Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Ok ;) well here you get my ego ;) yes we are , great complextions - ballanced body forms-no matter where we live in the world we are sure and stable with our feminity, we are strong and independant...nothing sappy about us, no one HAS to care for us... :0 most people just adore us because we are humanistic... ;) shall i go on.. ;)

Even at 60 i get comments..we age well and take care of ourselves(in my case for the love of my grandchildren, who wants a dowdy gramma?) and you should see my daughters!!!

;) LOL!!!

History / Poland: Her heroes and her traitors [214]

was also buddies with Thomas Jefferson who became the 3rd president of the U.S.

;) Yes American history.. and Pulaski reigns high on our list of patriots also, with several towns and cities named after him. ;)

He stayed loyal to Poland.
And what's a problem with betraying traitors? I would do the same.

Agreed

Take a look calmly isn't it depending on position of view ? I'm pretty sure that the opinions about traitors and heroes would be completelly different if USSR still exists and if the position of the USA is weaker :)

Between the freedom of America and the Gulags of Russia? Theres a choice here? regardless of 'strength" i'm going with freedom

Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

Magdalena: I personally think the choice of "must" was largely influenced by the preceding "necessary".

agreed, often a test is skewed by it's choice of terms and the perceptions of the reader..or their personal prior knowledge.
US makes a second language a MUST in secondary schools, most are opting for Spanish or French. Latin is still a strong choice in Catholic schools and Chinese is growing in popularity.

Why don't the Brits expect a knowledge of a second language? Because they are an island?

News / Amber Gold and other Poland's suspicious institutions [139]

So far, it is the local Tax Office which has to return 11 million PLN which had been paid by the fraudster as tax from profits which never existed.

Awful!!, the tax office means it was paid in advance and now is being refunded?
or everyone who is paying taxes is losing here? LOL That would be very American :)

Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

I will be the third person to point out that you are wrong.

Great ;) and thanks to all = wasn't aware ...interesting that so many folks are exposed to various languages and English still factors as most common usage.

Have students from all over the world...every one of them has had exposure to English...mostly the British style; so in America it can get rather confusing for them.

Yes i am very gentle with them, helpful and understanding...the experience of sitting in a classroom where your listening to another language even if you 'know' it can be daunting!

;) sorry folks my experience with England is airport layovers/refueling only...i'm not real comfortable on islands ;)

Life / Polish vs British vs American - Clash of cultures [390]

so why are you making sweeping statements about the education system here then?

;) it's an island to me ;) shorelines are too close-
i like the thousands of miles between the Atlantic and Pacific
;) makes me a 'landlubber'
Not into large bodies of water....couldn't have made it in the Navy like pawian!!! :0
a good sweeping statement always gets some accurrate responses...when you want the truth it ALWAYS works ! ;)
So basically if you are part of the Modern world, connected to internet just about every place that educates it's children requires a second language , at least one to be taught in school.

strzyga
great stats posted on Poland that report was nice. Thanks for sharing.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2971]

Worrying about a baby? How ironic. When men will be able to deliver babies, then they will decide what women should do with their asses.

agreed! When men can give birth they can tell us what to do, some of us would not choose this action, but who am i to tell someone their choice? I did not wake up as God this morning and neither did any of these men.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2971]

General statement: Again, contraception before abortion!

This i whole heartedly agree with!
No i've never been faced with this choice, two freinds have..they made their choice (husband and wife) based on knowledge of the sever handicaps the child was going to have, both of which included incomplete brain developement...if it had just been physical developement i think both would have chosen to keep the child...

but think of the finacial strain of a severly developmental challenged child, and the fact that most insurrance companies here in the US would drop the child at birth because of a pre-existing condition!

Also adoption is not what folks claim it to be ...there are millions of adoptable children in the world, which means allot of folks won't do this act of kindness.

Our family , while in Poland had several children that were raised within our family group because they were orphaned...
so i think maybe Poland has a good cultural tendency not to abandon it's children...but it is not a common cultural trait.
When you relegate abortion you should also relegate the future of the child?
Children of rape if exposed to the purpetrator are generally exposed to that crime themselves...where is the morality in that?
Don't believe me, volunteer to be a rape crisis counselor, some very ugly truths will present themselves to you.
If you don't want a child is it better to bring them into a world where no one else wants them either?
how many of us have adopted one of these forlorn children? When we 'walk the talk' maybe there can be positive change.
I did not know i was pregnant till the second trimester both times..Doc's said i was extrememly healthy and that i was how it was supposed to be...

By the time i saw an ultrasound there were legs, arms and facial distinctions.
Would i have chosen to abort if something was wrong? it depends..i know the people who have lost children this way have to live with their decission for the rest of their lives, and i still visit the graves of the two children my freinds lost...

Life doesn't begin at conception, it takes a few days for that combination to create 'life'
Still i will never take the choice away from anyone, if you so don't want that child that you are willing to abort....what life would that child have if you wanted it that little?
