Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

or was i???
he didn't actually miss it did he because if i actually just created the assumption that Canadian women like to bed foreign men to fry them up the next day in hot oil and eat them in someones mind i might actually have a good laugh about this for atleast a week :) Frying is fattening anyway baked would clearly be the healthier way to go. But Mike has survived a couple years so far lucky lucky guy.

USA, Canada / Canadian food and culture [5]

try and find the recipe for poutine sauce instead of gravy and that will help... a lot of places outside of quebec substitue gravy but the best poutine i have ever had used poutine sauce .. and my opinion is that the best of canada can be found in the far west coast british colombia or the far east coast newfoundland ... the east coast is probably a better trip because it is cheaper ... the people are the nicest in canada where everyone is pretty nice anyway... and the food and beer is better :) plus you can visit all of the eastern provinces at once because they are the smallest in canada :)

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

yes ... well unless my birth certificate was a forgery by my parents...

most of the canadians i know hate the american way of life and... american attitudes but dont really hate americans personally ... some dont care either way ... no one i know anyways is really gung ho i love the states best country ever.. not up here... mostly we just dont care. A lot of americans are nice enough people just like anywhere else good and bad but i dont like the way the country is run. i can say that for a lot of countries just because you dont agree with the economic make up or political system of a country doesnt mean you hate all the people in it that is where people just keep getting confused.

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

we all generalize, i would hope in todays day and age no one is ignorant enough to assume all people in every country are exactly the same. Then again maybe i am hoping too much. I will state again as i have stated time and time again i do not hate every american i don't even know ever american and thus cant have an opinion on every american. I have met a number of americans some i liked some i did not ... my dislike has nothing to do with individual people just the country as a whole does nothing for me. I have meet a lot of ( not a lot not all) pushy arrogant americans who think the sun shines out of their countries ass and they are the best thing in the world just because they are an american that attitude i dislike. I am Canadian i love my country but i am well aware it has it's issues as well as it's great points, as do all countries. Most americans ( again most) are either completley blind to any issues or refuse to acknowledge them and usually resort to ya well if there was a war between us we would kick ur butt... i mean really. When i said it is not only polish people in america that hate americans i was simply stating there is a lot of negativity coming at americans from all corners of the world they arent as well liked as maybe they once were so is american the greatest country in the world no... not anymore.

4 eigner...
stop trying to generalize french canadian vs english canadian... my experiences are neither french nor english simply just .. mine and have nothing to do with my language. There are canadians who identify as french canadian some who identify as english canadian and then most of them just identify as canadian yes even in quebec (depending where) I dont speak about americans any particular way as a whole.. I have had many bad experiences with americans and i have never met another canadian in all my love that loves the usa and everything about it... like i said most dont give a hoot.

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

a lot of american hockey teams are better these days ( most of them are filled with canadian players though) Depending where you moved you would be surprised about the differences in culture. that being said this is a post about polish people hating americans not canadian culture so lets not change the subject... bash on polish american haters bash on . lol ...

And if you moved to any english speaking country the adjustment would not be as difficult as say moving to some parts of europe. I don't think britain or scotland or ireland or australia would be any more of an adjustment for you than canada... Just the weather in each country lol. That is just simply a reduction of language barrier and not necessarily all aspects of the culture. Some americans would have more difficulty fitting in in Canada than others would. Depends where they are from and where they are going.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

i will admit the first time i saw an uncircumsized penis i was rather put off...since my boyfriend is polish he is not circumsized and .. since i plan to have children with him if it is a boy he is adamant he will not be circusized so i have done research. There is no medical proof that circucision is better or worse. As long as the child is shown proper hygiene it is fine. When it is erect it is no different than a non circumsized penis and if you are doing it right it should be erect so whats the problem. men who are not circumsized are also more sensitive because the head is always covered and isnt rubbing against their underwear or pants all day so it is more fun to. :)

my comments were no different than they are now... i still feel the same way about it all ... you are just interpreting them differently now that i told you i am really never very serious..

i am not your princess i am actually far froma princess ... and i certainly don't need a prince ... they suck i prefer my men rough

i am not polish... yeesh

and although you are an american i think you are quite nice and fun to talk to so see i must not hate all of you although you are one of the few americans i have found quite nice and fun to talk to ... maybe it is becasue we are not in person so you cant be loud

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

flannel cap

it's called a touque :)

some people hate everyone that is their own issue if you let it worry you you are making it your issue. I think it is a rare thing in Canada and the united states for someone to hate someone else simply becasue they are polish or russian or british or italian or whatever they are... they may hate a polish person for other qualities but becaue they are polish that is not so common these days. It does still happen although in Canada i see it more so towards native canadians than polish people and in the states more so towards mexicans than polish people... again it is their own person issue why make it your own.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

it is done across the board in north american because years ago a dr. published a paper suggesting it was possibly healthier and more hygenic ofcourse the paper was published without much research and it held little fact. People read it health care proffessionals started pushing it and then it caught on. Dr's caught on quickly that it is not healthier or more hygenic at all and there are really no benefits to it but ofcourse it made money so it was kept pretty hush for a while by the time it started to get around that it was not beneficial at all almost all young boys who were born had it done so parents continued to do it for asthetic reasons if no other. Only recently have papers been published to suggest it is actually beneficial to retain the foreskin for protection as well as pleasure this is slowly starting to spread around and people are slowly catching on that however some still opt to have it done to their newborns because they fear him being different. In Canada they are no longer training doctors to circumsize so you have to either have a dr. already trained in your town or city or bring the child somewhere that does in my hometown the dr who knowns how is 64 and will be retiring soon and this is the case all over canada in the next 20 years there will be next to no dr.'s if any that know how to do it and in 30 years it will be a done deal. People will either have to bring their babies to the states to have it done or not have it done. The high cost of travel and medical procedures in the united states should stop the majority of people from going there so it will slowly fade off here and not be practiced anymore.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

the definition of poverty is not to be able to meet ones most basic needs. .... if you have a roof over your head clothes on your back and food in your belly you are not poor.

Poland is not a third world country the majority of the populations basic needs are met and those who cannot meet their own basic needs can find help to do it, poland is not poor.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

For example a minimum expectation would be to have toilet within your apartment

while i don't know the accuracy of what you are saying in regards to not everyone having an individual toilet... it is not a minimum requirement of basic needs. Basic needs are ones that human beings need to survive Food Shelter Water and depending where you live clothing for coverage in harsh conditions in those most basic terms even indoor plumbing is a luxury most countries do not afford so on a world view like that having to share a toilet is much better than not having one, and doesnt make you poor.

for a world view.. according to the u.n a poor country would be defined as one where most of the inhabitants live on less than 1 american dollar a day. This would be insufficient for covering ones basic needs. The poorest countries in the world are ones with a higher percentage of population living below this threshold. For the sake of knowledge these are the 20 poorest countries in the world.

1)Democratic republic of the condo
2)Liberia
3)Zimbabwe
4)Burundi
5)Eritrea
6)Central African Republic

UK, Ireland / Do the poles like British culture [127]

just thought it worth mentioning that James bond and the sun paper would not be top on my list

i think the op meant people who have never lived in england and are now just living there.... people who don't live in england and haven't been to england might not know much more about their culture than james bond rock concerts and pubs, although i associate good pubs more with ireland which is a distinctly different culture. So when these people originally go there are they interested in those things or in furthering their knowledge on british cutlure to a level where they realize it is not just james bond rock bands and pubs.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

yes pip but western standards are standards of excess ... poland is maybe poorer in terms of economics but probably richer in culture, morals, and the existance of the family unit

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

morality would refer to a code of conduct considered reasonable by most persons in a society. 50 years ago the code of conduct considered reasonable by western society was a much higher standard than it is today.

people lose their virginity on average in north america when they are 13 years old
20 percent of women will have had one abortion before they are 18 in canada
elderly people are placed in homes because people are to busy working to get rich to afford monetary richness and don't have time to care for them

1 out of ever 6 people in a nursing home gets a weekly visit
the average cost to feed a hospital patient per day in canada 5 dollars the average cost to feed a prison inmate 11 dollars
These all seem very immoral to me.
With freedom of this and freedom of that and freedom to all do as we please we have lost a sense of self respect dignity the importance of family and right from wrong. only 1 in 12 families in north american eats dinner at the dinner table the rest either both parents are working to provide a life of luxury for their children or they prefer to eat in front of the t.v

i could go on and on with statistics that depict a lack of importance placed on the things that really matter in exchange for being the richest countries in the world and this is the price you pay for a richness in economics... a poorness in culture in family in ethics and families and values.

I would rather be poor by western standards ( not owning 2 cars, a computer, an iphone, etc) than continue to watch this so called wonderful western world lose itself to the almighty dollar.

exactly pip... i think we are saying the same thing differently. Poverty may mean different things to different people but to truly be considered a poor country by definition of poverty not being able to meet basic needs, it would have to have a gdp per capita of less than 1000 dollars a year so most people could not meet basic needs and it would also have to have little to no social programs to assist those who do live under the poverty line. few people actually live below the poverty line in poland (meaning make so little money they cannot afford food shelter and water) less there than in the united states and those who do can be subsidised therefore poland is considered a developed country not a poor one or undeveloped.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

yes jon it seems the more financially rich and economically stable a country becomes the more like the west it becomes... Becoming a part of the EU might be good for economics but... not so good for culture, for family values not to mention you will see obesity sky rocket

that being said statistically speaking poland is no where near like the west with the the things i hate about modern life.
obesity is low there
teen pregnancy is low there
the average age to lose your virginity in poland is 17 seems more resonable
families eat at home much more often and together much more often
elderly parents are kept at home much more often and in cases where they are not visited much more often.
etc...
so no poland has not sunk to the lows of the west... yet

actually i am a non religious canadian... not at all what i have to say but ... nice try.
and yes jon proper care for the elderly is important but is sending them to a nursing home doping them up and never visiting them really proper care, it is especially inexcusable in a rich country like mine where the financial burden of having them live at home and hiering a nurse to attend the home daily would be affordable but it is never done because people are too busy to be bothered with family here with the small thiings that matter. I have nothing agaisnt an open mind or a permissive country but with the amount of drug addicts teen pregnancies and sponges on the social welfare system that countries in the western world have perhaps that openness and permissiveness has gone to far. Parents are far too busy getting rich here and buying their childrens love to pay any attention to them.

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

yeah but over 20% of Americans claim German descent so it's just as much German as it is American ;-)

no it is actually entirely german and not at all american... just another borrowed food americans like to call their own although americans did destroy the beauty of the home made hamburger with fast food joints, not that canadians are any better there... hard to find a good hamburger in north america
