Why Polish singers are not popular abroad?

yes exactly. Look at how atrocious the poorly translated English version of neun und neunzig luftballoons was - even the singer hated singing it in English.

Ok she was German not Polish but still...

and as well as the lovely Nena from Berlin, everybody has heard of Nina Hagen and she never felt obliged to sing in English.

I mostly don't enjoy singers singing in English

One can sing both in English and Polish as Sara did in this song for Junior Eurovision:

From the comment section:

"Seläh Zoe
I didn't know polish is this beautiful 💓Thank you Sarah for the intro."

@roz, it does, she's already popular in Poland, has her fan base, etc. :)

Btw, people often tell her that she looks like Rihanna, so here's Sara's rendition of Rihanna's "Diamonds" (it nicely shows the strength and depth of her voice) :):

This is not really my style of music, but she can sing and I loved the fact that she sang in both English and Polish.

To succeed at all, you have to sing in English, but keeping that bit of Polish in her song gave her credibility.
Good luck to her!

As for singing in English - I don't mind it if someone does it well enough:

Sanah is so lovely :)

Lovely indeed, but she should't sing while sitting.

@Alien, OK :))):

From the comments:

"Sanah must've been created from a magical cosmic dust..."

Unfortunately, many Polish singers simply do not have talent.

You have not heard Russian pop stars. Polish singers will seem like Whitney Houston in comparison.

I am a generation brought up on Bulat Schalwowitsch Okudschawa songs ( but also Deep Purple or Dżem).🎸🎤

@Alien

Okudzhava is beyond reproach, I meant exclusively female pop singers, since I assumed that this is what it was about. Plenty of good Russian music in other genres.

Okudzhava

She doesn't sound very Polish.

As my Dad used to say, "będą z niej ludzie".🌻📀

That's already happening, I think - her albums have reached platinum and diamond levels of sells in Poland, I think (or something like that), her concerts are sold out and her songs have millions of views on YouTube:

I just heard on Polish " Trójka" "ostatnia nadzieja" from Sanah/Podsiadło. Fortunately, I am on vacation not far from the Polish border and I can recive Polish radio.

Tolented Polish singers wrote great songs, which unfortunately were only great in Polish ears. Same in UK you get many bands which to us Poles sound chronic but the English public love them. US music market is also different, although some overlap ocurrs. For any none English band to make it in England, a) your English must be perfect, b) your music must be unquestinably and inimitably superb!!! ABBA was one band who managed to pull that off. But going by what I hear on my Polish radio, we wouldn' hold a candle to anything like ABBA. As someone who knows something about writing songs, I will say that musicians in Poland have difficulty defining what is their own music should be, and thus writing anything unique. Most Polish rock songs sound like strings of independent ideas, without ever being one piece.

True, however their English was a long way from perfect.

Most Polish rock songs sound like strings of independent ideas, without ever being one piece.

Too much unfulfilled longing, not enough joy.

One can sing both in English and Polish as Sara did in this song for Junior Eurovision:

She can sing in two dozen languages and I still will hate those stupid dreadlocks on her. In too many cases, dreadlocks were the last thing victims saw before they were raped or murdered.

Her choice of songs is atrocious - the kind I would pay not to hear as you have to be a musical genius to catch and retain the non-existing theme.

A random array of notes is not a song. My PC running free software can do better.

True, however their English was a long way from perfect.

The whole UK speaks English that is a long way from perfect. It's vomit-inducing with that soft r. That's why Euro-English groups sound American, the only decent version of English.

If Sarah James got the golden buzzer,

I wonder what part of it was because she is black. How about 90%?
Alien  25 | 6084
28 Aug 2022   #53
@Novichok
No more than 50%. She is black/white 50/50%.
jon357  73 | 23224
28 Aug 2022   #54
Perhaps it's because she's a good singer.
Novichok  5 | 8630

She is black/white 50/50%.

By US standards, she would be black even if 1/16 black. Then she would even be Black.

Perhaps it's because she's a good singer.

There are many good singers here who don't make it because they are not minorities or don't have a tear-jerking sob story to tell.

@Paulina

Yeah, she is a very good singer.

@Novichok

Stop being such a misery guts!!!!!!
Cheer up and enjoy!

I don't watch anything black after they told me that white is evil and inherently racist.
Miloslaw  21 | 5200

@Novichok
What is wrong with you?
She isn't even black????
Novichok  5 | 8630

Yes, she is. A child of a Nigerian native is black and those dreadlocks are the evidence.
rozumiemnic  8 | 3897

who even cares...although i would imagine a Nigerian man with the surname of James is already of mixed heritage.
Looks like she might be more white than black lol
