Love / POLISH GIRLFRIEND WONT PAY HER WAY [127]

I don't get it, why would you be in a marriage or serious relaitionship with someone if you think they are a financial leech. The 'polish women are the most beutifull' line sounds a bit superficial.

And seanus is the polki desc common in the pommy/scot circles or do you just use it> ?

Australia / Teaching my friend english, no experience [8]

Hi, I have a friend who can't speak english but can understand a very basic degree. To get his sponsor permanent visa he needs to improve , a lot. Ideally I'm looking for an online course with polish help and i can do face to face time once a week. I know there are different methods for teaching english but i am a bit lost. Any suggestions?

Genealogy / Born in Poland, moved to US as a baby - What do i need to get a PL passport? [19]

If you were born in Poland you have automatically been assigned a PESEL number, this number is key to getting anywhere with polish beucracy. But basically there are two ways of doing things, one is in poland where u have to run around to 3-4 different goverment departments, the other is overseas where u go to your polish embasy and they take care of it all but you have pay more. I have done both so can guide you through the torture that is the first choice if you want :). The end of the road of this process is the dowod osobiesty and you are a bonafide polish citizen when u have this card. Getting a passport is easy afther this. The old polish passport may have the PESEL number, in fact i'm pretty sure it does, the next step after your birth certificiate and your pesel number is your citizenship certificiate and then is the meldunek.,. and it goes on :)

hey wroclaw
Ive given him an english/polish workbook but basically he is working 6 days a week and looking after a kid, and im kinda busy too so was hoping for a work book or a website recomendation that he can go through and i can meet up with him once a week and go over what he has done and add to his learning. basically if he can't motiviate himself for the other 6 days a week then theres no point imho? but yeah point taken about the everday skype chats could be good.

Olaf, thats not how i remember it ! You can't get your citizenship certificaite without your pesel and birth certificiate and overseas passport, you cant get a passport in poland without a dowód osobisty (not applicable overseas) , you can't get a dowód osobisty without your pesel, citizenship certificiate, birth certificiate and the all important meldunek (place of residence) document

Can I get a dowod osobiesty without explicitly stating my address

I did it but would not recomend it , basically i went to the local gmina where i was born and got the dowod there as that was my last meldunek. So the back of my dowod was blank for the address field, the polish police didin;t like that :)

News / Europeén Union will finance the 2nd Warsaw metro line. Good news. [60]

a WASTE of money as its a repklication of existing rail lines and fast urban rail (skm) that are under utilised in the city. The fact that the two metro lines are not joined and one will have to walk 500 metres to change lines just goes to show what a incompetent and scam project this is.

200 metres? That's nothing, and anyway, the station is actually being built underneath the new terminal.

No it will not, the underground link terminates 200m from the terminal, the passengers will then climb the stairs or catch the lift and will a walk along a walkway to the terminal. Hopefully it will be protected from the elements.

@pwei
sure sounds like fun, have u checked out that new album we talked about>?:

this is how the entrance of the new line 2 stations will look like

This is how the stations will look inside, very bright and like a kids playground! :)
And this is video of the construction sight at the warsaw stadium, notice how close the existing rail line passes to the future metro station!

Its a pity they are not building the whole thing at once.

iilinian_d.gif - line 2 proposed

The link to the statium will be built by 2014, then there will be years of delays to start construction on the sections that are actually needed.
