"It's too late for Germany" (but not for Poland)

Loved every minute of it, man!

At the time, Berlin was probably one of, if not THE most, international capital cities in Europe, easily as much as Paris or London:-)

Compared with the rest of Germany, I fit right in, no looks up and down at me as I walked into posh stores, surveying glances as I got in Hamburg,

Bremen, Goslar or Munich(:-

are very often the same who actually hate Germany and the Germans...together with all their aquaintances.

At last BB,you realise that some people hate or at least, intensly dislike Germans.....you denied it before....

How could I? I meet them on this very board!

I objected to your very generous applied "they" und "we", supported only by hearsay, as every real existing poll and survey shows there is no majority in any country hating Germany...quite the contrary! (And Greece doesn't count!:)

Come on tac and bb.... where are your sources, preferably government ones like mine, showing that majority of migrants/asylum seekers are gainfully employed, dont commit most the terror attacks, arent driving up the rape stats, never assaulted a thousand women in one night and that 42% of children under 6 arent of a non migrant background.

Let me guess, youll either ignore it or post some lame reply that offers no evidence stats or legit sources disproving the FACTS above.... not only will you not have any good sources disproving these things but tac will keep apologizing for merkels burdens while bb will perhaps again rationalize by saying well europeans rape too or deflect by saying america has a lot of gun crime

... yet none of that changes the fact that.merkel allowed a deluge of third worlders to come in most of whom not only dont but also a ton of them commit violent crimes, rapes, terrorism and pop out more burdens for german taxpayers to suppory... that 42% of foreign kids will become 84% in 10 20.years... just watch

For @BratwurstBoy it is enough that half of the Africa and Middle-East love them. And especially young muslim men intensely 'love' their women. What else could he wish for? As long as they won't take away his favorite pork bratwurst (pork? 'no halal, no halal' gimme that you infidel) he is going to be quite content :-)

The new comers have already forced several schools to stop serving pork. Pastors have taken down crosses in front of churches becahse it 'offends.' Germany police tell citizens not to display the german flag because it might 'provoke' the migrants. Germany is lost sadly... its too bad some of my best memories as a teenager were in berlin and dortmund

Germany is lost sadly...

What's going on? 25 minutes later, and nobody claims those to be the expressions of the civilized and polite people welcoming their dear guests? Unlike that bad, mean Trump talking about the National Guards and the army possibly going to the border to stop the Latino poor and hungry.

The efforts at integration have clearly failed.

If you searched my house, roof to basement, you would not find one solitary Polish object except that passport I picked up last Friday.
On my island, if an immigrant family did not speak English at home after ten years, they would be going home. Teaching their kids born here the old country language would be classified as child abuse - a deliberate infliction of pain and suffering from the uncertainty about their national identity.

So you do have a dual citizenship then. You're a Polish-American after all.

No. I am an American who, due the randomness of life, was born and raised in a communist prison Block B - aka Poland.

I believe that knowing BOTH the ancestral language along with the New World language is that happy medium!
Unfortunately, such is ever so rarely the case, then or now.

It's like dating two chicks at the same time. It rarely ends well.

Incorrect analogy!

I grew up bilingually with German and English. I didn't end badly for me and I know I'm not the exception:-)

I agree with you on that. Poland under the occupation of Soviet controlled communism was a prison.

I'm too young to remember but I've heard a lot of stories from my family members. I've also studied this subject and the more I've learned the more anti-communist I became.

What I don't get is why would you hold a grudge against modern Poland?

So you'll be against PZPR prosecutors who were awarded medals for their service to the Communist regime, right?

What I don't get is why would you hold a grudge against modern Poland?

I really don't. I was impressed with everything I saw except graffiti, pay-to-s*** restrooms and public hospitals.
The rest was great. Including being able to communicate without asking 'do you speak English' on most occasions. And those drop-dead pretty Polish women and nearly total absence of fat people under 40. It was like being in heaven without dying.

I even got a free pass for all means of transportation in Warsaw. Imagine that: a foreigner gets a freebie like this solely on the basis of age as documented by my US passport. Try that in Chicago.

He probably heard it from others how they hate and despise Poland...EVERYBODY told him so, ergo Poland must be ******...that's how it works, right?

You are the expert for hearsay, why are you even asking...

@Bratwurst Boy you're awake already? Don't miss the new episode of your fav show

There's a chance you may get a ticket for that show, you know :-)

...still awake that is....it's nearly midnight over here...

And no, Family Guy is not my fav show...I'm more a South Park kind of guy....

Interesting:

Germany sees dramatic rise in citizenship applications by British Jews

timesofisrael.com/germany-sees-dramatic-rise-in-citizenship-applications-by-british-jews

Fears of the UK leaving the EU and rising anti-Semitism thought to be behind move to reclaim passports stripped from their families by the Nazis

Many of them are descendants of the famous "Kindertransporte", as the UK saved many children from the Nazis...now they are coming back because of the Brexit...astounding.

...but not that surprising. After all, they were Germans:-)
More ironic than astounding really.

If you searched my house, roof to basement, you would not find one solitary Polish object except that passport I picked up last Friday.

That is not entirely true. You would find one more except for the said passport of yours.

I made every reasonable (that excluded a lobotomy) effort to erase my Polish experience

Of course, only in case when that lobotomy of yours has not been performed ...

Here's an interesting take on Globalism, EU, the mixing of races and Germany

Catastrophe?

Net birth rate in Germany: 1.46
Net birth rate in Poland: 1.35

Worry about Poland before worrying about others. At this rate, Poland will be a nation of old people living in poverty by 2050.

Worry about Poland

Yeah...especially as Germany does something and is much more appealing to immigrants! :)
