I can't really comment as I've never been to Sheffield. However, I do seem to recall Michael Palin showing a few parts of it (he is from there, right?) and finding it to be very grey. A bit like Aberdeen and, I'd say, Katowice too. If you are saying both are dreary then that would seem to be the case.

Katowice has very few green areas compared to here. There is more discontent too but it is still safer than some other cities. Like any other city, it has its bad areas and its fairly good areas.

It's more or less the same now ;) The train station can be unsafe and it's generally less safe than here in Gliwice. Plenty skinheads in Katowice and Silesia in general. However, they tend to leave white Europeans alone if they are behaving themselves.

Off-topic? I was talking about the political spectrum and how you might not follow it as myself or my wife would, for example. It wasn't encouragement, it was agreement. I have no ill will towards Polonia, just realism about how complicated some aspects might be due to relative isolation.

Delph makes a good point! You have to live and experience the repercussions of political decisions here. Conventional spectral labelling isn't so clear cut.

The Holocaust differed from the Balkans genocide insofar as it was one-sided. Too much mud slinging is done in the Balkans. This always stood out for me and needs to be heeded, Mr Djoković listen and learn!! People look at mechanisms, I look at agendas. If I am to believe reputable sources, the Euro's path is predestined. Currency is set to change its form in the future. Poland, just like GB, has every right to retain its PLN.

To the OP, where is the drang nach osten? You know, the major part of democracy rests with the people, of course. If Poles voted for Tusk then they must stand by their decisions.
