What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus?

build an "anti-blackmail-pact" against Putin and Lukashenko.

I see here an attempt to paint both as evil - a moral concept that has no place in politics.
If they didn't try to take advantage of Western impotence and outright stupidity they should be tried for treason. See: Crimea.

....the need to feel "good" is strong!

But I wonder if Ukraine could be bribed to take them all in....would that feasible???

And would the illegals follow? They must know that then Germany is a no-go.....

and take the immigrants in first

We really should transport them to the western border. I have no doubt G*rmany is more than willing to take them all.

I have my doubts....and what is "G*rmany"?

They must know that then Germany is a no-go.....

The migrants don't know or care what the official German position is... they assume they can blend in with existing communities and eventually legalize their stay and tap into the welfare system.

Which is why you're not getting them there.

Does Germany take fingerprints and dna samples of those applying for asylum or is it that much of a sucker country that it just takes their word for who they are?

and eventually legalize their stay and tap into the welfare system.

...and even if the stupid white man turns off that magnet, the "refugees" know damn well that the stupid white man will be nudged by his equally stupid white wife to mellow down and turn on what he just turned off. So the only trick is in getting there...Nothing else matters. Like that roach hotel...

take fingerprints and dna samples

Without a hearing and a court order? Hahahaha...

Gerald Knaus just called

There are lots of Germans that want them, Poland should put them on buses and send them to Germany. The EU doesn't wnat support the wall in Poland with money. Great, send some to Brussels. Monachium want them too! They can have them.

Photos and fingerprints (from 14 year olds)....DNA only during a criminal procedure...

Don't forget that on the Titanic, passengers could move from deck to deck - especially in the last 20 minutes.

We can build the wall with Germany too while we are on it.

You have the Baltic sea and Tatry

Photos and fingerprints

Normal enough.

What isn't a normal human reaction is some of the hatred I see being spewed on these pages.

Maybe more of a "resentment"?

After all neither polish nor german immigrants were so coddled during the centuries....nowhere!

True, however repeating the mistakes of the past just traps us in a vicious circle.

repeating the mistakes of the past j

like 2015....

traps us in a vicious circle

2015 created all kinds of unrealistic expectations in a big part of the world that is chaotic, violent and trapped in poverty (for reasons that have nothing to do with colonialism or recent wars).

No, like centuries and decades past.

2015 created all kinds

The current wave of global migration won't stop, no matter how much some moan about it.

So to be clear, you want to open up the borders so that Lukashenka can send as many Iraqi Kurds to Germany as he wants. That's your position?

Small scale migration is normal, mass migration is more a sign that something is going very wrong (first at the point of origin and then at the point of destination).

What do you think of my idea of middle eastern countries opening up to western immigrants? (in post #882)?

Getting better organized people into Iraq should be a priority because their current population.... just not up to the job....

Who said that? A straw man you met on a yellow brick road?

something is going very wrong

Now, you're beginning to get it.

What do you think of my idea of middle eastern countries opening up to western immigrants?

Most of them are already.

As I say, the current wave (if that's the right word since it will be far more than a wave) will not stop.

It's barely begun.

It's barely begun.

So, he was right after all, he just got the direction wrong.... because the more middle eastern chaos it lets in the more it will resemble the middle east (corruption and chaos and violence and regressive religiosity). It's not a story with a happy ending....

Who said that?

So.... what do you think Poland should do right now?

It's not a story with a happy ending....

So we have to make it one.

what do you think Poland should do right now?

If I had an answer to that, I'd be a geopolitical strategist and not an armchair one. Remember, this is not about a few thousand migrants; that number is trivial in the scheme of things. There will be far far more in our lifetimes.

In the short term, Poland should do what they're doing now. Apart from letting people die in the forest, of course or be robbed by thugs.

There was an interesting suggestion in today's Telegraph

So we have to make it one.

Polish a turd all you want, you're never gonna turn it into a diamond.

The only possible happy ending is forced assimilation (as used to happen in the US where immigrants got the message that their homelands and practices were backwards and inferior and _that_ is why they came in the first place

Adn John Bolton is a bloodthirsty neocon.... I do not listen to neocons... (wrong about.... everything)

Polish a turd all you want, you're never gonna turn it into a diamond.

But you are going to make it prettier and easier to have around.

I do not listen to neocons..

There are plenty of them about, and those who call the shots are generaly neocon. Better that than neo-fascist.

Not with real good fortified outer borders....that's why they are the next step!

Not with real good fortified outer borders

It's a good temporary situation. But at best very temporary...

Why? Do you think they can tear them down? That would be an act of war....

That would be an act of war....

You're getting close.

tear them down

Probably.

Seriously?

I know Europe being walled in is not such a nice idea, I agree with you....but till these countries get themselves out of the mud and can offer their people a perspective we don't have so many possibilities. Just taking them all in will overwhelm our societies....especially those "multikulti" ones where they with their stoneage religion would have the same rights as everybody else.

I for one and with me most other Europeans don't want to wake up in a muslimized society one day....where the muezzin screams over the streets and people have to get used to headscarfes etc.

If such a wall as the Greeks just build it saves us from that...so be it!

Well, BB, you know what they say: "if you don't want to pay for your own army, you will have to pay for somebody elses". It's the same with religion: if you reject your own tradition (and I'm not talking about stone age paganism), if you reject Christianity (be it in its Lutheran, Reformed or Catholic form) on which the power of Europe was built, then you will have exactly what happens with islam in Europe now (not only through brutal demographics but also through intellectual and spiritual void of modern Europeans). :-/
