Love / Polish Women Versus Your Local Women ? [289]

I was in Poznan and Szczecin. Regardless, there will be different people all over. It's a pointless discussion. Yes, I have a beautiful PL girlfriend, but I've had beautiful American gf's too.

Not true at all. I just got back from PL and the women sizes seem to be changing. When will you all realize there are beauties all over?

Food / Bigos Recipe [183]

Bigos needs to be prepared with sauerkraut and boiled cabbage. If you're just using the kraut, it'll be too sour. Check the recipes in the forum. Mine is the best ;)

Life / Why there is always around a horrible smell of sweat in Poland [188]

Europeans are known for not bathing and shaving legs and arm pits.

Huh? That's a stereotype from the 80's about EU and inaccurate. Some people may be au naturale, but the USA has hippies too :) Have you ever been outside the US, besides Cananda?

I never seen nothing like here!!

Smelled ;)

you may not liked but is the truth!!!

TBH, I could care less. I'd like to see the replies though. Good luck on your quest to extinguish body odor.

In another topic, you say you're living in a poor area. Perhaps this can explain your odor dilemma?

Yes, I'm sure they're on the streets with their laptops reading...

I just don't see it as a strange thing for any city that I've been. Common everywhere and of course I don't like it either, but I know some don't bathe.

Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

Mixing Żubrówka is an exception ;) I don't like flavored vodka and to me, this is.

For flavored, I use spirytus and fruit to make nalewka or make Miódówka.

Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

I like Pan Tadeusz. i picked up a bottle during my first trip as well as a bottle of 25 yr Wódka Kasztelańska.

My all time favourite is malt scotch (with a smoke necessarily)

Yes, sometimes I enjoy Glenmorangie 18 with a nice CAO XO :)

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

I wonder if the people complaining are Americans or Poles? Most of the Poles I know won't fly another airline and the Americans hate Lot - food sucks, RUDE, RUDE RUDE. They operate on a "need to know" basis and as a passenger, you don't need to know anything!

I'm American. Never had an issue. In fact, anyone that I know who fls with them havent had any issues. Maybe it's you?

Food / Bigos Recipe [183]

so it could be a disaster

I doubt that. Not something that you can really mess up unless you've never cooked before, but you're a southern boy....i'm sure you can cook.

Food / Bigos Recipe [183]

Thanks Vilius. I'd love to try this on an open fire with fresh venison or whatever.... having only some ingredients that are easy to bring. I still continue to change this recipe and add what I have at hand.

I'm not sure why abcdefghijklmno has to say what 'traditional' bigos is. There's no 1 way to prepare this.

Polonia / Polish Zloty Can't Exchange in France!.. [24]

France is visited more than any other country

I'm sure it is. Like M says...art, wine, cheese filet minon ;) What more can you ask for? Not sure about their beer though.

It's possible that not enough PL bring zloty into the country. When I travelled with my gf's family, they always exchange currency before leaving the country. I'd imagine this would also be done at the Airport.

It's not only France. We have a large PL population in NJ, but I can't exchange in a Bank of America or Commerce. If I go to a PL neighborhood, maybe one of their banks would. It's not common here anyway.

Food / Poland Spirytus recipes [39]

I also have 1 for : (christmas)

Ajerkoniak

1/2(strong) or less bottle of spiritus
1 vanilla stick
glass of sugar
5 yolks
2 glasses of milk.
You have to put a crushed vanilla stick to alcohol first and leave for two days, then grind yelks with
sugar add boiled (but cold) milk then slowly add alcohol, you have to beat whole mixture while doing it
otherwise bad things will happen, then bottle that mixture and leave in dark place for few hours.

Food / Poland Spirytus recipes [39]

Nice 1 Z_D

How about..

Malinówka:

1 liter Spirytus 95%
1/2 liter Vodka
1 kg Raspberries
1 kg sugar

Place berries (don't have to be Raspberries and time frame can be longer depending on fruit) in lg glass jar and add spirits. Let sit for 2-3 weeks shaking twice daily.

After that, empty liquids using cheese cloth (may take some time) and place in seperate bottle/s.

Add sugar to fruit and leave for another 2-3 weeks shaking twice daily. Leave in warm place...maybe sun or near heat. Don't cook.

Once the time is up you'll see that all of the sugar has liquified and this liquid has to be poured off using the cheesecloth. This may take longer being that the liquid is a sweet syrup.

Combine sweet liquid to the alcohol that was initially removed and place in bottles. Leave the bottles in a dark place for a few days and you'll see that the sediment has settled to the bottom. Pour off the clear liquid and bottle seperately. You now have your own Nalewka :) Smacznego!!

** If you'd like to use cherries, the time will change to 4 weeks. Also, please try to find Wisnia (sour cherry) as these are the best for this.

Miodowka (honey vodka)

3-4 lg spoons of honey (pref. wielokwiatowy-Multi flower) I also add 1/2 spoon of gryczany (buckwheat)

****The better the honey the better the miodowka****
3-4 Cloves
3-4 cups water

Boil water and add the honey until both are mixed well and honey is liquid. Let cool.

Add 1/2 liter of Spirytus (if you want strong, add a little more)

Place in bottle/s and let sit in dark place for a week or more until sediment has settled ( is better with time ).

Pour off clear liquid, bottle and enjoy!!!

By the way its the 95% stuff.

Yeah...there really is no other. I've never heard of 80% spirytus...that's just vodka)

Food / Poland Spirytus recipes [39]

I have recipes for a few different types of nalewka. What type of liquor do you want to make?

The above way is a quick way, but probably won't taste as good as properly prepared Wiśniówka

Life / Cannabis / Weed in Poland... How much does marijuana cost per gram and how easy is to get it? [355]

Humboldt....been there done that. Yeah, it's good, but VT is still cheaper and just as dank as in CA. I used to live in SF and Rocky, that's not entirely true. Yes, there are nugs all over and the police don't really focus on this, but you can't smoke in front of them unless you want to lose your stuff. VT is same quality and much much cheaper. PS your indoor Hydro isn't all that good.
