USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Funny Aphro, I've been reading your posts here for the best part of a month and i've got to laugh at the similarity of our experiences...

I moved to Europe eight years ago and returned back home here to Oz on 23rd September as well...

I've been doing some adjusting but sh1t, it seems having to dig your way to your car would just add difficulty to a big move...

I prey that you get through this winter and enjoy a lovely spring cause I think you're going to find it a lot easier once you have a nice warm period to immerse yourself in. I can see you're resilient and have a sense of humour and know you'll get through these difficult changes...

Just imagine all the nice places in Europe you will visit in a few months. :)

Happy New Year.

History / Watch Poland grow and shrink (interactive map) [52]

That interactive map requires a lot of detailed study. It's hard to know which city faired the best.

I wonder how it will change in the future? Probably just from within but who knows?

UK, Ireland / I'm going to a Polish New Years Eve Party in England, help?! [12]

You'll be right. They're not going to ignore the only foreigner there... They'll speak to you in English or you could strike up a conversation too?

It's New Years Eve, just get drunk and have fun! Either way you'll know a lot more Polish by tomorrow morning...

Happy New Year. :)

News / Roma flee home after threats in Silesia [28]

all Roma should go to Rome.

Where's that? I think they built a parking lot over it???

and please. Its not about racism. Simple, there is less and less resources in this Europe.

As long as you promise not to use anyone else's resources...

UK, Ireland / I worry about the Poles working in the UK [77]

There is something in the determined man's mind that will never let them believe that anyone owes them anything, they will always stay flexible and adept to achieve their security... Though eventually a generation or two of prosperity may change that.

In any case, If unemployment is still higher in Poland and wages lower they will continue to be better off abroad and they will know that. Those who found it difficult will probably have already left...

UK, Ireland / I worry about the Poles working in the UK [77]

In truth, I don't think the Polish have much to worry about. As has already been said, Poles are a resilient bunch and probably better equipped to ride this out than most of their British counterparts.

Probably because they haven't invested as much capital in their lives in Britain... and, well, they can always go home.

News / POLISH CHILD ABUSING A CAT.. [74]

I think part of it is because the body chemicals released during this activity makes the meat more digestable

What, urine...?

News / Polish twins have different fathers [67]

Ok, this statement is going to ooze charm and class, here goes...

All women want is a man to f*ck them all the time. All men want is to f*ck women all the time... Unfortunately men want to f*ck different women all the time while women have fooled themselves into thinking that this is not the case for them... Men contribute to this by thinking of women as their own private property. But try to own a man and he walks out the door...

Situation is folks that a women is the moon while a man is the sun...

What's love got to do with it...?

It all went downhill after the Neolithic period.

Goodnight. :)

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

I think those tensions and feelings are overplayed, or used by others sometimes

Well it's true that at least they have a history together... :S

Well, maybe not ......however there is always a possibility however slim

Do you plan on being the foreign diplomat?

Interest of both country's would be on stake, problem is ; can Russia understand that and act accordingly

The interest of Poland is peace and prosperity (finally.)
Can stronger ties with Russia offer that? Not necessarily. They may be able to help broker more favourable trade deals with the Chinese but it may also get them more involved in the whole North Korea debacle at some point in the future which wouldn't be wise... especially as Russia is not aligned with the EU where foreign policy is concerned.

Russia are simply too hot to handle...

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

Internal freedom :)

That would be schizophrenic... Poland would NEVER look to Russia for a sense of freedom... it just doesn't make sense. Them wounds are still too fresh and Poland is commanding quite a place in the EU for the time being.

Maybe but then again if Russia change approach ? Would that be possible ?

Um, anything is possible, but in this case it's highly improbable. Russia spits on mighty superpowers let alone previous soviet satellites...

In our lifetimes this will never happen... and a history of failure and ruin has created a bitter tension at best between these two countries.

Work / Student considering a move to Poland; prospects of employment? [5]

Alls I can say is hold your head up and march into your new life whatever it is you want to do. Hey, you're young, resilient, adept, and determined.

Poles are sceptical, but if you can project optimism, it may work in your favour, but society in Poland is different generally and there are a lot of educated, clever people there looking for a better day. However the economy is still in gestation so if you have something bright to offer, go out there like a light and be a beacon to other young people who want to contribute something positive.

Really, the future is yours... you own it. Go out on a limb and Good luck!

Love / I treat my Polish colleague like I would treat my older sister, Confused [9]

No worries dude... maybe I'm the sisterly type...?

I live in Sydney too, so it's not such a stretch of the imagination to say that I might know where you're coming from...?

But I do understand the Polish mentality quite well too, so, I think I have a good idea where you're coming from culturally... But hey, she's here to learn about us and what we do, so don't be afraid to show her a thing or too aswell.

Best of luck Bro. :))

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

They could gain secure control of the eastern Europe. Question - are they able to go against 300 years of diplomatic tradition ?

Ok, so what would Poland gain from it...? It would be a relationship based on fear and ransom as no doubt it would make Poland more dependent on Russia's resources... the ultimate foundation for any diplomatic engagement. Diplomacy is only the staple of interdependent relationships.

What do you guys think about France selling two warships to Russia?

Two more reasons not to f*ck with Russia?

Love / I treat my Polish colleague like I would treat my older sister, Confused [9]

She may need you as much as you need her. In as much as she is strong and needs to exert that guardianship over another.

Does she have younger siblings? Or is she on her own in your country? She may be in a position where she has to focus strongly on what's going on in her own life and is therefore in a position to be a strong directional force in others lives...

Just ask her. She's six years older but you have been brought together for whatever reason...

I also made great friends with a guy 6 years younger than me when I was abroad, and found that he became very much like a younger brother - I wanted to protect him and be there for him to talk to and he was great fun to be around. We are still like siblings even though I have moved away, but that bond will never be broken because it's based on profound trust.

I guess what I'm saying is don't question genuine feelings too much.

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

I would need examples of Russia behaving diplomatically to believe that can work...

They still believe they are the Titans... and I believe that would be the nature of any relationship with a smaller economic might like Poland. What would Russia gain from such genuinely diplomatic ties?

Polonia / MOVING MY STUFF TO MOSCOW and a Harley motorcycle ...any ideas? [58]

I asked her on how she feels ... and she replied about how she will give her best, and how she trusts me. I know my part of the responsibility too, and she ofcourse my highest priority now. But she is there to give it her best effort and knows how much I love my own place. She is adjusting very well, and my family already loves her and are great friends with her

It sounds as though you have communication which is good, and are considerate to her - appreciating that every day for her is still new. You're not arrogant, and you find new ways to treasure your wife constantly (because you are a grateful man) so I can see a very long and happy union. Well done! (Respect) :)
