Life / Racism in Poland - the future [441]

Merged: Report on racism in Poland

cms.horus.be/files/99935/MediaArchive/Poland.pdf
doesn't make for happy reading.

One bit in the summary made me wonder: "The racist crime rate in 2009 increased in comparison to previous years. In particular, black people are vulnerable to verbal and physical attacks. AntiSemite slogans and posters still remain a problem." Is that increase caused by an increase in racism in Poland or is simply that there are more minorities in Poland and so there are more of them for crime to be committed against?

UK, Ireland / Grateful Polish photographer stitches up his Welsh hosts [96]

There's a set online. flickr.com/photos/maciejdakowicz/sets/1391696/with/3066671354/

There isn't a problem with art reflecting life. The problem comes when a person attempts to use carefully selected images to mock other people, which rather appears what the photographer is doing here.

Des Esseintes
The thin-skinned British nationalism that inspired this thread is lamentable.

I'm neither British nor a nationalist. If an Italian photographer spent five years living as a guest of Poland and then went to Germany to exhibit photographs of the worst parts of life in Poland, I would find that equally objectionable. Perhaps more so, given that I am never bothered by the bigotry of people who pretend to be British and so bring shame on Britain but I am bothered by the bigotry of people who pretend to be Polish and so give the erroneous impression that Poles are anti-semitic retards who can not even spell their own name.

Des Esseintes
A photographer documenting scenes of real life on the streets should be free from reproach regardless of his nationality.

What about if they are Ukrainian? You do seem to have such a problem with Ukrainians.

Life / Wisdom Teeth Removal - How and expected Cost in Poland? [10]

I checked some private cilinics' web site on the internet, prices are varying 100-200zl for each tooth.

You are not going to get a wisdom tooth pulled for 100zl, not a chance.

Personally I go to Art-Dental on Lucka street and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Real Estate / Cost to build in Eastern Poland - Ideally per m2 [71]

The 3K figure is what they give you to build a replacement house, so its the official, true, figure based on what builders are currently charging.

And of course, they would never dream of trying to get away with giving you less money than you actually need, would they?

There was one on the tram this morning. Although she was more of a female than a lady.

Personally I love the drinking culture in Poland compared to the UK.

While I was walking to the tram stop this morning, I saw a drunk man pissing against a wall right outside a primary school. Mothers and kids were walking past him but he didn't give a fcuk.

The pictures at dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2040260/Binge-drinking-Shaming-images-turned-Britain-laughing-stock.html show Cardiff by night and were taken over a five-year period by Polish photographer Maciej Dakowicz. Somehow he managed in five years to take photos of drunk people out on a Saturday night. Shock, horror: some people drink and get drunk. But it seems that dear Maciej wished to show the worst of the place which has been nice enough to host him: "'The reaction [of the people who attended his exhibition in France] was very positive,' says Dakowicz. 'The audience was laughing. They were making fun of British people.'"

What a charming gentleman.

And apparently nobody in Bialystok ever gets drunk and appears in public: "Dakowicz admits that he would be unable to produce images like this in his home town of Bialystok in Poland."

Law / 1 euro = 4,46637049 złotego polskiego [21]

It's 4.39 now.

4.3925 to be exact. As is shown here: nbp.pl

And according to the information here nbp.pl/home.aspx?f=/kursy/kursy_archiwum.html
the rate now is lower than it was in 2009.

Where did you get this from?

Mark's special fantasy land. The same place where he is able to buy a flat despite not having a real job.

Life / Babcia or Busha - any social class difference? [359]

No, she was Polish and you are an idiot Dopeyandomine. The explaination has been given for the term "Busia" and your lies have been exposed.

If she is Polish, why doesn't she know that it isn't a Polish word? The authoritative multi-volume Slownik Jezyka Polskiego (dictionary) of Karlowicz, Kryñski and Niedzwiedzki (Warsaw, 1905) lists the following forms: “babka, babcia, babciutka, babeczka, babusia, babuœ, babuchna, babunia, babuñcia, babuleñka and babulinka.” The “busia” version is not among them.

Wow, I don't think I've ever before heard of a plastic Pole whose ancestors weren't even Polish!

News / 4th Polish Republic may re-emerge [244]

Michnik had a daddy and bro, who were (I think the latter pieace of **** is still alive) genocidal criminals, is that a problem for you ? I didn't hear you complaining about it but of course Kacz's father being a low rank PZPR member (just like parents of many PO politicians) is a terrible thing. How dared he to have a father like that, shame on him.

Michnik never hid behind his daddy, unlike Duck Boy, who somehow stayed out of prison in commie times.

Travel / Cheapest eating places in Warsaw? [27]

Just any nice small cheap place for food.

Vega just off Solidarnosci (behind Kino Femina) has fairly cheap and usually excellent food.

Subway do a Sub of the day for 7zl (13zl for the 30-cm version) and a breakfast Sub for 3.90, so you can certainly get three meals a day from Subway for under 600zl per month.

Life / Poland: worst teeth in the world? [98]

The skill of Polish dentists is on a par with anything I've seen (felt) in the UK and elsewhere, but the prices for private dentistry are much lower here.

I'd say that the dentists here are much better than dentists in the UK or in the other countries I have lived in. And the prices for private work here are pretty much what you'd pay for NHS work in the UK.

Law / What are the legal and financial consequences of DUI in Poland? [12]

a colleague of my husbands just got caught for drinking and riding a bike.

I know a guy who got six months in prison for riding his bike while drunk (he was riding a bike because he had lost his driving licence for driving while drunk).

I have medals Harry for the 100metre sprint under 12's and under 14's in the community games,

And doubtless those are the two biggest achievements of your life, which is pretty damn sad really.

AND I have no problems with getting women unlike you Harry..

I'd imagine that any female creature you can get would be unlike me. And I'm sure that they are hugely impressed with the desirable residence which you take them back to: caravans are so fashionable at the moment, aren't they?

However, was it Shaw or Wilde who said that America and Britain are two nations divided by a common language.

It was neither, actually. I'm surprised that a man as learned as yourself should make such a mistake.

Although given that you appear not to know that a question form is followed by a question mark, perhaps you are not as learned as you would like us to believe?

Ban and a fine are minimum. Jail is possible. If you are more than double the limit, you can also have your car seized.

does it also inform other member states of EU,car rental agencies?

Your national license will be taken from you and sent to your embassy so it can be sent home and cancelled.

if refusal to take test is an option?and what are the penalties then?

Refusal to take a test is a crime. If you are really drunk, they can and will legally force you to take a blood test (the justification is that they need to know what medical treatment you need).

You Can have a four star hotel in London for the price of a B&B in London (50£ a night for a 4 stars you said, right?) but in Gatwick and certainly not in Central London!

Twickenham, actually. Am I wrong in thinking that that is London? Although do feel free to now move the goalposts and insist on 'central' London now that you have again been proved wrong.

so, no class prep from you so...

One ‘hour’ in the Polish education system is actually 45 minutes. Fifteen minutes is usually more than enough time to prepare for a 45-minute less. Thirty minutes is certainly more than enough to prepare for a 90-minute lesson. Maths really is not your strong suit, but then do you actually have any strengths at all? It certainly seems not from your performance here.

Work / Salary for Teaching EFL in Krakow [120]

Of course not, if there is no law there is no law.

And the law is that citizens of nations where Poles are permitted to run one-person companies are allowed to operate dzielnosc gospodarcza and citizens of countries where Poles are not permitted to are not allowed to. But do feel very free to ignore this fact and just keep banging on about utter bollocks. This is your best line of drivel since you claimed that B&Bs in London cost double the price at which a room in a four-star hotel can be had!

LwowskaKrakowBelieve me there is absolutely no law to prevent someone to set up a business in Poland whether you are from Latin America, Middle East, China etc as long as :

And as long as the person doesn’t want to set up a dzielnosc gospodarcza. The right to do business in such form most certainly is limited to Poles and certain foreigners (e.g. US citizens can run that form of business but Canadians can not). And given that operating any other type of business will mean significantly higher start-up costs and running costs, the disadvantage which one can be put at in comparison to persons who can run a dzielnosc gospodarcza is enough to de facto prevent one from doing business on a certain scale in certain industries.

You really should stick to giving advice about things which you have a vague clue about.
