Polish Parliamentary Elections 2023

Another worrying sign of Polish-Ukrainian closeness.

If you mention Ukrainians, you should say prayers for the PIS gov. More and more articles suggest they have decided to start an antiUkrainian campaign to win the nationalist voters so that they won`t vote for Konfederacja.

The black scenario I feared is slowly taking shape. Those PiS criminals concocting their dirty schemes remind me of Nazis debating the Final Solution during a Wannsee conference 1942.

Now, after this show down, let`s get back to topic

Yes, air has been cleared, and hate has been established.

Now a tell me again, how your buttocks clench at the thought of PiS forging a nationalist coalition.

at the thought of PiS forging a nationalist coalition.

PiS knows how to corrupt parliament members aka "lawmakers" from other parties. They have practised it for years. PIS offers them and their families well paid positions in state companies. They are like leeches.

However, Konfa leaders solemnly vow they won`t be PiS partners. They openly claim there will be another election next year.

The honorable Duda

Stop provoking. Do you want me to visit you in your US thread and praise the greatest US president of all times? :):):):

In other words, the best choice for difficult times.

Except the 'peasants' don't vote for PSL anymore, and haven't for a decade. They vote for PiS. So you are correct in a way.

The only people that vote for PSL are the administrators of the small towns that are scattered throughout the agricultural land. the small town bourgeois if you like.

Nationalists won't vote for PiS. PiS spat them in the face for too long for them to now fall for their silly pre-election tricks. They will vote for Konfederacja (a reasonably pro-Russian party). This is about something else.

This is about PiS' iron electorate - their most faithful voters.

Where do they come from, Pawian? They come from Закерзоння, to use this lovely Ukrainian word :) The entire Закерзоння is the bastion of PiS. The opposition has nothing to seek there. Unfortunately for PiS - and fortunately for Poland - Polish people living in those "ancient Ukrainian lands", long-suffering and patient as they are, got sick and tired of the constant, unconditional support for Mr Zelensky (who, among other things, likes to grant UPA veterans the titles of Hero of Ukraine).

Now, PiS realised that they are about to lose a large chunk of their iron voter base, and decided to play this silly "diplomatic conflict with Ukraine" theatre. If they win the elections, the licking of Ukrainian arses will resume with double strength. That's why they have to go - and with this you will surely agree? :)

The only people that vote for PSL are (...) the small town bourgeois

This is correct to some extent but I wouldn't say "only people". PSL definitely has to go back to their folk ethos, go back to their Witos-deep roots. They have to reconnect with peasants, the salt of Polish earth. That's why rejecting Agrounia and sticking with Hołownia - the weirdest guy in Polish politics since... since... no, I'll just say the weirdest guy in Polish poltics - was such a ridiculous own goal; almost suicidal.

the 'peasants' don't vote for PSL anymore

It used to be that when the countryside was mad at PiS they voted for PSL (according to a friend with family in the countryside). I'm not sure now.... I don't think the countryside is that happy with PiS but PSL doesn't seem to want them and Konfederacja is too crazy (and too full of figures that.... don't get along) to be viable.

I'm also not sure how Agrounia is playing in the countryside....

Hmm.... I seriously doubt it. When PIS decides to fling mud at sb, they do it with enthusiastic perseverance.

The campaign is gradually becoming more and more brutal. And it is PIS gangsters who are taking the lead in using hate speech against their opponents.

E.,g, PiS chairman said today about the opposition: - Traitors must be exterminated.

Its not a game, this is actual war with Russia, traitors are incredibly dangerous. This is what the PiS chairman was referring to. Why did you automatically associate it with DT??

Stop twisting. :):) Kaczynski never ceases attacking Mr Honourable Prime Minister Tusk in his hateful speeches. He will burn in Hell for that! BuHa!

traitors are incredibly dangerous

Indeed, however there's not a shred of evidence put before the public or before a court that any member of the county's mainstream opposition party is in any sense a traitor.

If they were, it would be a gross dereliction of duty not to act on this and bring the culprits to justice rather than make unpleasant claims that they don't back up. And if there were any evidence (which doubtless there isn't) the usual suspects would be champing at the bit to see a trial.

So it's reasonable to not only call BS, but to call unpleasant BS.

Anyway, if they want to see r*SSia supporters, certain right-wing parties are the place to look. Traitors? Who knows? I don't and evidently the PiS Chairman doesn't given the lack of any arrests for treason. The guy should either act or wind his neck in instead of making silly comments about the country's moderate opposition and calling for people to be 'exterminated'.

Boycotting the parade of the armed forces? Their true allegiances are becoming exposed more and more by the day and don't forget that it is DT who is seeking alliances with these certain right wing parties i.e Konfa

Boycotting the parade of the armed forces

Which elected politicians are supposed to be doing that?

Gajewska and Mucha.

after listening to the rmf morning radio star i reckon PiS should do a couple of questions in the referendum along with the election.

21st of June I predicted on this thread that PiS should add questions to the referendum. I really should get a job as the polish expert in an aussie think-tank.

Gajewska and Mucha

Their party leader should tell them to get a grip on themselves and don't be so silly.

Nevertheless, people do hold different views and politicians of all shades of opinion tend to hold strong ones. As far as I know nobody is suggesting interrupting the parade (and I hope nothing like that happens) so two out of several hundred politicians is not a tragedy.

I find Polish newspapers dreary to read so haven't been following this. Did they say why they aren't attending?

Absolutely spot on, and the fact that he's not is deeply concerning for the future of Poland.

I'd say that it's not such a dire situation. In any major party there are outspoken ones that don't quite tow the line. PiS, PO and all others round the developed world are the same in that respect. Mavericks are a good thing rather than a bad thing and at least they're just staying away rather than kicking up a storm, though I personally think they should attend.I suspect the whips have spoken with them and in any case, the parade will happen regardless.

Poland has always had a diversity of opinion; it's not a one trick pony and for every p9litician one dislikes, there's another that one favours

Edit
I just read in another thread that one of the two politicians in question is in fact attending the Army Day parade in her home town and that the other one is t really boycotting input either so this just looks like typical media hot air from right-wingers..

It's almost as if it was a co-ordinated action with Lukashenko to destabilise Poland..
