Life / Poland heating system, when is it cheaper to switch on during the day and night? [6]

rent a furnished apartment

or find a part time job leaflet distributor :)

Some of the saving masters I know, achieve amazing results using
combination of gas/coal stove and solar collector (for domestic water heating).

Hard to believe that the Sun can heat the oil up to 90 st C in Olsztyn's latitude.

Language / seen / saw usage [18]

my polish is gettinmg better

My advice. Don't bother yourself and omit pan, pani, ja, ty. It will be forgiven for a foreigner.

Just remember endings
widziałeś film, widziałem - boy
widziałaś film, widziałam - girl

czytałeś, oglądałeś, jechałeś, piłeś, jadłeś, spałeś, pisałeś, biegłeś, kupowałeś etc

Law / No polish bank account, how to pay internet bill [16]

I just learned something new.

be aware that
1. Not every post office has enough of chip credit card terminals yet.
2. Your payment with some credit cards in post office may be treat as a cash withdrawal
not electronic payment. So if yor internet bill is eg 42zł , commission = 20zł ~50% :/

UK, Ireland / Car registered in Poland. Ownership transfer from England? [8]

It`s registered on friends name but I need to transfer it on another`s friends name (both Polish).

Transfer like what? as sale? Buyer should pay Polish tax.

or I can do it from abroad by sending copy of documents?

I don't think so. They may want to change car's plates and see the tax payment and insurance receipt. Obtain new papers take one month. If you have bad luck they may refer the car to pass MOT.

Language / Are the context of these Polish sentences correct? [101]

Can't you learn some phrases by heart? Copy out books or newspapers?

I'm not sure that whenever I will understand English grammar ;)
but I think we learners, should focus on the easiest way to make progress quickly.

UK, Ireland / Car registered in Poland. Ownership transfer from England? [8]

You can send buyer with plates and papers to Poland for one month. If seller address and buyer address belong to the same district and car have new, white plates you can avoid changing plates. If MOT deadline is distant you can avoid take car to Poland to pass MOT.

but you do it at your own risk ;)

Classifieds / Warsaw Speed Dating Event [34]

Prices are 45 PLN for the girls and 85 PLN for the boys.

Widely known that boys can drink a lot of beer and eat twice than girls. Let's punish them ;)

Work / Moving to Poland (from the UK) to take a teaching position. Tips? [34]

or anything at all may have forgotten about?

Take you favourite pills with you. Even we have zillion pharmacies per km^2
we don't have drugs such as in the UK. I know it because I was searching through
pharmacies in Devon once and they have only the others ;)

Life / Can you buy de-icer in Poland? [11]

I have noticed that most of my Polish friends don't have a clue what it is!

We just use plastic foil, cloth or towel to cover up the windscreen.
eg Me. I start my work at 7oo so I have to leave home at 6:50. There is no time for spraying :)

News / Eighteen people die in road accident in Poland [10]

so why do they drive like idiots on the road...?

We have fifty years to make up for, chasing West so everyone is hurry up :/
Newer and faster car is tempting. I'm not a Saint (although Peter) but trying hard. Believe me. I hope we will find a Harley peace of mind earlier than RIP.

USA, Canada / Do Polish guys like American girls? [103]

They are manipulators, they say they love you and all this other crap.

Not all guys are like that and want to leave our lovely European Union :)

Love / Black British Jamaican woman loves Polish friend but how do I tell him? [16]

but how do I tell him?

You can say no to chodz tu tygrysie :)

Ask him if he really want to live in the UK for good or consider another country to develop your love. There are no jobs in Poland and we aren't patient with non speaking Polish people as the English are.

UK, Ireland / Long-term impact of returning UK Poles to Poland [21]

None, as in "we only went there for the money"? Or will the UK experience affect Poland?

I think nothing will change rapidly. It was good lesson for us. We still want driving fast without speed cameras on our back and feel safe on the street without looking around for a bottle, knife or screwdriver. We will appreciate more what we have here in Poland.

Life / What do Poles want, what drives them...? [58]

Is it their peity

I wasn't in church for about 20 years I think and no one from my family go to the church regularly. We don't have time for that. Many of us (Poles) working on Saturdays and we want stay at home on Sunday. I wonder why there is a common belief that we are especially piety. Maybe this is Polonia thing?

money

Bingo :) We need money (savings) because we feel financially insecure and have very long list things to buy. When we reach some level of affluence we will think what next :)
