hey everyone..i am a student of Polish language, first year, and writing a seminar, about Mickiewicz. The title is: Ideas of Messianism of Adam Mickiewicz. Please anyone, if you have anything on this subject, i would really really appreciate it, ia am kind of in a hurry and there is not much said on this subject in my country Slovenia.. I would really like it if anything you send me would be in English, because i am only a beginner in your language, if not, no problem also.

So if you have anything you said about in your school, college, articles, thank you very much!!!

Adam Mickiewicz was one of the greatest Polish bards. When you do a surver in Poland and ask about the Polish most memorable author, 80% of Poles would mention him.

But the problem is that most of them wouldn't be able to say much about things he wrote, because they aren't "easy" and these I had to read in high school seemed to be simply... weired.

Mickiewicz thought that Poles are a kind of... a chosen nation, which has some special mission... and I think that in his opinion It was that Poles through uprisings and suffering should encourage other nations, which like Poland were in 19th century under foreign occupation, to fight for their freedom... but I'm not 100% sure about that. Maybe someone else will write more.

gotowce.com.pl/prace/781_mesjanizm_mickiewicza_a_mesjanizm_slowackiego .htm

Looks like that what I wrote is rather messianism of Juliusz SÅ‚owacki... Mickiewicz believed in that special mission... he thought that Poland was... a Christ of nations :) and through own suffering should somehow liberate other nations, but unlike SÅ‚owacki he wasn't calling for fight, rather to wait for some savior...

So you see that dude was weired :)

There's plenty of things about that in Polish, you need to wait for someone, who will translate them better.

ok, i am not asking you to do my homework, that's a bit over reacted , don't you think? I am simply asking you to help me a little, as true Polish people and people that did have this in their schools and should know it best, because i don't have much literature translated in my language, everything else i have is google, so of course, i wanna try some other resources??

rafik, i chose Polish, because of pragmatic reasons:)
and because i like the language, its quite similar to my native language and my mother lg.also(Serbian)
p.s.-so what if i am flirting,jealous???:) :)

hows that possible, you re supposed to be a sociologist?
and not a teenager,26...
ok enough of that, i really could you use some more of your help, thank you again:)

I tried to help you - I looked at the websites on Mickiewicz, since there are a lot of them out there in English and you asked for english - correct? Grzegorz gave you a polish website, which you cannot read - correct?

.......so I just think that you have been cought red handed and don't want to admit it.
Teenage behaviour, so get off my back princess.

Here are some sites which mention about his messianism. I studied Mickiewicz, saw his movies and read many of his books, but he uses hard to understand language and you have to really read into his works in order to understand.

By calling Lithuania his "Fatherland" Mickiewicz was referring to a region of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth he loved. Let us not forget that Mickiewicz wrote his masterpieces in Polish and that he was a Polish patriot as he died in Turkey raising Polish forces to fight against the Russians in the Crimean War in 1855.

I shall agree with you. Heretics such as Mickiewicz were enough damageful.
But as to his intuition of Fatherland, well I think it was not only common with him.

Coz it is a real challenge - some people feel the need to go to extremes to live happy lives. You know, adrenaline rush etc.
