fighting in the war effort.

Exactly, maybe this Mrs. Zvonareva should go to the front of the war with Ukraine as a nurse and not pretend to play tennis.

A country that still happily trades with Russia has no reason to ban a Russian tennis player unless that country is run by vindictive a-holes who did this to remove all doubts.

If we are talking about vindictive leaders how about the paranoid coward who will send his goons over to the UK to poison a harmless old man and his daughter because they disagreed that Udmurtia should be ruled by rapist thieves.

This lady can play tennis back home in Udmurtia and try and win some more tasteless ceramics. Here in Poland you could pick that up at any branch of Tedi, but back in Omsk it is prized porcelain

Should Poland be punished or fined for such obvious discrimination?

Why fined? Russians have to realise they are not welcome in Europe. Pressure from the public opinion of dozens of European countries will contribute to ending the war.

No. Russia will not fold because petty EU morons act like total a-holes toward Russian girls who want to play.

There should be a ban on mixing politics with sports, art, and science.

When in the last two centuries have art, sport and science been separated from politics in Udmurtia ? Maybe for a few weeks in 1917 and a few more in 1991

This second rate tennis player pays taxes that are used to fund obsolete weapons to invade Ukraine. Or at least that is the theory - in practice he taxes go either somewhere in Cyprus or to fund more security for Putler in his bunker.

But not because...

...petty EU morons act like total a-holes toward Russian girls who want to play.

No. That tennis player pays taxes to support orphanages.

Orphanages? In Udmurtia ?

Have you seen what they have been giving the mothers of the fallen ? A set of tea towels

This one is about gutless bootlickers and sports...Quoting:

Fencing federation to change rules after Russian handshake snub - media
Handshakes will apparently be replaced by a 'distance greeting' following an incident involving Ukrainian and Russian fencers this week

So a long-standing tradition is scrapped to accommodate a bit*ch who chose to insult her opponent for political reasons.

Hey, bit*ch, that Russian girl is against killing people, too.

Innocent Ukrainian sportsmen and women have been kiiled, maimed or had their homes destroyed by Udmurtian criminals - why would they shake their hands ?

The Udmurtian fencer should not even be in the building
Novichok 4 | 8,117

why would they shake their hands ?

Why stop there?

As some genius here explained, Russian girls pay taxes that buy bombs that kill other girls and women. Therefore, Russian girls who pay taxes are war criminals who should be stabbed to death. You know...dead people don't pay taxes. Their estates do but that's another matter - plus it's a one-time deal.

More about shaking hands...or just not being an a-hole at sports events...

You see, morons, the surest way to win a war is to separate the other side's top dogs from the ordinary people. How? By being nice to them. Then it is possible that they will have doubts about why their ruling elites want to kill those friendly Ukrainians.

By insulting a Russian, the exact opposite is the result and the most likely reaction is "I hope you will die, bit*ch".

The problem is that to come to this conclusion one needs a brain. I have it. You, stupid Poles, don't and that's why I left. Thinking things through is not a popular activity among haters.

that Russian girl is against killing people,

That russian girl's instagram indicates she supports the war (posing in a soldier's hat and flashing the v-sign)

The Ukrainian winner offered a 'fencer's salute' (touching the ends of the swords) before the match saying there would be no handshake.

Then the russian played dumb and staged a protest (see russians can protest!) probably hoping to have the result overturned.

Reaction to disqualifying the Ukrainian was overwhelmingly negative and FIE reversed it after a day and the IOC said the Ukrainian is automatically guaranteed a place in the 2024 games (should Ukraine decide to send her)

So... victory to the person who stood up for her personal beliefs and refused to recognize russian blackmail!

russians were only allowed at the event due to russian corruption and bribes anyway....

read it and learn:

who cares one way or the other? It is all corruption, political games and taking sides. There is no fair play. So whovere sincerely cry faul is a naive fool.

Ban her forever from tournaments in decent countries

That would make sense.

But, once she is allowed to compete, the rules should be enforced 100%. None of this petty crap like not shaking hands or giving her the middle finger.

None of this petty crap like not shaking hands

technically not in force since covid protocols were still in place.... touching swords was perfectly acceptable.... Smirnova just wanted to be a celebrity in russia where she could cry crocodile tears on tv about being a martyr...

So... FIE broke their own rules! Choke on that russki lover!

Poland with no answer for Tijana Bošković the best women volleyball player in the world.

What Leo Messi is in football, what Novak Djokovic is in tennis, Tijana Bošković is in volleyball.
