Struggling young Polish couple - try to solve their problem

I'll never be truly rich as a teacher but I know how to save and set aside for a rainy day (for the black hour as they say in Polish).

That how I am, I think 3x before I buy something. It's the dumbest thing to be a slave to some bank or car dealership, wait a year or two you'll pay cash and own it.

I've never been one for the high life

you wouldn't be Scottish if you would be "one for the high life", lol Back to the decadent Western life, there's nothing wrong about enjoying life as long as one can afford it.

And that's how many get by here. They stick to modest soups, cars and property options.

Guesswho, it's more a matter of personality than wealth. Some with immense wealth still live cheaply by choice.

that's the American way... it used to be "all cash" in Poland, but nowadays more and more people live on credit...

of course but don't you think that both can go hand in hand together? or is some kind of your automatic assumption that wealthy people don't have a character?

Some with immense wealth still live cheaply by choice.

agree

How dare you offend Africans.

Get off my screen.

Guesswho, that wasn't my point. It's more what you are drawn to. Some people are aware that they need to meet certain targets in order to live the lifestyle that they carve out for themselves. Wealth doesn't dictate personality exclusively.

Bzib, PMT again? You are not in my league when it comes to debating skills so take a hike.....

Nobody would come up with starving African kids out of nowhere in the middle of discussing Polish struggling couple but you. You are in the league of your own.

Well, all power to you if you fail to see the connection and my point. Right, African kids don't struggle and we should never enter into scale. Marked for future reference. My point is that sometimes there is nothing there to bail you out. Society can only provide for so many people and some must fall by the wayside unless they learn to swim and, these days, swim well.

Krakow

The lady should start a business sewing white and red striped trousers and the husband should poach peacocks for hat feathers.

Wealth doesn't dictate personality exclusively.

Once we get happy and healthy out of the way, given a choice most would prefer to wealthy, than poor. Personality? if you have got unlimited, you would not be interested if someone considers you to have a personality or personable. Moneyed stick to moneyed, knowledge is the key.

There is no doubt about that, warsz. However, people slot into roles in society and sometimes that role doesn't bring wealth. Why do you think that many don't become lawyers and doctors? That's not their calling in society and they know that. You go with what you know and you wake up with that reality in mind. If that means you struggle, so be it. Poles know how to deal with that ;)

because it's easier to study art (for example)? :-)

That's not their calling in society

calling is only a part of it Sean US

Guesswho, my point was about wealth and material drive. We all know that art fits the personality of some better but competitive families will push their kids into directions which may not suit them. Better to stick with a path that suits you than wake up and live a 'oh sh*t, it's Monday' nightmare all over again.

it surely is if one can afford it or chooses to live a very simple life.

Btw. You know what I like about you Sean US? No matter how much we both disagree, you never start with insults like some other people here. That's class, thanks.

Financial means come and go at different times in your life. Sometimes the means are there and sometimes they aren't. Life is about timing and you should never be scuppered through not having at one moment or another. People change as do circumstances. Hope tainted with realism has been the traditional preserve of a Pole for many a year.

You go with what you know

If you were born into a life of social assistance, you would have to break the mould, in order to achieve a more privileged financial life. This would mean going against what you know, working towards a higher status. In order to achieve this level, you would have to be very ruthless or have a very strong moral fiber. There is no in between.

Many don't have the staying power to last the course on that one, warsz. Be realistic, please.

Precisely, WB. She is in NO place to understand the realities of life in places like Rostocza here. An armchair commentator with no experience in how bad things really get. Polish couples can work things out but some folk in poor areas are left to their own devices.

Yeah basically become a snobby (unt just like you Warsawski.

what you said rings true thats for sure, its become a snobby (unt and have a succesfull monetary life or be normal and sleep well. Warsawski youre in the financial sector, how does your work benefit society?

I have an imagination and a sense of scale. There is always sb worse off than yourself. Polish struggles need to be put into perspective. If we are to believe that humans are born equal then why should one group moan when they have it better than another?

There is a very big difference between being snobbish and affected ( wanting all the lasted designer stuff and keeping up with the Jones) and taking the right junction at the crossroads.

Warsawski youre in the financial sector your, how does your work benefit society?

I am not in the financial sector, although I have worked within the financial sector in the past. All jobs benefit society, as you pay tax, of course someone who is on minimum wage, is not contributing financially to the government coffers as much as someone who is in a higher tax bracket. My sleep pattern is excellent, especially after I had my soft palate removed. lol

W.B, when you have kids, as you know, life is about providing, instead of spending.

Humans are never born equal, that is what makes us human....actually that is what makes us animals. You cannot compare the struggles of one group living in thw west to the struggles of another group living in the third world. They are worlds apart as you well know, what would be a good day for one would surely be a bad day for another.

insult removed. please, be civil.

I have an imagination and a sense of scale. There is always sb worse off than yourself.

Recently, I have been informed about two friends that have cancer, one has been given six months to live the other has just had surgery, for colon cancer. They are both in their early forties, married with teenage kids. Wealth or poverty, health is number one.

Let's try to solve the problem of this young, Polish couple, living in today's Polish reality:What do you think they should do to be on their own?

I know this is going to sound crazy to you all... But if i was in that guys shoes and desperate i would join french foreign legion and after a year i would bring my wife to France.

What do you think they should do to be on their own?

They can both move to the UK and work :)
Or someplace where they can make more money.

so you're saying that the only way to make a decent living for young Poles is to move abroad? :)

I don't know about others, but for them, maybe. Does every young person make the same amount no matter what?
