Relation in Poland to Orthodox Christians?

@joun
I see you were unable to answer my questions about your beliefs.
Therefore, if you can't back up your own beliefs you should stop mocking with your sarcastic remarks about other peoples beliefs.
(Mostly in other threads here)
One more question for you and I will let you off the hook joun.
You have professed here that the man Jesus is dead and forever dead.
If that is true, how do you account for the fact that the Bible describes Him as the man God raised from the dead, and by whom He will judge the world ?

Just how do your J.W. teachings that the body of Jesus was not resurrected but remained a corpse with the clear command of Scripture that His body was to be raised ? (John 2:19-22)

Remember now that you have been told to stop mocking other people's religious beliefs knowing that your hypocritical beliefs can be mocked right back.

Where does that get us ?

This thread isn't about protestant sects like your own

I understand why you want to control the narrative here as your life style is called 'sin' in the Bible.
That is why you are so hell bent on mocking and blasphemes Christianity and what the Bible commands.
1. That is why Jesus Crist teachings rattle you so much.
2. Quit playing Mod to control the narrative here
Good day joun.

Orthodoxy is a key part of the culture of the Kresy in Poland and of course there are some significant figures in Polish history who have followed that faith.

Here's some pictures of the Orthodox shrine at Grabarka near Siemiatycze, somewhere I've visited a few times and recommend.

Just how do your J.W. teachings

Are you saying jon is a JW?

Here's an anti-JW channel...

youtube.com/@OwenMorganTelltale

the owner grew up in JW-dom then was disfellowshipped by parents when still a minor (sucky situation for sure)

JWs in Poland are a lot less rigid and shunny than in other countries IME at least.

shunny

Shunny? Can you please explain the term?
jon357 74 | 22,195
29 Mar 2023 #65
Shunny

It's about this. The practice of shunning
jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/shunning/

It's actually called disfellowshipping and it's rarer than just people think but does happen, usually as a last resort. It happened to a friend in PL. It can have quite a severe psychological effect especially for people from JW families

Shunny?

An adjective I made up (or... did I?) meaning 'likely to shun'

When a JW is 'disfellowshipped' then all JW's are supposed to ignore them and pretend they don't exist... very cruel. It happened to the youtuber I mentioned above when he was still a minor and so his parents stopped speaking to him or acknowledging his existence even at home.... hideous and inhuman....

JWs are also extremely anti-gay....

The fall of an empire-the Lesson of Byzantium

Interesting how history seems to be repeating itself and the parallels which can be compared with today's precarious state of the EU which very much reminds of the last days before the fall of Byzantium.

I see you were unable to answer my questions about your beliefs.

Just like you were unable to answer my simple question about your denomination and the church you belong to. You also dodged my question about the theology you subscribe to.

So, what's it gonna be, Johnny? Will you finally answer the questions or should I assume that your Christianity is best mirrored in your approach to hunting ethics?

There are thousands of those knocking around. Including some that wrote books in the Bible. Are they all the same?

I realized I had not appreciated the meaning behind your words here... On the one hand - yes - they are all the same to me. Crazies, freaks, etc. However, one cannot compare David Koresh, Jim Jones, or some desert Mormon prophet to the guys that wrote the Bible. I'm a little wary of giving them all the credit, since perhaps it was the centuries of scholars toiling over the texts that gave them the beautiful form they exist in today, but still... what's written in the Bible is some of the most important literature written in the history of our species. Though an atheist, I frequently turn to the Bible. Usually to come up with some especially creative insult for my girlfriend (I read to her from the Psalms on how a woman should behave), but sometimes also to find answers to questions that are vexing me. Most of these are in the realm of HR and conflict mediation, since most actual HR departments and mediators are parasites.

One time, in a bookstore in New Orleans, I found an old critique of the Book of Job which was maybe 750 pages long. That book travelled with me on several vacations before I got through it. It was a moment in my life when I was daily "eating glass" trying to get my business off the ground. Having a more nuanced appreciation for Job was good help in working through the troubles of business.

one cannot compare David Koresh, Jim Jones, or some desert Mormon prophet to the guys that wrote the Bible.

Spot on because like J.W. they were/are all 'cults' while the authors of the Bible were Jesus's hand picked students that He taught and then they became teachers that taught Jesus's words.

Just like you were unable to answer my simple question about your denomination and the church you belong to

Oh I was very able to.
I just don't think my personal life is any of your business.
My god man, you see how these hyenas devour the smallest bite of anyone's personal information to diminish and shame them.
Is that what you are trying to do too ?
You have been here long enough to see that.
So why would I offer up such a self sacrifice ?
Go back to my first post (#30) and see were I corrected joun on his misinformation.
This is typical of J.W. to change a few words to their liking.
He has also professed that Jesus was just a mortal man to diminish my beliefs.
That is another J.W. belief.
I happen to believe that the Catholic church was the first church of the New Testament when Jesus said to Peter, "On this rock I build my church."

The rock meaning Peter himself.
But of course joun claimed that Peter never met Jesus here on earth.
I corrected him on that too.
Now lets everyone get back On-Topic as Vincent has been more than fair to let us all vent here.
Can we move on now and stay on Topic ?

It's not. However, if you try to lecture people on the Holy Writ and refuse to reveal your church affiliation, it looks a bit suspicious - as if you were ashamed of it. Strange.

claimed that Peter never met Jesus

St. Paul, not St. Peter.

Get your facts right.

it looks a bit suspicious - as if you were ashamed of it. Strange.

Yes, it very much does, especially if the person is, as you say, trying to lecture people and I'd add trying to fish for information about other people's religious affiliation.

Of course, what matters isn't whether someone's orthodox, RC, a type of Protestant or even a different religion entirely or none. What matters is how they treat their fellow humans.

it looks a bit suspicious

Please elaborate why it looks suspicious.
My suspicions are that you just want to stir the pot so you and others can diminish me especially after you have admitted that it is none of your business yet you continue to try to mind my business. lol

if you try to lecture people on the Holy Writ

I lecture no one, I share what the Holy Bible says.

as if you were ashamed of it. Strange.

On the contrary my friend, I am one of God's children and couldn't be prouder of it.
So why is that so strange to you ?
So what is your church affiliation or are you one of the lost souls and don't have one ?
GefreiterKania 35 | 1,406

diminish me

How can anyone "diminish" you because of your church affiliation if you genuinely believe it's the best denomination for you? Hmm... suspicious.

what is your church affiliation

Roman Catholic

See? It's not that hard. :)

St. Paul, not St. Peter.Get your facts right.

More Rinse & Repeat
Please re read this:

More over, the letter reflects the history and terminology of the Gospels of Peters speeches which reflect Peter's experiences/associations in the period of Jesus

I never once mentioned Paul.
You keep trying to drag Pauls name into our debate because you lost and now want to confuse the issue for a third chance.

trying to fish for information about other people's religious affiliation.

joun, you have already admitted to your cult affiliation

What matters is how they treat their fellow humans.

Is that what they teach you ?
Just treat your fellow human nice and that is yor ticket to inherit eternal salvation ?
They teach me that it is by grace and grace alone that you have been saved to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

as far as I remember, yours is some local sectarian congregation of christian affiliation which broke off from the mainstream church.

How can anyone "diminish" you

I just told you.

Why do you refuse to tell Kania what he is asking for? It really looks and sounds suspicious.....

Hmm... suspicious.

Cause he's not a real christian, just an opportunist who likes to club people over the head with religion...

Cause he's not a real christian,

What a horrible judgmental statement to make maf
Bearing false witness against your neighbor is one of the Ten Commandments that Christiam. Jewish, Catholics and Protestant widely understand Maf.
You can find it in the Bible in Exodus 20:16
What religion are you ?
Do you have a Bible to look that up ?

who likes to club people over the head with religion...

Well someone has to.
Some of you lost souls need a wake up call before it is too late.
I club no one, I just share what the Bible really says so if it rattles you, avoid this thread.

He had a recent change of heart

Correct. My short adventure with the heresy of calvinism is well and truly over.

hoping that the CC will fall soon

I still kinda hope it does, as far as the institutional church is concerned. Our church needs a huge renewal and awakening, but it doesn't seem possible with the current institutional structures of sin. But that's a topic for a completely different thread.

I understand

Hmm... extremely suspicious.
