Life / Why there is always around a horrible smell of sweat in Poland [188]

I have noticed this too when using trams and buses, My Polish flatmate however showers or baths at least twice sometimes 3 times a day, I've asked him why people seem to smell and he has no idea.

Polish deoderants can't be that bad, I've been using one that I bought in Piotr i Pawel and its the same brand as any I would get in the UK,

Could be down to the massive heat flutuations between summer and winter and people only using a "winter amount" of deoderizing products in the summer?

Work / Average monthly salary in Poland is around 1000 PLN (few hundred bucks). [387]

Wages here aren't that bad really, the average office worker seems to earn around 3500 pln per month which is more than enough to live fairly well as food and rent are so cheap. Things like electrical goods, cars and fuel aren't proportional to wages but everything else is.

Law / Driver's licence - How to exchange British one to Polish legally? [34]

I get stopped regularly due to having dark glass and headlights which point the wrong way as my car is RHD and the police do nothing, They usually ask for documents and I give them my v5 and they are on their way, Generally police in Poland have a poor level of education and get nervous when someone speaks to them in English.

Law / Driver's licence - How to exchange British one to Polish legally? [34]

That was written wrong, I meant dark glass which I had done as I was fed up with native poles staring at me when I stopped at lights and also as a security measure as it doesn't seem safe to leave anything in your car around here.

I speak to them in English as I don't speak Polish very well,

And yes I am the man, thankyou :)

Law / Driver's licence - How to exchange British one to Polish legally? [34]

doesn't that dazzle oncoming vehicles?

I did see them but on my BMW i just had to take the bulb out from behind and turn something to make them dip the other way and assumed that Mitsubishi would have fitted the same sort of system but they havent, I will try those stickers but i'm not sure how they'll cope with the heat from HID lights.

You should really change your license to a Polish one but you would be best with your UK one really as you can't get points on it outside the UK.

Life / Disco Polo - No No No No No! [95]

Discopolo is great! at least its more entertaining that american black gangsta wannabe's urging everyone to go out and "slap their ho's and buy a Hummer"

That first video sounds like a pisstake of some of ATB's tracks and aqua.

Quality stuff

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

Hate is a very strong word but..

Bureaucracy
The fact that travelling from city to another takes so long.
The food.

There are more than 3 things I like about it hence the reason i've stayed.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

The Polish postal system is actually a joke, They never try to deliver parcels or letters instead you have to go to your nearest post office to collect it, Now that is pure laziness considering the cost of actually sending things.

Love / Are Polish Girls scared of English Guys [124]

Generally they just don't like speaking in English unless you are rich and can buy them lots of cosmetics and clothes, (well the ones i have met in Poznan)

On the other hand I met a girl from a village just outside Poznan and she couldnt' do enough and baked cakes, cooked food etc which I found equally as strange.

Law / How to register a foreign Non-EU car in Poland? [25]

You can register a jap import providing there is no LHD drive alternative, for example the nissan skyline, Mitsubishi FTO, Eunos Roadster (mx5 in europe)

Takes a bit of doing but there is a Skyline GTR tanking around Poznan on Polish plates, When I spoke to him he told me that he was able to register in in Poland due to there being no LHD alternative.

Off-Topic / What's your connection with Poland? Penpals. [512]

Came here initially for a few months, Loved it, realised that England was a sinking ship and decided to stay a bit longer.

Have to go back to England next week though for a few months :(

Life / POLISH YOUTH compared to the youth in other Western countries? [57]

I would say that people my age (24) here in Poland are much more respectful than their British counterparts. I don't think drug abuse is too much of a problem here at all with students sometimes smoking weed. People here seem to drink much more than we do in Britain but they seem to know how to behave once intoxicated. As for promiscuity the French beat us all hands down and maybe even zee Germans. Most of the Polish girls i've spent time with have respect for themselves and their bodies with only not so nice ones being utter sluts. I don't think you can judge an entire nation and compare them to other entire nations but in my experience young people in Poland are much better behaved. I've never once seen a fight in the city centre after a night out but its almost guaranteed if you go drinking in any British town or city,

Life / Parking Fines in Poland [26]

I've had loads of parking fines in Poland and never bother paying them, obviously I always buy a ticket etc but sometimes especially when dealing with polish organisations you get tied up for longer than expected and come back late only to find a ticket on the windscreen. They can't trace UK registered cars so don't worry to much, Same with speeding fines etc.

Life / Popular and Practical Cars in Poland [49]

That volvo crashed is staged, The 940 is a rwd car so the engine would be mounted longitudinally, If you look at where it crumples it goes right through where the engine is, It looks at though the engine has been removed from the volvo for the test.

I personally would rather be in a big car as they are safer, I'm sure new large cars are safer than new small cars, These tests are using cars based on 20 yr old designs which isn't really a fair representation.

Life / BMW Poznan cutomer service is surprisingly good! [8]

I went yesterday to order a part, Everyone was friendly and helpful even used the UK BMW network computer to find my car on the system, I ordered the part at 16.30 yesterday expecting it to be here 2 days later, I got a phone call at 09.00 this morning saying it had arrived.

Quicker that my dealer in the UK and a lot more friendly,

Now my question is why can't all organisations on Poland operate this friendly high class service where they actually have a degree of respect for the customer? Service with a smile doesn't cost anything!

Life / Cost of converting cars in Poland to left-hand drive [58]

Poles can't drive very well so it could be demanding for them to drive a RHD car in a LHD country, Personally I drive around 1500 miles a week throughout europe and don't find it a problem at all and have never once crashed or for that matter come near, General road etiquette and patience work very well unlike the usual polish arrogance and total lack of regard for other road users which is so prevalent on Polish roads.

Life / BMW Poznan cutomer service is surprisingly good! [8]

A BMW is a normal car, theyre not exactly that expensive to buy anymore, even brand new. I just found it nice the way they made me a cup of coffee and treated me really well even though I was only buying a 100 pln part and booking it in for a service, Kudos to them really, Poznan Audi is terrible in comparison and audi are supposedly a manufacturer of high class/quality cars.

On the other hand BMW dealerships in the UK are terrible.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Polish girls beautiful? No thats what they have been told to think as they have no other redeeming features,

The personality of most polish females lets them down considerably, It would be like buying a Ferrari only to discover it has a malluch engine, Most polish women are sour faced, rude, controlling and possessive, Just a general observation but it seems to ring true with the majority.

Travel / VISITING POZNAN, can anyone suggest places to visit including good bars/clubs? [16]

Check out the FART resteraunt.

I had to get a photo of that,

Good sights in poznan....,

Stary browar you can't miss it, again stary rynek is very pretty, Brovaria in the old square do awesome beer, If you like clubbing SQ is very good, as is Pozdali, if the weather is good Pozdali plaza near the train station is quite good and has an outdoor pool, Citadela is also apparently very pretty but never been, looks huge though. The cathedral is also worth a look.

Avoid walking around jezyce, debiec and wilda districts at night as they can get quite rough,

Rodeo drive in stary browar do awesome food as does the Sushi bar on the ground floor of the WBK building near Stary Browar. Avoid the bistro cafes as they generally aren't very hygenic but are stupidly cheap.

Pubs worth visiting, Brogans is usually quite good, Kultowa, Johnny rocker, Minoga smells of sewage but the atmosphere is good, Terratorium is also quite a good club. Dragon is full of expats as is Prolitariat.

Can't think of anything else to add.

Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [267]

I just find that the majority of people stare at foreigners even in the big cities, Older generations seem to despise foreigners for some reason. Also Polish drivers never let english registered cars out of junctions I think that may just be down to arrogance.

Life / Which brand of Mosquito repellant would you recommend (Warsaw), or... [22]

I havent noticed too many of them this year, I usually get annihilated by them, avoid anything with deet as if you use to much it will make you ill, Could try that mosquito sound on loop, provided you have no children or dogs in the house you shouldn't be able to hear it.
