Travel / Pot in Poland for tourists [285]

agc I don't don't krakow well but I am sure if you ask around you will find some...in Warsaw I smell it often in public even so it's out there for sure. I met two smokers the other night just chatting when someone asked me if I smoked as they needed a light...I said "smoke what?" and they got a big smile and we started talking. You just have to ask.

Yeah you are going to have to go to some popular pubs or hang outs in the evening/night and just talk to people...even then you likely won't get any then but rather a contact. You won't find it at midday anywhere unless you know somebody. It sounds cliche but look for stoner looking hippies. People dress the part here a lot and if someone looks like a smoker they likely are.

Life / A rant on customer service in Poland [42]

I feel your pain. The apathy that is common in Poland is manifested in the worst way when it comes to customer service. It is probably the thing I hate the most about the country. The rest of the quirks I can deal with as all places have some. I have had several incidents of things being broken out of the box and the saying "send it to service" instead of replacing it or refunding. They seem to have zero concept of responsibility and will not correct errors as nobody will ever accept blame which involves admitting a problem. Not going to happen here.

And Play has to be the worst phone network in Poland. Good prices but **** service that has a lot of empty coverage and network problems. I took about 10 trips to various Play shops over the course of ONE month fro problems and got nothing but excuses and runaround. I am back to Orange.

That's the thing...they don't care where you go. And they don't care if you are out money. They just don't care at all about anything but exact change and going home.

Poles accept this **** service as it's "normal" for them so they will not go out of business. "Should" is a word used a lot here.

In the case of shops I don't know why they are so weird about change....they have it. Nobody has ever given me a plausible explanation as to why they look so pissy or sad when you don't have it.

In the case of delivery I bet it is a lie most of the time to try and get more money. I have had taxi drivers do the same and I said you can take this and give me change or give me the ride free...and they somehow find it. To be fair I have also had some take 20zl for a 25zl ride etc when faced with the "20 or 100zl is all I have" statement.

UK, Ireland / Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit [269]

The driver didn't leave when told like all the other drivers except the Turk. The turk took his fine and left without a mess. The Pole whined and made a drama and acted like a child. Yep clearly anti Polish.

Plastic Pole people like you give Poles a bad name. Your type constantly defends ****** behavior out of some blind sense of nationalism where everyone else is always to blame. Why will you not address the fact the he was the ONLY one who didn't do as told except the Turk who did so quietly once the additional Police came? This Pole's behavior was WRONG, and ridiculous. The Police did nothing wrong. If he had been Hungarian or British or anything else you wouldn't care but because he was Polish you jump to his aid. It is a horrible habit many Poles have...inability to admit fault and shifting blame to everyone else in some dramatic fashion. This grown man acted like a baby.

If this were a Romanian driver in Spain...there wouldn't be so much argument going on. This is a case of Polish pride pure and simple. The Poles arguing cannot admit one of their own acted like a goof. Ego is a silly thing.

PlasticPole certain cultures do this "carrying on" far more than others. Find me a Finn or German or Australian or whatever who acts like this. If you even can I will find you ten Italians, Poles, Arabs of various nations to every one you can find. It is simply ridiculous behavior for any nationality.

Again....everyone else parked there left when the highway guards or whatever they are called said to...except this Pole and one Turk which is why the Police were called. And contrast the Turks behavior when questioned to the Poles. The defenders here keep ignoring the fact that he was the ONLY one who threw a tantrum.

Monia just stop. You are so nationalistic you can't even pretend to be fair here. Just stop.

You now as well as everyone does if this driver was from a country you don't like you would respond totally differently. Just forget he is Polish and face that he behaved like an infant unlike all of his colleagues that day.

The knife aside his defenders keep ignoring that fact that he refused to leave when told and after nearly everyone else did. He then cried like an infant throwing a tantrum when they took him out to sort it. His behavior was ridiculous regardless of where he was from.

Monia I have lived here a long time and know all about Poland's good and bad. You are part of the bad with your smug and nationalistic behavior rooted not in reality but in the fantasy of your own mind.

So your knowledge of proper UK Police procedure is rooted in your being born in Poland?

I like a lot about Poland. And a lot about Poles. The behavior you are exhibiting is not one of those things and thankfully not extant in every Pole...though it is in many. Why can't you just be reasonable instead of so blindly nationalistic? There is a lot about the USA I don't like and have no problem owning up to those behaviors as a generality in my fellow Americans. Why can't you just do the same? It isn't difficult. Just drop the ego.

Love / Polish wife is threatening me to pay child support 1000zl per month. [40]

Papa a good lawyer is about all you can do. She has home turf advantage, family support, and as you can see cultural racism on her side. Don't do anything stupid...fight her with the law. I don't know how possible it is but if you can find an Indian lawyer here in Poland at least you can have someone who understands what you are up against.

Monia those officers were extremely professional and very gentle. I am not sure what your complaint is with them.

And you are most certainly NOT exhibiting common sense. Common sense doesn't succumb to ridiculous nationalistic drama.

Love / Polish wife is threatening me to pay child support 1000zl per month. [40]

Papa I am not a lawyer but I am sure Polish law has rules about percentages for child support etc. She also would have to prove any earnings not on paper and I don't know how she would. This really isn't the place to get accurate advice though as it's all opinions.

Love / Polish wife is threatening me to pay child support 1000zl per month. [40]

It is a common thing in mixed nationality marriages for the wife to take or keep the kid in her country protected by her family and laws. This happens all over the world unfortunately. A good lawyer is your only legal option I am afraid.

Language / Using Polish declensions.. [14]

I hear it both ways all the time Mleko...your way is more common but putting bardzo first is hardly "wrong". In any case the book is a must have along with a good dictionary.

And you know they didn't try to ask for documents how? or that they didn't have them? They knew he was Polish and after learning he spoke no English they took him to the car where a translator spoke to him in the radio. Not a problem.

I give up with you...your typical "wear someone down until they are tired of your nonsense" tactic has worked. But it only means I am finished arguing...not that you are correct. Lest you think you somehow "won" something.

Plastic Pole why are you trying so hard to make excuses? Your "but maybes" have become routine. He did wrong. He was fined for it after they dealt with his childish behavior. You so desperatly want for it not to be his fault and it doesn't make sense. If he your uncle or something?

The no parking hard shoulder rule exists in a lot of places for a very good reason. You exhibit the typical Polish behavior of blaming everything and everyone but the person who did it. Should not have expected anything else.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Polish property owners have no sense. They ask high prices for rental and their flats sit empty for months. Do they lower the price? No. Nor will they negotiate often.

I have some friends who offered 2400 on a listing of 2550 and the owner said no. The flat has been empty for 3 months. I simply do not understand the Polish idea of "reasonable".

He loses more in one month than he would in the entire year taking 150pln less. And this behavior is very common.

Work / NOT POLISH and Looking for a JOB in Poland [11]

Teach Arabic lessons for cash. There are a lot of students in Lodz and I am sure you could find clients. You could also find them in Warsaw.
