Life / Moving to Poland - Checklist / Things to Consider [33]

I have strange feeling that this text has been wrotten by someone from North of America...

About language - everywhere that you go abroad you'll find a language barrier.

About medical care - health care in Poland is general, common and enforced by government.

About expenses - if you're coming from rich country to some needy country it'll be naive to kipping hope for saving current living standard. Impecunious country are poor because of lower incomes and higher prices f.e. new car in Poland is about 30% more expensive than in US, and your salary is about 80% lower.

Poland is beautiful and hospitable country, unfortunately for many, many economical and bureaucracy reasons is not attractive to settle in and live.

Less expensive option is take a taxi from airport to Gdańsk Dworzec Główny -train station (cost about 60pln, time 0,5h)
Or take a bus from Gdańsk Port Lotniczy to Gdańsk Dworzec Główny (cost not more than 10pln time 0,5h)
and then take a train from Gdańsk Główny to Słupsk (cost about 60pln, time 2,5h) [mt.rozklad-pkp.pl]

Love / What is this feeling? <Filipino guy / Polish girl> [50]

I think both countries, Poland and Philippines are quite similar, because:
Both are Christian, catholic ( more or less same culture like wedding, burial, nascence ceremonies)
(what it's very rare for Asian country i think)
Both were under occupation. Poland was under German and Russian and Philippines was under US occupation more or less in the same time, and declared independence also more or less in same time like Poland did.

Both were communistic.
Philippines language belongs to Polynesians language group, so we have even part of our alphabet common , even articulation. It easier to learn tagalog than other language like Chinese or Japanese. What is most great, they all speak a bit, or even more English language :)

At the end, I was very surprised when i find out that Pinoys are really in European size ( if U know what I mean ;)) of course, I'd notice that most of them are taller than me :)

It can be perfect match coz Polish have what Asians girls don't have ( big eyes, pale skin, long and thin legs, strait nose) and Pinoys have what Polish girls want(than skin, muscular build, mucho behave) but maybe someone other have different experience or different point of view...

Law / Selling a car without putting it in your name - Multiple Umowas - what's the deal? [25]

Yep, I wouldn't dare to drive a car without OC insurance.

Peter, polish law can supprise you in very unexpected way.
Many rules are not observe, and that is one of them.

Cost of deregister and afresh register is not much bigger than presumptive fine.
And when you have car registered outside Poland you are de facto above the law.

But guys, i had RH car from my brother who lives in UK, and my advice is better buy some LH car for your own safe.

Law / Selling a car without putting it in your name - Multiple Umowas - what's the deal? [25]

Peter, if UFG would do that, they have to talk with my lawyer first, becouse he have different opinion about private cars ( many of them are incomplete, some of them are registered , some are not anymore) on my private land.

They can ask, and you can refuse, but how do they now without any revision?

Law / Selling a car without putting it in your name - Multiple Umowas - what's the deal? [25]

Nope, it's fully legal situation.
When previous owner send a cancellation letter and new owner won't buy new insurance then car will be without any insure and out of action (off the road). It is comfortable option when you own a car but it is out of use from some reasons.

Even current owner , in any time, can send a cancellation letter to insurer when decide to leave the car without any protection, but then is not allowed to drive this car on a public road.

Law / Selling a car without putting it in your name - Multiple Umowas - what's the deal? [25]

Sorry guys, here is rectification about RDC,

It is said that Poland breach international rules by deny registration RHC, and it's said that polish government is obligated to conform polish law to international rules.

But how and when, nobody knows...

The question must surely be what is the limit? Because the old insurer cannot insure the car free indefinitely! So, I must be misunderstanding the situation. Anyone clarify?

From 2012:

The old insurer can insure your car automatically in the name of the law and you are obligated to pay them for all period that you were under protection until you'll file a resignation letter.

Law / Selling a car without putting it in your name - Multiple Umowas - what's the deal? [25]

Regarding insurance -- I was told (rightly or wrongly) that under some new law, car insurance continues with the old insurer unless a new insurer takes over. That is the default position and from that it seems that a car can never be uninsured because the old insurer has responsibility somehow even if the driver or owner of the car does not pay or does not buy new insurance. This to me sounds impossible, but it seems to be what some people say is the case now. The question must surely be what is the limit? Because the old insurer cannot insure the car free indefinitely! So, I must be misunderstanding the situation. Anyone clarify?

The insurance companies now are obligated to underwrite car insurance under current conditions (or better) to avoid situation of non-insuranced users. There is no limit, but no more than you're paying in current terms.

My second question is much simpler -- are right hand drive RHD cars allowed to be registered here yet?

Yes, till 2013y. RHD cars are allowed to be registered under polish high court decision:

Life / Going to Poland in a hijab - Polish people and Islam [154]

People hate muslims becouse of representative like you, Kamaz.
If you want to be welcome visitor in another country you must respect habits and customs of this country everywhere that you go. It's obvious. If not, better stay at home.

Come up in Poland wearing a hijab is not good idea. I live in big city, we have really lot of visitors here, especially in sumer, but i have seen non , even single one, wearing a hijab. My advice : it'll be safer for you to not wear a hijab or any other religion wear coz you'll be exposed to some unfriendly behavior, if U know what i mean...

Po polsku / Ruscy sieją propagandę na polskich portalach? [29]

Janukowycz zanim go obalono wysprzedawał wojskowy majątek by zamknąć budżet.

Travel / Solo Traveler to Krakow in August - Random Questions/Thoughts [9]

I'm sure you'll be surprised while experiencing different culture and customs, and i'm sure that first will be the way of eating habits in Poland. We are more or less like Italians, celebrates meals, without hurry. Don't be surprised when waiter won't be hanging around you all time. It is not rude, it just the way it is. Or tips are not something you must give, in very fancy restaurant is mandatory, but in pub stuff really not expecting to gain some extra money. It will be ok when you leave something, but it won't be rude if you don't.

And in some restaurant you can ask for " doggie bag" but in some small ins or eateries is not common occurrence, so to avoid misunderstanding better ask before you'll order the mill.
