News / 30 to 40 thousand abortions by Polish girls in foreign countries [142]

What is moral and what is legal are two different things. We get our morals from religion we don't get our morals from the courts or through legislation. If you think abortion is immoral, don't get an abortion. As for everyone else if they think they need an abortion they should have access to medical facilities. If they don't, the abortion goes underground or they have to go to another country. Poland is a very irresponsible country.

Good article, required reading for Zetigrek, Seanus, all you right wing wackos: guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_IAW.html

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2874]

Poles aren't ready... they would kill each other, more or less randomly, and the Polish population would shrink even more then it already did....

How come Polish people in the States are able to handle guns?

The suicides are a big part of the problem with guns, too. I read somewhere that great majority of people that kill themselves with a gun would not commit suicide if they didn't have access to it. I was surprised to learn that, but it does make some sense.

Price of freedom. Guns are the great equalizer. It keeps the higher ups from getting too uppity.

the price of freedom

A good example of such a country is Switzerland, where every household has a real, honest-to-God full- auto-assault rifle and ammo on hand.

My opinion is that Poland should resurrect the AK and operate it like the Swiss operate their Army reserves. You would think with Poland's history they would have already done something like this. But Poles would rather depend on political alliances. Just like 1939 and than spend 50 years wondering why they were overrun.

News / Palikot's "Modern Poland" and the Tea Party - how do they compare? Should be banned? [21]

The desire to cut down on the national debt is not a fad, the opposition to the big bank bailouts is not a fad, opposition to Fannie and Freddie is not a fad, opposing ill-conceived medical care legislation is not a fad, opposition to government takeover of GM with the rule of law skirted by screwing the bondholders is not a fad and opposition to combating the largest levered debt crisis in history by issuing more debt is not a fad.

yes, cut down the national debt by going after the middle class entitlements but ignore the costs of the two wars in afghan and iraq.

Work / I'M SO SURPRISED BY THIS SALARY FOR IBM in WROCLAW 3000 ZL gross [135]

You talk like you'd be suggesting that Poles likes their low wages...

What I am saying is that low wages is not in the public interest.

Actually Zitigrek owning your own business is the only way to go no matter where you live.

I don't think it's any secret that the backbone of the country is in the black economy.

If people have to depend on the Black Economy they aren't getting paid enough.

Work / I'M SO SURPRISED BY THIS SALARY FOR IBM in WROCLAW 3000 ZL gross [135]

you're spoiled, guys...

An American Ex-pat was in Mexico shopping when a local came up to her and said what are you looking for? She said I'm looking for a dishwasher. He said, why don't you hire a dishwasher?

If people are willing to work cheap enough to wash dishes than there isn't any reason to design and manufacture dishwashers is there? So PGTX is it better for people to build and design dishwashers or wash dishes???

Answer: they ain't spoiled! In the long run low wages kill productivity.

News / U.S. role in Poland is shrinking [82]

Poland can be self sufficient but it isn't. Poland should do now what it should have done in the 1920's and work on becoming more self sufficient.

U.S Role in [Country Name] is Shrinking.

Yeah, that just about says it all for me.

Richasis, success comes from failure.

News / Poles are getting rich... [63]

According to the Credit Suisse report, the richest people on the planet are the Swiss, Norwegians, Australians, Singaporians and the French. The average Swiss citizen has an estate worth 372,000 US dollars.

Swiss...it pays to stay out of wars.

Life / Foreign crap OK, Pułaski not! [14]

That xenophilic trait is among the reasons Poles have not really developed their own, indigenous style in many areas. It it largely a copy-cat society.

Probably because Poles have been politically dominated by Foreign Nationals for the past two or three hundred years. Politically a divided people, no? It sure appears that way reading this forum

Actually Americans have a higher opinion of Polaks than the Poles do. Pulaski and Kosciusko have all kinds of towns and counties and roads named after them. All from their contribution two hundred years ago. Polish people probably don't know who they were.

USA, Canada / Can a Canadian Female Drive in Poland?? [31]

not every country requires you to have one and as far as i can see, England seems to be one of them.

$15? Looks like an IDP for me. If it's hassle free. If not I'll take my chances.

Bzibzioh:
They had a habit of sleeping naked with their bedroom door open

English like to shock. Especially people who they perceive to be overly sensitive.

Wash the grime of the day off..rather than sleep in..Always been an evening and morning showerer...But I will concede an old house mate of mine used to the morning thing until I called her a skank for doing so..

Now wait, if your mate showers in the morning and you shower in the evening...perfection!

USA, Canada / Can a Canadian Female Drive in Poland?? [31]

Gee, I rent a car in England all the time and all they ask for is my license which is American of course. It's different for Poland? I wonder, if I'm only going to be there for a week or so which I intend to do probably next summer and rent a car.

Buy the Zloty. Preferably Polish Government Bonds or Treasury Notes. This way you get the appreciation and the interest.

Genealogy / Where in Poland is the town of Laka? [20]

Because I don't have a marriage date they won't give me any information., which is so stupid since that is what I am trying to get. If the first daughter was born 12-1-1907 I'm pretty sure that at least 9 - 10 months before that they were most likely married

Don't be surprised if you find out that your ancestors may have gone to the altar pregnant. So I wouldn't stick to the 9-10 month timeline. It's a myth that the people back than were anymore moral than they are today.

Life / Can you buy de-icer in Poland? [11]

What's cheaper rubbing alcohol or cheap vodka? Either way put about a pint or two in your windshield washer fluid along with water and that'll do the trick.

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

Eurola, everybody can't be a Type A personality professional women. The pimps target the ladies that aren't too bright. Doesn't mean that the Polish Government can't devote some resources rescuing these girls from their circumstances. It's terrible that they allow this to go on, labor and sex trafficking.

News / Does it seem to you that Russia loves Poland now? [35]

At least Poland doesn't kill for its resources, eh?

What does this comment have to do with the price of tea in China???

Hello. The subject is Poland vis-a-vis the Russians.

Err.. it is totally the other way round. Russian gov. is nicer because Poles are buying a lot of their gas...

The Russians weren't nicer to the Ukulele's a couple winters ago. Russki = Overbearing and Heavy handed.

Does it seem to you that Russia loves Poland now

With your common history? No, of course not. Poland needs to wake up. There are too many conflicting interests with Russia for the Poles to be buying their natural gas. Poland needs to generate its own energy resources (coal, ag, wind, etc.) pronto. In the mean time quit playing footsie with the Russkies and buy your gas from Norway, even it's twice as expensive. You have no conflicting interests with Norway. They are not a threat. Buy their gas. Stay away from Russia.
