Life / Cannabis / Weed in Poland... How much does marijuana cost per gram and how easy is to get it? [355]

taking drugs and drinking alcohol can be controled by every individual if they use their brains properly

You obviously know NOTHING about the perils of addiction......

the word prescribed kind of sums it up, it has been given by the doctor. I'm all for cures and medication in the form of drugs like the example you gave

What about the people who have been prescribed drugs for pain and developed a dependence on them? A doctor issued the drug originally, so that is ok?

Alcoholics and drug addicts are to far gone so leave them to whatever fate has in store for them

i no longer drink or take drugs :)

Good thing you didn't feel that way before you stopped.....I for one, know many people who are recovering alcoholics and addicts, and they are valuable members of society....they also happen to be some of the nicest, most caring and giving people I know. They also tend to be the most selfless, given the hell they survived....they are grateful.....more than the average joe on the street (not directed to pf's Av Joe;)

Would you say that about a smoker that has lung cancer....."well, they did it to themselves, so just leave them to their fate and don't treat them"......idiot!

Life / Racism in Poland - the future [441]

but a nation without a history is like a tree without roots...
The history has to be there, can not be forgotten.

I agree with this also, but the past is what we are to learn from......we need to concentrate on today in order to ensure a brighter future. (you rock, btw, Eurola.....loved meeting you at TOP;)

but in order to live happily, you have to put that aside. Not to forget, because that is history, but to live in the present.

I sooo agree with you, Urszula! There's a saying, "If you have one foot in yesterday and one in tomorrow, you are P*ssing all over today." Stay in the moment.....it's the only one that counts.

Why don't you just contact the embassy....probably will have more luck with getting in touch with him there as opposed to finding personal address/phone number.

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

I don't believe the Polish Voice reflects accurately of what the majority of polish people think

If you bothered to read it, Lef, it's not the Warsaw voice that giving the opinion....it's the results of a survey connected by the European Commission Representation in Poland......I find it intriguing how you believe your voice is the accurate voice for all those in Poland when you don't even live there......hmmmmm!

Polish people are sick to death on being exploited

By making this statement, you are suggesting that everyone in Poland has a "victim" mentality. I for one do not believe this to be true, but of course I don't live in Poland, so I cannot say for sure.....reading the following article from the Warsaw Voice, I see a majority of Poles are beginning to welcome the changes brought on by being members of the EU (which, as stated somewhere else in this thread, is a give and take relationship with other members). Just my 2 cents....

Eurobarometr survey shows Poles happy with EU membership
Warsaw, Poland July 23, 2007

Eurobarometr, a survey by the European Commission Representation in Poland, shows a signficant improvement in Polish public sentiment towards Polish membership in the EU and increased support for European integration.

The improvement of public feeling in Poland is seen mainly when it comes to the assessment of Polish economy and the situation on the labour market. Almost half of Poles (45%) positively assess the state of the Polish economy.

Life / Electricity in Poland: plug and voltage? [73]

Polish Electrical Outlets

Can someone tell me about Polish electrical outlets? I know the voltage is the same as it is in the UK, but are the actual plugs different? Should I buy an adaptor plug here in the US or in Poland (I'm a cheapskate, so what's gonna save me money?) ;)

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

Impressive.

Yeah, it's great watching almost my whole salary go towards bills. Actually, I'm very fortunate....and like I said, I'm just happy that I'm able to work and support myself. I make enough to keep me happy----in otherwords, it doesn't take much to make me happy.:)

How would you feel passing shops every day knowing that you can only windowshop?

Or if you seen ads everywhere realizing that you'll never be able to buy new car, flat, and if you dare to have mortgage the next 20 -30 years will be miserable struggling?

I smiled all the time and I experience these on a regular basis.

or would you smile if you had bills to pay knowing that it's 75% of your salary?

Try 90%:) but still I smile.....just grateful to be able bodied with the ability to have a job!

Genealogy / Why are some Polish people dark complected, and others very light [511]

but I like being white. I don't see why so many women want to be so tan

I don't mind being white either, but I have very fair skin and am more likely to burn as opposed to someone with olive skin......has nothing to do with tanning........ I just think olive skin is a beautiful color for skin. My father had olive skin, my mother was a fair skinned Irish Lass.....guess who I take after!:) Another thing I think is it falls in line with the human yearning of having something we don't have......example, I always wanted curly hair, because mind is straight. I have a friend who has curly hair that wishes she had straight hair......simply a case of the grass being greener......:)

but I like being white. I don't see why so many women want to be so tan?

Yeah, I don't think a tan would go too well with the green melon:)
