Russia has good relations with at least two of your neighbors - Switzerland and Austria.

Hungary and Italy are not your neighbors, and neither is Slovakia - but with them we also have good relations.

We have bad relations with the three Baltic states, for reasons which I think you know.

With Poland it's a special case, because Poland seems to hate us absolutely, whereas we can't really figure out what we did to p*ss it off (1991-2022). The negativity with Poland, has been simply unrelenting after the Smolensk disaster. This despite us supplying billions into the Polish budget through oil and gas transit fees, and that Polish companies flourished in Russia.

I think Poles hate Russians regardless of the weather outside, or time of year. It sits very deep. Not sure what we can do to win Polish support.

I dont see this ever ending simply due to history. I know my family here and in the US is very anti Russian, and German still. So much so, one family member did not speak to me for years because I had Russian clients. Post WW2 life prior to 1991 will not soon be forgotten by Poles.

When someone mentions Article V here I crack up laughing. Anyone believing that the US is going to war in Europe again is delusional. Artcile V can be activated, and the US can say they will support Europe with all the machines and munitions needed, and that would be the extent of their Article V support. There is not a chance that the US is going to send thousands of men to die in Europe a third time. Vlad is not going to attack Poland simply because there are already too many US soldiers in Poland already. With Trump taking office in five weeks, that military presence is likely to become permanent with a Fort Trump some place once the was is over.

I dont know why every EU nation has not taken the Israel approach. The idea that Merkel and Germany had to make friends with Russia, and to globalize Europe with mass immigration was just fvcking stupid. If there is a country that has genuinely pursued good relations with Moscow, then that is France - Russian culture has always been admired there, there are many business links and Macron was the last person who tried to talk sense to Putler. (And his reward was to be humiliated a week later)

Others like Hungary, Austria etc just have transactional relationships with a big neighbor.

As for Poland's distrust and hatred - it comes from 3 events - the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, Katyn and the Warsaw Rising. That might have ebbed away as the last veterans died, so Putler took the perfect opportunity to refresh it by invading Ukraine

How would Vlad send forces to Syria, when its Turkey that is providing resources for the rebels. Vlad already pulled almost all Russian resources out of Syria to be used against Ukraine. The only question is if Iran gets more involved and the whole ME errupts into its own war with Israel.

Erdogan has a long standing problem with Assad. He wants to get all the Syrian migrants out of Turkey. But Assad is one of Vlads boys and so is Erdogan so thats a family problem.

Erdogan is kind of an extreme Islamist.... but generally I don't understand the Syrian situation at all (to many moving pieces and too many unknown players) and therefore I generally stay quiet about it.

I wouldn't say Erdogan is one of Putler's client states - Turkey is a country with similar power and economic influence as North Nigeria
