Language / Nice and easy sentences for Polish future in laws? [5]

^^ I'd like to point out that the above post was posted at 13:37 which = 1337 = Leet...so polonius3 seems that you're elite these days. Thanks for sharing these sentences as I plan on using these for my girlfriends family/extended family (the first sentence is obviously just for her parents though).

Thanks again!

Law / Obtaining PESEL, ID Card and Passport in Poland [39]

Sorry guys I was trolling :p couldn't help it. That's why I ended my post with, ask your local consulate. Seems to me like this guy's needs to do a little asking around through official channels. Just my 2 cents

Law / Poland - Temporary Residence card - Karta pobytu - required documents [142]

Odds are....negative decision = they will make things very difficult for you. Best to consult a lawyer or read what it says on the MSZ website. Not knowing the rules doesn't obstain you from them. Just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right :)

Law / How can I get Polish citizenship after been married to a Polish spouse [75]

wow, some scary situations here. I'd say if you were refused refugee status twice, and now want to marry..that won't look good for you in the eyes of immigration officials. Plus who knows if officials read this forum looking for foreign nationals trying to marry for citizenship :P

Also for anyone commenting on living in Poland and wondering if they need to speak the language...based on what i've read, after you fulfill the requirements of living in Poland legally for 3 years (while married) you will need to demonstrate that you speak the language. Please correct me if i'm wrong....

But hey, the above is just my opinion.

History / Any ideas what this is? Solidarnosc medal? [5]

whoa thats cool. any interest in selling that? my (soon to be) fiancee's parents are from there and i would love to present that to them as a thank you *insert emotional sentiment here* since they participated in the solidarity movement.

No worries if its not your place to give away/if you want it. Just really rough what everyone in Poland (and anyone who worked at the shipyards in Gdansk went through) and would love to have a piece of it to give to them.

Thank you. Sorry mods that its off topic.

Life / "Play" Internet contracts for international students without PESEL code. [7]

Hmm, what about for other EU citizens that have the equivalent? I'm guessing the answer is still no....

Looker, any idea (for pre-paid) what it costs for a SIM with 1gb or 2gb of data with talk and text on PLAY? My limited polish is failing me and i don't trust translations :(. Thank you

Genealogy / Adopted from Poland; trying to find my biological parents [99]

@jon357, PM'd. Thanks so much!

Got lucky, thanks to yourrootsinpoland.com they managed to find records from the gdansk state archive as this guy worked at the shipyard. Got everything we needed, including an address....now for the next step. Michal Gierszon was the guy i dealt with, great english and very prompt in his responses.

Would highly recommend.

Genealogy / Adopted from Poland; trying to find my biological parents [99]

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your comments, i'll respond to them all right now in the best way i can.

1)@pigsy, i'm searching from vancouver, bc, canada. I've tried using yourrootsinpoland.com but haven't come up with anything yet
2)@jon357, excellent point. Unfortunately, this information comes from the girlfriends mother. I have no way of knowing if its correct or not, but it seems like this entire situation is sensitive so i have no way of knowing if she's being withholding due to embarassment or something else. This is part of my problem

3)@Harry, quite frankly i don't. But based on my searches there's a lot of people with this last name in poland. Didn't know it was common practice to use a common name which doesn't actually belong to someone the mother knows........thats really depressing. But i'll take your word for it here.

The name is question here is Wieslaw Zawadzki

Genealogy / Adopted from Poland; trying to find my biological parents [99]

Merged: Looking for a way to find girlfriends biological father

Hi everyone,

I'll keep this short and sweet, here are the facts:

1) Girlfriend was adopted by step-father 3 years after she was born (evidenced by her birth certificate being printed 3 years after she was born)
2) I know the father's first and last name...but its very common.
3) I know his approximate year of birth, but thats it. Don't know where he was born or anything like that
4) I know he has two son's in their 40's.
5) I know where he worked just before the girlfriend was born.

Any detectives on here..or can anyone point me in a direction?

Thanks so much for your help in advance.

Love / Polish women are angel [30]

I too have fallen in love with a polish woman, however that was only because i long denied what i really wanted (as i'm of eastern european descent) and i was naturally attracted to what was most familiar to me. They are definitely the most loving of people, but for the love of god, learn the language so you can ask her parents permission to marry properly. Other than that, i bid you good luck sir.
