however this is actually the first year with no songs in French, which is a plus.

Armenia was pretty bad too, and Norway's was a comedy entry.

The Moldova entry is bracing, isn't it...

The Moldova entry

Where else but Eurovision can an accordion and violin drive the audience crazy? Tonight was an even bigger reaction than the semi....

Spain and Moldova seem to have had the biggest audience pops so far....

...I wish we would really help the people in Mariupol/Azovstal...

help the people in Mariupol/Azovstal...

If they had to listen to the Polish entry repeated on a loop they would be praying for the orcs to take them.

It was grim. Pop and opera don't go together unless your name is Farrokh Bulsara.

Could be worse. Could be the Estonian entry.

I liked the UK entry...

runs and hides

Usually you could count on the Brits to be "down there" with no points with us Germans, heh:)

Sweden and Moldova could go close, one is quite good, and the other a bit quirky. Many of the artists looked like box tickers to me.

I liked the Ukraine and Iceland entries, thought the German singer was very easy on the eye but badly dressed, didn't mind the Belgian singer in either sense and would like to hear the Lithuanian one covered by a stronger singer.

....I don't dare....

BB ;D

My favourites are:

1. Ukraine
2. Poland (obviously ;D)
3. The Netherlands
4. Armenia
5. Portugal
6. Moldova (because it was funny, fun and catchy xD)
7. Germany (would be higher, if the singer had better voice)

The rest was either bad, not sang well enough, not my thing or not memorable enough for me personally, I guess.

didn't mind the Belgian singer in either sense and

The song was good and well sang.

I liked the UK entry...

The song was nice and he has a very good voice, but the look was as if from a different time - not my thing in this respect :)

Wow....a 7 from you....that would mean a point...or two, heh:)

Oh come on....Ukraine needs the points!!!

not sang well enough

That fits Lithuania to a tee.

as if from a different time

I disliked it and wondered if he'd mistaken Eurovision for a rock contest. I'll be rooting for him because of his nationality, Poland,s song was painful to hear though.

Armenia

I couldn't decide if I liked that one or not. Same with Sweden and Iceland.

The Germany entrant should have worn better (more revealing) clothes and shown a bit of skin. After all, he's only young once and who on earth does he think bothers voting, let alone who's on the juries? That 23 year old russian with the violin who won for Norway a few years ago won for his flattering clothing and tousled hair not his dreary music.

The public knows you need to support a people fighting for their very lives!

...otherwise UK would had been a worthy winner...and we got a few points too...so I'm okay with this Eurovision! 😁
