Poland was ranked 23rd out of the world's 50 most innovative countries in the 2016 Bloomberg Innovation Index, two notches higher than last year. In 2016 Poland was ranked ahead of Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Hongkong. The index takes into account such things as the concentration of science and engineering graduates, research & development intensity, high-tech density and patent activity. The top five countreis were South Korea, Germany, Sweden, Japan and Switzerland. While Poland's position is not bad all things considered. it needs to champion cutting-edge solutions in science and research projects which hopefully the pro-Polish PiS government will vigorously promote.
Poland -- 23rd most innovative country
the pro-Polish PiS government will vigorously promote
cutting-edge solutions
That right there is the best oxymoron you've ever come up with.
While Poland's position is not bad all things considered.
So it means that under PO(O) things had not been as bad as you tend to portray them?
you seem to forget PO robbed the retirement funds to save the budget and still they planned huge deficit the next year (with minimal wefare)
PO robbed the retirement funds to save the budget and still they planned huge deficit
But what does it have to do with the subject of this thread "Poland - 23rd most innovative country"?
So it means that under PO(O) things had not been as bad as you tend to portray them?
No, they hadn`t. Now it is much worse, under PiS Poland has dropped to 39th position out of 127.

you seem to forget PO robbed the retirement funds to save the budget
And PiS is doing the same today. Why has PiS become PO????

7 years later, in 2023, it got even worse - Poland was on 41th place. It's not surprising considering the "Western" countries like Germany or UK have used Poland to build their own factories. There's no need for Poland to be innovative because her role is to produce whatever the foreign-owned corporations decide, similar to China. I don't criticize it fully because it's not a bad deal for Poland which brings a long-term economic stability, but it's not going to be possible to become innovative on a worldwide stage in the next generations.

Innovation can be understood in different ways, for example, Germans build new cars and then Albanians figure out how to drive them into jewelry store windows to rob them. Everyone invents something new.
