This Polish truck driver has become a famous Youtube personality after appearing on 'BBC Traffic Cops': youtube.com/watch?v=QPESftk7s3o&feature=youtu.be

"The driver's convinced he's being picked on." No, surely not.

He was certainly acting and probably hoped they'd let him off because of the histrionics. I can't help noticing the contrast between the reasonable behaviour the police in that clip and the sort of thing the Polish police would do.

he wasn't really crying. Just expressing his frustration.

Absolutely right.

20 years as truck driver, Russia, Turkey no problem - only England problem. To be honest - if he stopped hist truck an a German highway he could get 300 EUR ticket - not just 30 Pounds.

I am sure he never stops at autobahn there, same as anather Turkish driver.

I was by the Belarus border today at the Bobrowniki crossing. The line of trucks from all over Europe, though mostly Poland, Belarus and Russia stretched for miles - there were certainly enough for a couple of days' waiting to be processed into Belarus. Very frustrating, 36c, and all were behaving. The police certainly wouldn't mess about if anything did happen.

He probably knew more English than he was letting on, hoping that if he played the 'dumb foreigner' for long enough he would be let off.

Nah,seriously,I saw this on the BBC the other night, the poor guy just lost it.
Yes,he did make a fool of himself and yes it was quite funny in an uncomfortable *should I really laugh at the "special person" * sort of way but I honestly just think he'd had a hard week, got flustered, saw the cameras and just had a melt down.

there is something about PF that makes laughing at the 'special' people perfectly excusable... don't think of it as a malicious, schadenfreude-ridden chuckle rather an expression of your genuine relief and joyous gratitude that you are not that 'special' yourself -- in short: your heartfelt humility gone vocal

This act probably worked in the past, so he's sticking to it.
What's interesting is the fact the people are passing this video around.
If he was a woman, nobody would be interested.

What would one expect from some dumb cops . Just take a look at their dumb facial expression .

This video with such brilliant commentaries ( the land of potato) they mumble can only be equal to other BBC botches .

What a masterpiece operation of the best cop`s crew capturing the most vicious truck driver of all times .

A sample of usual bashing of some Polish driver, driving a truck on Polish plates, they could not resist to leave it as they would do it if it was on English plates.

Maybe. If you are questioned at the roadside by the police, you don't expect a TV film crew to be there too.

His truck must be pretty well-equipped though for him to be peeling spuds for his dinner.

I think that's the internet in general.

If it had been on British plates the driver would have been f**ked over with far more than a 30 pound fine.....
If you think its OK to just stop in the breakdown/emergency lane of a highway just because you fancy a potato for dinner then that just reflects on how god awfull and dangerous Polish roads are.

So this guy was victimized because and only because he was Polish, right? Nothing to do with stopping an HGV on the hard shoulder. Thanks mona, now we know what a terrible deal Poles get from the anti-Polish British police. ffs

The driver didn't leave when told like all the other drivers except the Turk. The turk took his fine and left without a mess. The Pole whined and made a drama and acted like a child. Yep clearly anti Polish.

Monia,I would say the cops looked more dumbfounded than dumb at the reaction of the driver.I thought they were very professional about it.

It's really simple he wasn't suppose to park there and he got dealt with..

Utter rubbish !!

You pull over on the hardshoulder of the motorway, it's not long before you get some attention from the police regardless of the reg. no. of your vehicle.

It's people like you that cause trouble !!

perhaps you'd like to explain, Moania, what would happen to a lorry driver who parked upon the hard shoulder of one of the new Polish motorways, started cooking his dinner then got emotional when the police arrived?

Start waving a knife around in the presence of Polish police officers and there's a fair to middling chance you'll get shot.

Exactly. The guy should thank his lucky stars that it happened in the UK

Wave a chair leg in front of British firearms officers and the chances are you'll end up shot too.......
Or just casually walk onto the wrong tube train while looking suspiciously swarthy, bang bang bang bang bang bang bang ,all to the head.....

To be fair you're less likely to get shot while doing that and shouting in Polish than doing it and speaking with an Irish accent.

Or just casually walk onto the wrong tube train while looking suspiciously swarthy, bang bang bang bang bang bang bang ,all to the head.....

They actually managed to miss with one shot (despite it being point blank range).
