Buying Samsung S4 in Poland?

Hello!

I will be living in Poland for 10 months. In Turkey, S4 is around 2700 ZL! I heard in Poland it is 2000 ZL.

I would like to ask two questions, latter is more important for me.

1- Is it really 2000 ZL?
2- I will live near to border of Ukranie. If one of my Ukrainian friends takes my phone to the border, can she get tax-free from Ukraine? Then can I use it back in Poland?

I'm seeing them for 2200zl minimum.

In theory, she can purchase it, get a VAT refund from the Polish Customs, then cross straight into Ukraine and come straight back. However, there are potential flaws to this plan :

- The Polish authorities will want to see the phone in its original packaging and will want to see that it isn't used.
- The Ukrainian authorities will hammer you for import VAT + import duties if she's caught
- The Poles on return will also hammer her for VAT+import duties if she's caught, as well as (likely) an administrative fine for attempting to smuggle goods across the border. She would have to throw the packaging away and make it seem as if the phone has been used properly - a sim card inside, added contacts, etc.

Not worth the hassle, and the Poles are pretty hot on searching Ukrainians on the border due to the massive amount of smuggling that they do.

A question loosely connected to this one...For so many years I am passing these shops where they sell simlock-free phones...I suppose they are all second-hand, right? Do they actually work properly? Some of the phones offered seem to be fairly new models....

Depends about which store and phone you're talking. Both new and second hand simlock free phones are sold.

I can't pinprick a specific store...but if somebody could recommend a reliable one in Warsaw, I'd be grateful.
The ones I see everyday are in the underground passage at Metro Centrum, and one above ground on Plac Bankowy.

There is also an open counter in CH Arkadia, near Saturn, but their prices are steep so I guess they are selling new phones.

simlocked phones are usually with contract. Without contract, but with simlock are just a few and not much more expensive. Usually removing simlock costs 20 - 40 pln. It depends which model, so that should be the price difference. Just compare on Allegro yourself.
