@mafketis
But after ten years?
The conditions of the termination are pretty good. I don't really suspect anything mean here.

But after ten years?

Maybe there were no problems before, but when push comes to shove.... they'll keep an employee with (even tenuous) family connections over one without.

It is a possibility but we have no proof. For all we know the employer flipped the coin to decide.

In my country,for a similar case,employer was forced by court to hire back this person

The same can happen here. You can contact PIP and ask them to investigate if you feel that there was something wrong.

However, if it's a large company, then it's very possible that they followed objective criteria, such as your work performance.

If he has already told you that it was for economic reasons then that is what he would say to the PIP or court. And how are they going to argue ? He can convincingly point to a huge economic crisis and say he couldn't afford to keep you, this is a large company so it's unlikely there were any personal or discriminatory reasons.

If you decide to fight that then one problem is you might end up with no reference from the only Polish business on your resume. think that through carefully as this is not going to be an easy job market and you will need all the friends and goodwill you can get.
