History / What proportion of the Polish population collaborated with the Nazis? [125]

extreme embarrassment to all Jews everywhere, is the existance of the so-called "Judenrat"

why so? they just wanted to pull out the best for their people. i consider that as a smart move or are jews in general more comfortable with the 100% victim role?

if thats true what you claim that i really doubt their smartness, but honestly there might be some calculation behind, again.....

History / Was the holocaust by Germans in Poland the worse genocide in history? [210]

from the link above....shocking, right, but taken for granted. now its time to accuse others...

10,000,000[39][page needed] 40,000,000[40][page needed] European colonization of the Americas The Americas 1492 1900 The European conquest of the Americas led to the deaths caused by disease, violence, and displacement of Native American populations during European settlement of North and South America as constituting an act of genocide (or series of genocides). The genocidal aspects of this event are entwined with loss of life caused by the lack of immunity of Native Americans to diseases carried by European settlers and their livestock (see Population history of American indigenous peoples).[41][42]

History / What proportion of the Polish population collaborated with the Nazis? [125]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Police

The Blue Police had little autonomy, and all of its high ranking officers came from the ranks of the German police (Kriminalpolizei).

The role of the Blue Police in its collaboration and resistance towards the Germans is difficult to assess as a whole, and is often a matter of dispute.[11]

those 2 quotes are taken from the link. obviously sth pl hasnt gotten over with or is on the way.

to me quite frankly strange that it comes up here. during the nazi time almost all countries being occupied had collaborators, not only the axis powers were in charge of the greueltaten. so, ?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Americans_in_the_United_States
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_the_Indian,_Save_the_Man this link has a very strange propaganda poster. just take a look.

interesting to me that the wealth of one continent is based on the genocide of another volk. seems that everyone has forgotten...

Travel / Whats your favourite Polish city and why? [132]

IMO from a PL - UK perspective:

Warsaw = London obviously
Lodz = Birmingham
Manchester = Krakow
Brighton = Gdansk
Wroclaw = Sheffield
Poznan = Bristol
Bialystok = Newcastle
Gydnia = Bournemouth
Sopot = Weymouth

intersting approach, but 'comparing' isnt really the thing. ;)

i liked it best when staying longer periods in pl(and there were quite a lot) in breslau ;), maybe because of the 'germanisation' still visible there. i also like lodz a lot. warzsawa was for me always just a meet and travel place, though i visited almost all of the historical spots, esp. in old town, what the nazis left of it.

What proportion of the Polish population collaborated with the Nazis?

i really have no data which can proove that in anyway and if there are i am too lazy to dig them up.

by logic and nazi procedure, in all countries they occupied were people collaborating with them. those who did i willingly, thinking this brown bunch is the nwo ;) and those who were forced to do it, just to survive...

now, for me the 1st group is much more interesting, because they tend to change the course at soon as the allies came in. thats the deal. no moral and usually those were getting in the social ladder quite high.

the quantity is not so important, just from the humanistic perspective its shocking but reality. humans are weak. they fall eventually for all kinds of bs.

Love / Do polish men like career women? [60]

Sorry, it is a breach of logic. Having had overbearing mommies, men can`t like submissive women.

jaja, and tomorrow is christmas ;)

A Polish man (or any man for that matter) probably doesn't mind it, when a career woman spends $ on him.

exactly.

History / What proportion of the Polish population collaborated with the Nazis? [125]

Hitler lost 'cause he was foolishly fighting a two-front war!!

thats correct.

Eine Nebenschau die aber leider ins Rampenlicht der Nazipolitik zum HAUPTschauplatz gestellt wurde!

bravo for the german. google translate??? ;)

It might have been intended merely as a sideshow in the beginning, it sure didn't end up that way though!

i am telling you that from the pure technical aspect it was not important. for the propaganda for the use of the nazis and of course later after the war it was THE topic. even more than the millions and abermillions who lost their lives.

the propaganda took over someone else...

You're basically correct here too. Yet, it was Hitler Judophobia which ended up LOSING him the war, becuase he lost sight of other objectives, often forgotten, as he was blinded by this Jew hatred.

hitler lost the war because of many other factors rather than the jews. they were, looking at the whole picture, 'just' a nebenschauplatz

Germans must learn to do the same.....let go of some old daggers

i dont know if you had the chance to read the speach of helmut schmidt during the spd meeting last week. he had some intersting point for the 'new and modern german leaders'...

imo since the end of ww2 he is/was the only reasonable kanzler in germany, of course also his mandate wasnt without flaws...

UK, Ireland / Why are Polish people, especially women, so disrespectful toward the English? [437]

all i can say is that this header of the thread in itself is already implying prejudices, anger, rage, misunderstanding, arrogance...not leading anywhere. didnt look who the author is but my guess is uk. am i right?

that is ethnical offense in a way and shouldnt be put up as a thread, especially when the goal is to 'understand each other'....or is sth else the point? ;)

Life / Question Of Religious Beliefs That Could Differ in Poland [33]

Quite. Whatever it is, the lady was arrested but the prosecutors decided they couldn't make a case.

so 'we'/they are still at square one. sorry, id1ots.

strange that human history is full of misunderstanding and suspicion for the 'abnormal' though normal is by far not only a spot on the behaviour line...

maybe, maybe not but imo it seems a good alternative for those nations which are not heard at all in eu and which are constantly treated even now as 2nd class members, because they are from the east...

News / MORE ANTI-POLISH SENTIMENT IN GERMANY [280]

Furthermore, necessity for totalitarian regimes always pushed German society to the extremism and generated hate on Slavs

is it possible that you too much watch history channel? ;) and think that todays germany is just a copy of the period 1933-45???

a)why should germans need a totalitarian regime?

b)everyone, including slavs, are german targets. germans love/like only themselves.

c)everyone who is not-german is threatening german society.

d)germans dont hate others. they or the admin want to dominate them.

this is based on your thoughts.
again you generalize very nicely. any chance to differentiate a little? crow, slowly i am getting angry because of this what you write here.

there are things in the german mentality/society which are good and which are bad. furthermore the society has more to offer than this hardcore aggression what you draw here. take that into consideration.

poles and germans? i would guess that like in so many other cases the relations on the personal level are much better than on admin.

News / MORE ANTI-POLISH SENTIMENT IN GERMANY [280]

wroclaw, seanus, southern

really i have no clue how and to whom to answer first. i ll try to cover as much as possible and not to be off topic. ok?

germans in general like only themselves. thats a fact and thats the way they mostly come along. the thing is the more in the youth or education you had contact with foreigners they are no problem at all. its simply the fact where you are in society and if you feel endangered by them.

southern, yes, they mostly life in ghettos. the biggest ones are now in berlin. there you hve turkish, russian, polish and asian quarters. that came with the last einsiedlung from mr. kanzler kohl... ;)

all in total the integration was/is a sensible topic. my generation didnt have any problems with the gastarbeiter who came to ger all over europe. when the waves from former block countries started to 'flod' germany, many older people and cons of course saw themselves in danger. i know thats stupid, but they still had that ww2 experience in mind.

nowadays the problem for the admin to turn the time back wards, meaning to make some kind of selection for immigrants like it is usual in us, nzl and aus. that is not possible. that is also the reason why the changes in law come across that drastic.

all in total i can only say for myself, that i had in elem school guys from spain, italy, yu and turkey and we came along great. i never had tha issue with foreigners, but as i said, education and society where you move are important for that imo.

wroclaw, i hope this comment will not go in the box. my fingers hurt from that much typing. have mercy ;)

Off-Topic / What languages do you know? [51]

What the f*** are you talking about?

just answered the way your question/comment came across. thats it.

a lot of people on here think you're a Serb

on what basis? just curious.

I can't understand why they do - but I was starting to think you are too

i am german. pls tell me on what basis/reasons you started to believe that?
btw, tnx for the compliment to be a serb.

As long as you don't start abusing Poles

i like poles a lot. after uni my 1st job brought me numerous times to pl with longer stays due to the job as project eng. there i picked up my polish. ;)

I couldn't care less whether you were Serbian, German, Armenian, Azerbaijani or Korean

exactly.

So why does everyone think you're Serbian lol

you think someone is ashamed to be a serb? if i would be a serb and i am proslavic why would i hide that? here on pf with 'my slavic brothers' around? why would i do that.

thats not logical.

btw, nationality is not a title. you cannot choose that. your paranoic brain and that of the others who you call 'everyone' in this matter are too boring. really.

News / MORE ANTI-POLISH SENTIMENT IN GERMANY [280]

Now, with new totalitarian regime in Berlin/Bon they are proud Germans again. Proud and crazy, full of hate on Slavs.

i think that is too much of a generalization. like in every society you have those andersdenkende which are probably more critical about the course of the german admin. their voices have to be considered, too.

there is still the balance in europe, due the support of the uk by the big brother usa and france being somewhat in the middle. they would not allow some alleingang of germany.
