Wow!!!!

An earlier TV show. Mira was a fox. They were a hot couple. Nalepa was one of the best rythym guitarists I have ever heard. Runs Clapton close. Should have been an international star, but couldn't sing. Weird. So how could he hear the notes in his head?

The guitarist is excellent, I agree, but I don't think the singer is a good fit for that kind of music. You'd need someone with a much stronger voice like Maggie Bell,Inga Rumpf or Karise Eden for that.

Sorry for posting something from "The Voice", but this particular performance was mind-blowing.

I have just noticed that Nalepa doesn't run his hands up and down the fret, as for effect, a Clapton pre-requisite.
A non-frills player, a really heavy dude. Not technically gifted, but melodic as f. Like it, even at 5.30 in the morning :)

Most of their greatest hits are from the era after Gabriel when they became much more commercial.

Its true, but all those songs suck compared to what Gabriel did with the band, even though some of them are 20+ minutes long. There are many classic songs that will stand the test of time, instead of this commercial bubble gum rubbish.

They should be embarrassed by putting out this noise, sellouts.

Hey, Trump should use this song for his political rallies! LOL

First one is an old band from Poland, second one a really cool band from Brooklyn.

Im listening to Sweet Smoke right now, I like them! You come up with some goodies!

Everyone for that matter, this is a nice thread:)

And my last post tonight is for Joker.... honestly mate, these guys are Polish!!!!

This reminds of Jean Luc Ponty, but not as fusion.

Dobrze:)

He's such a mild-mannered man, and so introspective, that so many times live, Leszek Winder is content to play rhythm, or stand within the band. Which is always a shame IMO, as he is undoubtedly one of the Polish guitar greats.

Katowice is amazingly lucky - being way out in front historically in the Polish rock scene. SBB, Reidel, Winder, Jerzy Kowalec - the list goes on and on and on.

So tonight I've got some posts for the younger ones.

Was browsing Youtube just for fun and came across this one. Sounds like a tamed version of Rammstein, but I don't understand the lyrics.

Another crazy one. Not Polish, but Danish-Norwegian-German. Interesting sound and concept.

No? That music sent chills down my spine. Totally unusual, and the show is ... shall we say ... different. They remind me a bit of the band Magma.

Australia
Portugal

Wouldn't mind if
Czech republic
Greece
Hungary
Georgia

Not sure if I'm missing anyone...

I like it because of the folk connection - most Poles are alienated from their own folk culture (for lots of reasons) and a respectable showing could have helped mititgate that a teeeny, tiny bit.

The harmonies are not super friendly to xenophobic and/or anglo-centric ears but I prefer them to most of the songs that made it through.... San Marino? Dreck! Estonia? Swedish trash! Could any songs be more forgettable than those of Cyprus and Belarus (both of which made it through)

(I also like the overtone singing in the Georgian entry - which was otherwise terrible... but overtone singing is amaaaaazing).

Mmmm - feeding into PIS politics perchance? But I do agree with your admirable positivity. Eurovison certainly is multi- facted.

I like music that sounds like it's from a specific place whether Apalachia or Bavaria or Venezuela or Vietnam... I can't stand music that sounds like it's from anywhere... which was over half of the eurovision songs tonight

That's the historic Eurovision heritage. Gay club euro-pop. Maybe it's time for a change? I doubt it - the former is big money. And kitsch fun.

And they didn't make it; )

I actually prefer what they did before to the Eurovision song.
The thing is those were covers.
But I like white voice.

And they didn't make it; )

Only two songs I liked (Australia and Iceland) made it... I'm also okay with the Czech and Greek entries

But I hated all the rest.. derivative and lifeless and just all around terrible... Slovenia's tuneless lifely dirge made it! San effin' Marino made it!

I think these results need to be taken to the European court of human rights....

I didn't know when it'd be on and I came across it by accident. I just checked if they'd be in the first semi-finals and when it turned out they'd be the fourth I didn't really bother to watch the rest.

I liked Ironsides post!
@TheOther
Although it does sound a bit Irish it is in fact very traditional Slav Folk Music.
Celtic,Slav and even Nordic Folk Music are a bit similar.

Of their own making, and another nail in their well-deserved coffin.

No John The makings of your own kind, Your attempts at excusing the sickness in your own ranks will not change facts You are on the wrong side ,now and forever your protestations, change nothing. There is nothing more pathetic than blind refusing help, refusing to see

@Ironside
I was so inspired by your post that I am going to post it again!

@TheOther
Your comment that Ironside's post sounded Irish got me inspired to.
