History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Germany is Central!
France West and Poland is East....where is the problem???

It depends what classification you apply. If purely geographical position than Poland is as much central as Germany is. If you apply the post WWII division, than Poland is Eastern Europe together with half of Germany I'm afraid. :)

The term Eastern Europe is the legacy after Cold War and is pejorative. Somebody realized it in the west and I see that the EE countries are more and more often being called New Europe. (Ya old mugs! ;) ) Personally I don't mind the term EE. I think that there is a huge potential in this part of the world and with time this term would redeem itself but then again the way that you and noimmigration defend yourself from the sheer thought that Poland could be called Central European country makes me think...

noimmigration

you seem to claim that Polish culture is very different to the western one. Considering that the western Europe consists of Portugal as well as Wales I would like you to elaborate more on that. I'm looking forward to hearing from you especially about Polish literature and art. Might be quite an interesting read.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

Certainly. It seems that you are in luck. There is only one Piotr i Paweł in Silesia and it is in Katowice on ul. Bażantów 2.

Not my thing. I was in Deja vu and tried a dark Fortuna on tap and it tasted too much like cola.

Yeah, it is sweet. It's a pity you didnt like it. I actually thought I could impress you with that beer, but I guess not. :)

You should have no problems with finding them in your local piotr i paweł super market. If you like to experiment try also Koźlak, Książęce, Kasztelan or Frater.

Food / Polish Eating Habits [87]

The "shape" of a national cuisine is determined by the environment you live in. Try to feed an Eskimo only with Mediterranean food and vice versa, an Mediterranean with pure lard. The latter will probably die on heart attack and the Eskimo will fall on his face in no time, because the lack of required energy. Polish and English cuisine are the way they were meant to be.

News / 10,000 ISRAELIS READY TO CLAIM FOR POLISH CITIZENSHIP AND POLISH LAND! [628]

I came into this place to learn more about Poland. I already know about Jews.

I wasn't thinking about you. I'm saying something factual: There are many Jews who hate Poles even though Poles are virtually non-existent in their lifes. :)

As for anti-semitism in Poland, I think you should hear the voice of the main rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich, who said:

"Rozpowszechnione na świecie stereotypy są całkowicie nieprawdziwe. Kraje kojarzone z antysemityzmem, czyli niestety również Polska, w rzeczywistości wcale takie nie są. Antysemickie zachowania występują natomiast na liberalnym, wolnym Zachodzie."

"[Those] distributed stereotypes are totally untrue. Countries that are associated with anti-semitism, which unfortunately includes also Poland, are not anti-semite in reality. Whereas anti-semitic behaviors are present in liberal, free west."

Taking under consideration the fact that he actually lives in Poland he surely knows what he is saying, innit?

There are many Poles who still hate Jews even though no Jews are in Poland any more. What is their problem?

Strange people, innit? Just as strange as some people living in Israel and still complaining about the anti-semitic Poles. Poles are non existent in Israel, so what’s their problem? :)

I am still half expecting some old German with a long beard to show up claiming my farm is really his......I live in West Poland.....

Actually there are a lot of people in western Poland that find it no laughing matter. There is a group of Germans that want their property. :/

Love / Polish Girls vs Russian Girls [813]

i don't know but if another pole asks me "what do you think of our women?" i 'm gonna go bananas.
gaaawwwd, i can't even decide where to begin with how stupid a question that is and all the crap sentiments that are loaded in it.

Agree. I have a similar thing but with foreigners saying "so how are your women?" What do you want me to tell you for faks sake? That they love to cook, are very religious, family oriented and although very hard to get they just dream to have a very promiscuous and uncommitted sexual intercourse with a foreigner... Not just any foreigner, but only with you of course!

Although I really have a great admiration for polish women, when someone says that he loves Poland and is only able to come out with one argument to back this claim up, that polish women are hot, I find it very offensive. there's zillions times more to Poland and especially to POLISH WOMEN than just their peace of ass. :/

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

Some of the SS Divisions who put down the Warsaw Uprising came from the Boltic States.

Before anyone gets any strange ideas; Ukraine is NOT one of the Baltic states.:))

UK, Ireland / What do you hate about England and English people? [142]

No mention of vinegar on chips?

I love vinegar on chips as well as vinegar crisps. The milk in tea is not bad, but not good as well. I hated those small sausages in my full english breakfast. Can we really call them sausages?

I hate english moaners... Before anybody says anything, I hate the polish ones as well.

a more accurate view is that poles, desperate to make as much money as they possibly can, are pricing their fellow poles out of the market

this is obviously an uncomfortable fact for people do deal with... its much easier to blame foreigners than to take responibility themselves

A very fair point Bubba. But just to make things more levelled I think that we ought to mention that:

- polish politicians nor polish people didn't force the EU officials to accept Poland to the European Union

- polish politicins nor polish people didn't force british politicians to open Britains market for EE workers

- and last but not least, polish politicians nor polish people don't force British employers to hire them. Of course by them I mean polish workers and not polish politicians. :)

Basically British employers, desperate to make as much money as they possibly can, choose to hire a pole over their fellow brit, despite those British workers mortgage and obviously starving children, that we keep hearing about on this forum.

This is obviously an uncomfortable fact for people do deal with... its much easier to blame foreigners than to take responsibility themselves.

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

Direct translation of Murzyn (Negro) and Murzynka (Negress) have been the subject of discussion in Poland. There is an argument for finding new words due to the associations with slavery and an be viewed as derogatory.

Murzynka means "black lady/woman". Negro would be "Czarnuch" and not "Murzyn".

Why does this constantly come up as a topic and ends up as one big slanging match with the Polish contributors usually coming off worst?

Could you point out few of those posters?

If you don't like England with all its Pakistanis, Blacks and other ethnics that were born here then go back to Poland, no one asked you to come here in the first place, we've got enough cleaners here as it is.

I don't have anything against pakistanis, blacks, etc... And i don't live in the UK. A very beautiful country if I may add.

sorry when the english get happy they dont dance.. they start shouting and screaming and roaring, chucking beer bottles at the opposition and chanting...

Imposible! Eveyone loves synchronous dance! :)

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

I was in a supermarket the other day in England my England where you polish are uninvited guests, and there was this group of 7-8 poles and this one very handsome very successful looking asian guy shopping as well.

OMG, what a lovely story with happy end. Still, to make it even more dramatically and thus more interesting I would alter it a little. Check this out: Once on the car park, this envious bunch of filthy Polish wife beaters (it would be good if they were inebriated and smoking some cheap and nasty tobacco) put an attempt to assault this handsome, intelligent and horridly wealthy Asian, but it turns out that aside that he's handsome, intelligent and horridly wealthy Asian, he's also a very bold and fierce martial art master. He beats them up single-handed in a very Hollywood-like spectacular way, humiliates them by forcing to do what Poles are only good at, to clean his brand new Bentley Continental GT that is, and drives away in this shiny brand new Bentley Continental GT with their giggling from joy Polish girlfriends!

After that, all the people that were present on the parking lot, Indians, Pakistanis, blacks, English, Bengali, Chinese, Albanians, Pikes, gays, feminists and ginger midgets start a wonderful synchronous dance to the beat of a lovely song praising the multicultural model of modern Britain! Amen! :))

Ok Greg....I'm glad the Poles seem to like Blackadder (ww1) as much as us Brits.....They might look like idiots... .but they played a very big part in ending that war as well!!......Not like poor old Poland.....Flat out on its back as usual!!

Easy there aj, take a deep breath and count to 10. :)
