UK, Ireland / Modern day slavery in the UK [36]

I really wish you wouldn't repeatedly refer to someone from the street as a loser.

Maybe its a bit insensitive to those who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. I was talking about those that make their way there through alcohol, drugs etc. I stand corrected.

It does bother me that my actions might push people into crisis but.....

Maybe those that deserve the resources will be cared for. That would be a positive outcome.

This is a byproduct of the capitalist free market system....

This is a byproduct of plain nasty people. I'm not saying these individual cases are part of a wider scam that perpetuates from Poland, but there is a likelihood. Perhaps its escaped other posters attention that 'entrepreneurs' based in Poland have been rounding up the less fortunate, herding them over to the UK to scam the benefit system, and when the numbers up, leaving these unfortunates in the same position as previously posted. It follows a similar vain to what I am led to believe, is quite a popular tactic for defrauding the banks in Poland. A loser is picked up from the streets, the identity of some unwitting soul who has passed away is transferred to our loser, then sometime later, a large sum of money is borrowed and our loser gets the fallout if he's really unlucky. I'm sure it happens here to.

UK, Ireland / Polish Migration to the UK - A moderate speaks! [41]

There's English written and spoken everywhere.

Who you trying to kid LOL

Poland has no where near the debt

Give four or five years it will be back to the torn up newspaper.

i feel like a foreigner in my own countrys

Sadly thats the scenario in many a small town. Particularly those that have seen large inward investment to provide employment for the locals. Then came the rise of the employment agency. Then the reasonably paid jobs that paid a mortgage turned to minimum wage unreliable incomes that couldn't support a family. These places are now blighted. Property prices are stagnant or decreasing slowly. Repossessions are at high as there is no real chance of recovery in the foreseeable future. A tragedy for all. The locals feel like foreigners, the majority of the aliens have nothing to return too and no prospect of acheiving more than the minimum, and those that have bought property in the last 4 or five years, especially those enticed by 95% mortgages are trapped for ever more with no prospect of achieving greater than the first rung of the economic ladder and the prospect of waiting ten years for the home to make the price they paid for it if ever.

UK, Ireland / The Poles in Britain - a history by BBC Magazine [25]

What that some people are more successful than others?

Mostly because some put more effort in. The old adage, "You reap what you sow" is particularly relevant to all immigrants to any country. The bar is set pretty low. You can meander along on the bottom rung of the ladder with zero ambition or start the day with an "I can" attitude and when you find you can't, fix the problem that blocks the way. For most that means learning the native language of their destination.

His opinions are one of a brain dead drone, the kind of person that the current UK government absolutely loves.

I don't even see them as opinions, just basic facts that any person arriving should be prepared with. Come without and your chances of achieving are little more than winning the lottery. Do you not realise the tide has turned in the UK. Things have changed. The socialist experiment has failed.

What a rasict !!

Who? What? Where?

Grow up.

UK, Ireland / The Poles in Britain - a history by BBC Magazine [25]

Hes not a troll, he actually believes in what hes saying. Waaaay more dangerous.

Ever thought for a moment he may be speaking the truth. I've heard the same from several successful Poles I've met here in the UK. Coming to the UK with no English and sold on fantasy stories of wealth beyond your dreams on the day you arrive in the UK; you are a dead duck. Why? You're fellow Poles are waiting for you. They'll chew you up and spit you out. There no easier target than a fellow countryman when you can't speak English. 16 to a three bedroomed house. £300 pounds a month to sleep on the floor. Nice! Not so bad if your young though. Some amazingly bring their kids to this situation.

Effect of reading Daily Mail and daily express.......

I think you will find every newspaper except for the Guardian carries the same stories these days. The broads may be less sensationalist but the comments below are equally strong if not more articulate. Things are going to change. Not dramatically, but coming without a word of English will become more difficult.

You seem to have little or no respect for human life

Life isn't a bed of roses. He is just telling you how it is. Simply, the nasty people feed off the vulnerable and ill informed. It's a shame that their own kind are at the forefront. If you are learning Polish, you should learn an important part of their culture too. I'll help. Most are more than happy to accept favours but there is no such thing as reciprocation. You will have to pay. They are not embarrassed to ask either. That a cultural difference.

USA, Canada / Filing for divorce (US guy with a Polish lady) [5]

I think it depends where they are now. If in Poland, he should file it over there. The overall cost could be lower, and foreign divorce is accepted in the US.

Wrong answer. It will be quicker in the States and cheaper in the long run.

UK, Ireland / Prices of Clothes in Poland and England [35]

can recommend store called SportsDirect

Yes, it must be the second most frequented shop after Polski Sklep by the Polish community. In fact its possibly the Polish community that keep it in business.

I have seen the price of Lonsdale in Poland. Rip off.

UK, Ireland / Polish mum wants to take child back to Poland [10]

so it would be the lesser charge of wrongful retention and not abduction.

Its abduction no matter which way you want to dress it up.

they arnt married but his name is unfortunately on birth certificate

It does not matter if it is or isn't on the certificate.

she's not in a safe enough situation to stay and fight in the courts

If she is living in the UK then this is not an excuse. There are many support organisations to assist in "real" situations.

My advice to you is contact reunite.org as a matter of urgency and follow their advice to the letter. If you don't, then expect life to be hell for a minimum of three years.

Good luck. You will need it. By the way being involved in the abduction of a minor could land you with a minimum 2.5years in Poland. You are already assisting.

UK, Ireland / Polish mum wants to take child back to Poland [10]

Sw2:Can he make her come back with the child
Not a chance.

If she leaves without his consent then its parental abduction. The law will be on his side. I believe the law has changed in Poland and it is now possible to abduct your own child.

For the sake of £200 at the county court she should do it right in the first instance and then be able to sleep at night not worrying who is going to knock the door.

Law / Polish divorce - there is next to no help available from the law! [11]

Polish divorce is best avoided on all fronts. It doesn't benefit the child if there is one involved in the slightest.

My advice to anybody about to get divorced is start it in your own country, not Poland. Get in first or most likely suffer the consequences like the OP.

News / Poland's economic future? [294]

They joke is on the construction companies who underbid and bankrupted themselves when the Polish government demanded them stick to the contract.

You quite obviously didn't read the article properly.

I think taxpayers everywhere will admire Poland for it, even though its possible self defeating.

Yes countless unemployed Poles to pay for.

UK, Ireland / Can a Polish mother bring her child to England without the fathers consent? [22]

She would be a fool to do so. It's called Parental abduction and Poland isn't to friendly with Poles who abduct out of the country. Abducting in is a different matter.

Without doubt the English courts will return the child to Poland, not matter how strong her protestations or the child's (assuming the child is under 12).

It will be an incredibly expensive venture as this is high court stuff and she won't get legal aid.

Tell her not to be stupid and to make an agreement, that is witnessed by a legal professional or notary.

Don't do this and chances are it will end very very very badly for all concerned, especially the child.

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

You obviously have a hearing problem or you belong to the group who use it every second word; so you don't recognise when you hear it.

I've yet to meet a Pole, other than solicitors, who doesn't use it as an adjective frequently. Furious Pete has got it about right.

you are know around here to make things up as you go and spin things

In your opinion. I don't need to make it up. From the outside looking in; it's all very strange.

I don't find Polish people horrible

Hey I live with one so we agree. Some are truly horrible as are some English.

and walk around a city center wouldn't be a reason enough to come to such conclusion

But you could parody what you see with horse racing. Blinkers.

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

Ironside some people just do that anyway in Poland. Young kids are always a good gauge of reality and unafraid to speak their minds. On several occasions after a day out in Poznan, my partners Polish children have asked why Polish people are so horrible?

Real Estate / Prices of agricultural land in Poland [39]

the scam

It's hardly a scam really is it. Its just not ethical parasiting off people who are ill informed or have little life experience.

There must be a lot of people in negative equity situations.

UK, Ireland / Ketamine recommended to be upgraded to class B, will this have an impact on Poland? [12]

Ant63:This will have an an impact on Poland.

I didn't add that bit

prescription

The truth is you can buy it over the counter in Poland. It's in lots of pain relief medication. Prescription not required.

Dentists prescribe it in Poland after particular painful interventions.

They even give a kit to inject yourself when you have a bad back.

A little old but basically states ketamine is for medical procedures mainly in children

For children I think the side effects would be particularly undesirable. It brings on severe nightmares and halucinations. Not the purple haze of sixties acid although that had some pretty nasty side effects for some people.

UK, Ireland / Ketamine recommended to be upgraded to class B, will this have an impact on Poland? [12]

Under the new classification, illegal possession of ketamine could lead to a five-year jail sentence.

Ketamine is an anaesthetic used for operations on humans and animals that has become a popular recreational drug.

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25301908

Kettamine recommended to be upgraded to class B. This should keep the UK border force busy and be a problem for Poles in the UK.

Life / Lack of human rights in Poland? [132]

Something else that maybe should taken into account regarding the Polish Police is that one of the senior officers said that a lot of them (police officers) came from "Pathological Families". Having witnessed first hand an unprovoked assault by four officers in Stary Rynek Poznan, I am preprepared to side with szczecinianin to a certain extent but not fully. Personally I wouldn't trust a Polish policeman and as a general rule, few Polish people I speak too, have little faith in them either.

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

How much would things cost if haulage companies had to pay for the roads and their upkeep?

I believe they make a significant contribution through taxation in the UK at least. Its hard to see what the "Grand Plan" regarding road haulage was or is across the EU. The plan has certainly damaged the UK haulage industry when trying to compete with extremely low wages and lower fuel costs.

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

It's extremely annoying, I agree.

+1 It's tedious listening to this drivel.

georgie_96:
so my point is not all polish sit around using our system,

She is quite correct. What the poster fails to recognise is that due to the extremely low incomes EE's generally work for they are supported by other benefits which the UK government is more reluctant to reveal. Fortunately while the UK government were quite happy to say 14,000 the EU were more generous and said 600,000. Another misconception peddled in particular by the BBC is the financial benefit that immigration has brought. If the non A8 European countries are removed from the equation I believe the financial benefit is negative to the tune of £95bn.

Ironside if you want a real picture of what's going on extremely biased report from the BBC. The BBC are pro immigration. The comments below are more relevant than the article.

UK, Ireland / How to make my Polish friend's dad like me [25]

Exactly. You're English(I guess), it's for you to accept him if you are in your homeland. What on earth are you thinking by diminishing yourself in a such a way. You certainly don't need to learn Polish; quite the opposite.

UK, Ireland / Former minister admits UK messed up on immigration [78]

BS , that influx have been beneficial for many people

I really really want to know what the benefits are that people allude to. The big lie is that it benefited anybody but the unscrupulous.

working class and those unskilled have been put against the wall

Some just didn't want to join the race to the bottom.
