Life / Mixed race girl in Poland, good idea? [149]

ut calling someone a nig*ger (or czarnuch) just because she/he is black, is simply wrong.

Finally a Pole who has sense about this. Thank you.

Anyone who could imagine we should have guilt because of what people did 200 or more years ago has lost all credibility.

Way to contribute to the problem. I am sure there are plenty of American citizens in your own area that need help. Thanks for going out of the way for a foreigner who has already shown disrespect to out country and intent to cheat the system for his own good.

So send me your check too then. I could use the extra cash. Or are you only willing to help out illegal Poles and not fellow Americans?

Maybe you don't realize part of the reason we DO pay such high taxes is because of illegals and the medical and administrative costs involved. America was built by immigrants...but you have to follow the rules.

:| Amazing.

I lived in Poland for a long time...other places too. I am pretty sure I know what "standards" are universal and which are local.

I have no guilt about things people did in the past even if they were my relatives. Nice try though. I am only responsible for my actions not others.

Laugh all you want. People get busted all the time for such things. I have read several articles about people's words in internet forums being used in legal proceedings.

You have people here conspiring to subvert immigration and labor laws in the United States. It's not very smart of them.

The OP made quite clear his intent to avoid certain laws. You people would be crapping all over yourselves if this was someone trying to subvert laws in your nation.

No worries. I have saved this thread in case it is needed in the future for any investigation. I would think common sense would prevent people from discussing illegal activities in a public forum but I see not.

I would think discussion of illegal activities would be something the site staff would want to control to prevent any liability. I hope you get caught and booted out of the USA. Just as any Poles would want illegals or those not following the laws booted out of their nation.

Hopefully nobody will hire you and you will have to leave. But I see f-stop is your contact in the "Polish Underground" in the US. They help each other navigate cheating the system.

Life / COMBATING "POLACK" JOKES [460]

people like mediawatch are the ones giving Polish people a negative sterotype

Ironically he isn't even Polish. He is an American with a Polish last name and some Poles a few generations back in his family. Expats and people with Polish names seem to create more of the bad reputation than anyone. The real Poles have to suffer the consequences of this as well so I am sure they don't appreciate it.

He also keps quoting media appearances from 30-40 years ago. It's 2010 buddy. Johnny Carson has been dead for a while. Get over it.

Life / Polish "Mall Girl" Culture? [125]

I didn't understand the bit in the article where it said they follow men into shops then seduce them by trying clothes on. I don't see men going into those shops with women's clothes unless they are with their gf or wife usually.

I recall a few slutty looking girls giving me the old coy smile in the malls but chose to pretend it was my dashing good looks ;) Thinking back they often had the thigh high boots so it must be one of the "signs". These girls were all looking older however...never saw any 14-15yos dressed like that. Surprised the Police don't crack down on that since it involves kids.

I see 4 pages later enkidu still has an argument going on what "racism" is. It is a worldwide standard...just like many other things. You may choose to disagree with it and ignore it but it remains the standard.

What will be interesting is IF people stop telling Polish jokes whether Polish TV will stop using comedy material with stereotypes of other nations ethnicity (Russian gangsters, stupid Americans, Blacks etc).

Of course they won't. Hypocrisy is rampant there.

He says, 'Yes theyre working, wait wait, no theyre not working, now theyre working, now theyre not working.

Hahaha...that's great!

Australia / Looking for Polish immigration lawyer in Sydney [16]

For posterity...you just undid any credibility you may have had here. Well done :))

I don't want to hear another word from any of you bints about people being anti-polish. You can't have it both ways.

Besides you have made it clear you have never even lived in Poland...so you actually have no idea what you are talking about on most issues presented here. Yet you go on and on and on. Funny that.

Noticed you didn't comment about f-stop doing that in the USA. Funny how that works when it is a Pole doing it nobody here is upset. But dare anyone use Poland...no no that just won't do.

USA, Canada / Dual citizenship - US doesn't care if you don't give up Polish passport [103]

I am amazed at the amount of Polish in the USA...especially considering how much you like to tell us it is substandard for you. Ungrateful twits. Now he is all bent out of shape about pledging allegiance as part of the immigration process. Well guess what skippy...you want to be an American then follow our rules. If not p!ss off.

It's not unreasonable at all and all nations do it. Why shouldn't you have to swear loyalty to a nation when taking it's citizenship? It's not a club card....it comes with very serious civic and social responsibilities. But you aren't interested in all that...you just want to use what you can. You admitted right off it was about losing future financial benefits from the US government.

I was wondering about the bathrooms as well. In the bigger malls there are always people around so you couldn't really sneak in...and in the smaller ones they often have the women taking money as you mentioned.

You are either being purposefully obtuse or you are dense. Do you really think it is the actual color of the skin that people are making a scene over? It is the idea, stereotype, rumors, culture etc that goes along with it.

Being rude, offensive and aggressive is not the same as being racist. Being nice and kind doesn't equal of being tolerant and open-minded. I am sorry, I have to repeat this. Few post ago I described precisely my understanding of phenomena of "racism".

Convex said exactly what I wanted to. Seems you don't get this part.

You keep stating that it is not racism in many cases because the offender means no offense. I think everyone knows what is offensive and what not. Pretending innocence is weak.

Life / Polish "Mall Girl" Culture? [125]

I remember seeing younger girls dressed pretty trashy at the malls and having a quick "future prostitute" thought but it is sad to think it might have been true. There were 3 or 4 regulars in the Central Station underground in Warsaw late at night...always a bit depressing to see.

I think someone hiring a 14yo for sex needs to be jailed for a long time.

Work / Learning Polish in Olsztyn... crazy prices for private lessons. [27]

My Polish colleague notes when all the Brits/Americans in the school try to mówić po polsku, our voices go up an octave.

I think that is an unconscious effort to mimic them. We always used to joke how Polish men sounded girlish to us because the end of every sentence went up high pitched.

I also could never get people to understand that laughing at someone and saying how "cute" they were when speaking Polish was not a good way to motivate them. I always tried to encourage people in English and never made fun of them because that is a sure way to put someone off trying.

Haha...reminds me of the Polish classes I took. I know people have different learning styles but I never met anyone who learned to actually USE language with that kind of instruction. Speaking like a 5yo is more useful than knowing all the technical aspects but not being able to communicate.

That simply because as a Polish I see no shame in the fact that somebody is black

But you can't project your view in this case onto the entire culture..it is YOUR view and the view of others in Poland for sure but many others do not think that way. Anytime someone says the culture overall is a bit racist people run in and say "no it's not..I don't think that way". As an outsider who observed it for a long time the CULTURE is racist. But rather than accepting reality they start defending the great pride of Poland.

They can't accept that being able to communicate with mistakes is better than knowing the mechanics but not being able to drive.

Exactly. I find many Poles operate that way in English even. They can tell you all the rules better than a native but they can't use them. I also think it is why so many adults struggle with language learning. The education and resources out there are so technical and not natural. Pimsleur works well for me but sadly they don't go very far even with the 3 month programs...in Polish they only have a one month program and by the time I got it I had already surpassed it by learning from friends.

I have known several people with university majors in a "foreign" language who couldn't speak it functionally.

Most people I know who tried to learn Polish from a course in Poland quit because it was so pedantic. The expats I know who learned it learned mostly from spouses, their family, friends etc. Then if they needed advanced language for some reason they went to a course. Just explaining it to you from an expats point of view.

Great, white, non-Poles voicing opinions on Polish racism. Some with an obvious grudge, dished out daily, towards anything Polish

A white non pole who lived in Poland for over a decade and understands things there in my case. You do not get to dismiss my comments as a "grudge". They are observations which you do not like. That doesn't make them wrong nor will I allow you to belittle them trying to paint me as someone who has a mission to give Poland a bad name. That is a tactic employed here all too often by people when they don't like what you are saying.
