Food / Hopless beer in Poland? [30]

*The degree to which food has been chemicalised is staggering.

and disgusting. since Poland joined the EU the change in food manufacturing has become pretty much like the American methods. The people here are getting fatter faster. It is one of my obsessions- trying to eat natural and organic foods.

But there are some good local breweries that still produce natural beers. Tyskie et al. are nothing but factory produced beer with a good portion of their ingredients being corn products.

Genealogy / Polish Gypsy Seliga (Szeliga) and Bunk (Bak) ...Need opinions [32]

right, ok, so you are still going to argue with me that they look Polish? Now you have decided based on the name that they could have some Jewish influence? Go back and read my original post. They could be Roma, Mediterranean or Jewish. I said it from the beginning but instead of saying that I could be right you decided to be a condescending b1tch and was adamant that I was wrong.

Sorry, this group of people does not look typically Polish. And I realize that not all Slavs have the same features, they do have some Slavic features but I actually think they look like a Greek family.

Sorry, those people in the photo look as though they have a mixture in them. He is saying they are from south west former Austro Hungarian, so it makes sense. I am also not talking about a recent mixture but something that has happened quite some time ago.

you have your opinion and I have mine.

yes, but a lot are. And dark hair and dark features are not Slavic so based on those photos I would say they are mixed. I am not saying they are not Polish. But they are definitely mixed with some other group.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

I have seen a few electric cars in Warsaw- they all have been Prius', and quite a few taxi's. My husband leased a client that required 4 or 5 electrical hook ups for their cars in the building.

Polish people need to justify the cost. The country is not there in being eko friendly. And most of the nouveau riche need to have their big ass suv's over an eko friendly car.

Food / I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM - the best ice cream shop in Poland? [34]

there is no need for baskin robbins. Poland has amazing ice cream. we don't need any more fast food crap here.

anyway, Grycan is good- that is probably the only chain style ice cream shop....and it is not much of a chain in comparison to Baskin robbins. Try Blikle, Batida (french) or some of the smaller independent shops. they are much better.

Life / Bribery and corruption 'fact of life' in Poland? [152]

newpip: and it is also well known that lawyers in Poland are exceptionally good at taking bribes.

No more than in your country !

agreed, but I would never be arrogant enough to say that there isn't.

It is not just a Polish phenom, I'm afraid.

There are loads of international companies that do businesses this way. My husband deals with this daily. Most recently and Polish was a bank but all companies all over the world do this. They just hide it better.

USA, Canada / Question about health care in the US for American permanent residents [19]

Poland has a two tier health care system. For those who want private care they can pay for it- it is directly to the company (medicover, luxmed)--there is no thieving insurance company that inflates the price. The monthly payments very from about 250 to 550 pln per month depending on what you need. (I could be wrong about those prices...it has been a while since I have checked)

There is also public health care, which is paid via taxes. Who ever in this world says any country has "free health care" they are grossly mistaken. The public care is hit or miss. In Warsaw we have used public care and have been absolutely fine with it. We have also used private and was angered and disappointed.

In our family we use a combo of public and private. If we need blood work or other tests we pay directly to the private clinic and have them done there, but I have had two minor surgeries at a public health care and was more than pleased.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

A country should be prepared to defend itself. The people of that country should also be wary of the government or to put it in other words; the government should fear the people instead of the other way around.

Defend itself against what?? America has already invaded--what else do we need to protect ourselves from? This is such bulsh!t American propaganda. Keep it in America. Poles have had enough of violence. And contrary to what the majority of Americans think----NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE AMERICAN.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

yes, but people, the average citizens don't feel the need to own a gun. It is a different mentality. Perhaps having their country destroyed by war a few times will do that. And not everybody wants to be American- even though Americans (not all) truly believe this.

That was a plain..can't think of another word.. stupid .thing to say.

The day the US attacks Canada is the day we have a presidente' por vida and are on our war to becoming Imperialist tyranny.

it was said "tongue in cheek", don't have a stroke.

The military and the police should be the only institutions allowed the right to deadly weaponry, in my view.

you are spot on. But then again, most gun owners don't trust the gov't to do their jobs so they think they have the right to take the law into their own hands. The states is too far gone with regards to gun laws or gun control. It is literally going to implode unless there is a new war to side track the issues. Maybe a war on Canada is needed. I am sure Canada has done something to **** off the Americans. Maybe the pipeline is an issue that needs a war.

owning a gun is not a natural right. it is nonsense that a majority population of a country has had brainwashed into thinking is true. A bible in one hand and a gun in the other. these same people think that global warming is the agenda of the left.

we just need to leave America alone, it will implode much like the Roman empire.
