Life / Womans day in Poland? [242]

you do know that sex is the best cure for headache, or in fact most of those little pains and aches. it releases the happy hormones - endorphins - into your body and takes it all away, better than painkillers. so next time she plays the headache card tell her you have just the cure for it ;)

I can hear it now "your dosage isn't big enough...can you pop out and get me something stronger?" ;)

I don't understand this need to have an "Identity". Just be who you are. Dressing yourself up as a Pole when you don't speak Polish, haven't lived in or even BEEN to Poland, have real Poles 5 gen back...it all seems to desperate as if that is going to make you happy or fill in some void. How about be an American or a Canadian or whatever you truly are and not try to create a character out of the past.

Nah I am not saying she is one of those people but a LOT of women use it against you. The entire Western society shows it when women primp and dress provocatively and men are supposed to "compete" for them. It is funny to watch the supply and demand in certain places...if there are only a couple of cute girls then those girls act differently than if they are one of many and can't have such attitudes.

Then within relationships women have "headaches" and "bargain" for access to a wet hole...it's ridiculous. I blame idiot men for putting up with it as much as I blame the kind of women who play these games.

BTW I'd like to see her in the stockings as well ;) But some girls hear that and say we are sick, sexist pigs, some use it to their benefit, and some are sensible and realize they are only half of a relationship.

A man is a man and a woman is a woman...I just hate these societal games we play.

My god could you be any more blatantly jealous? Sorry you were not born in a more wealthy nation buddy. Maybe you can trade in your envy for some cash?

Then why the f*** you complain about the price of drinks in Poland? when by your own admission same thing is going on in US. Get over yourself; no one will treat you special just because you are a Yank nor can you expect to have good time for free or at the cost, they have to make their money somehow, you on the other hand don't have to spend it there if you're that cheap.

Where did all that come from? Oh yeah it came from your inferiority complex.

I complained about prices all over and you chose to extrapolate an insult to Poland and some idea that I thought I wasn't "special treatment for being American". Thanks for illustrating plain as day the complex that this forum seems infected with and it's love to take shots at the USA at every turn. Your envy is sad.

Oh get off your insults. This trend is all over not just Poland so shove your anti American nonsense up your arse :)

Your envy is transparent and sad.

I am willing to spend money but I am not willing to spend 5 times the normal cost of something because I drink it in a bar and someone hands it to me. Charge me a fair price for a fair product and you get my business over and over again. Sadly many places don't offer that anymore.

Haha right. Try breaking my nose and you won't get respect in return but you will get something. Way to show the sensitivity I speak about so much. Hypocrites.

I don't agree you have more assets to bargain with. Women often think they have some life sustaining gift between their legs but it is only half of the equation. Any woman who thinks she can "bargain" with sex needs to promptly been shown the door....same with a guy. Relationships shouldn't be about favors or bargains.

I clearly said mixed drinks. Shots are still a rip off....you can buy a whole bottle for the cost of 2 or 3.

Aphrodesiac you make so many assumptions.

translation: well, I am gonna ruin it for you, since I was there once and I would love to be there again, but I am not. I let my trousers be the guide and I got burnt, well.......misguided I guess. I am not sure which, but why would he be happy while I am not.

Every man alive has been burnt and those who claim not to are liars. It was advice from experience. Only a moron would not learn from his experiences and I am quite sure you are a moron ;)

I found it the same in Poland. Hardly any bar or restaurant serves strong enough mixed drinks. They are not in the business to lose money. Ice and mixers are used liberally and the drunker people get the less they notice.

It's one of those things I hate about eating/drinking out because if you ask for it to be made stronger they either want to charge you for a "double" (which is more like what most people would consider normal) or they label you and give you bad service.

They make a KILLING on alcohol in most places.

Good luck getting a bar to do that unless you are a regular and spend a lot there. They also serve over priced watered down drinks so it's not like you are getting a good deal.

As un PC is it sounds and as harshly as some of the posters here have put it...a lot of girls don't know what they are getting into and ARE doing it to get back at their parents or prove that "they are the boss". They are naive and want independence and don't have common sense.

Rarely do people from such extremely different cultures do well together.

ny less and the waiter/waitress will be wondering what they did wrong.

They won't be wondering what they did wrong...they will be cursing you for being "cheap". F-stops entitlement attitude exhibit earlier in this thread shows how severs think....they won't be blaming themselves for anything even if they sucked. It will all be put on you as the "cheap" client.

I think his point was how it's used as a weapon or an incentive by women and that pisses a lot of men off. It should be a 50/50 deal and not a "privilege" to be metted out when a woman wants or needs something. But if a guy tried that women would laugh and say they can get it anywhere.

Love is not what you feel when you are flying high in the beginning. That is lust. Love is what replaces lust after a longer term. Love is not a magical feeling it is trust built on experience.

If people would realize this more often there would be a lot less relationship troubles. Too many people make huge choices and have kids etc during the "flying high" period.

Law / The 'Secret' of Poland's Economic Success [83]

If you think the UK is anymore corrupt when it comes to Poland as far as "creative numbers" go then you are deluded. The zl was being "propped up" by creative numbers until the global crisis pulled the legs out from everything. It has been back to normal market values every since.

I am simply saying Polish women are no different than any other women from developed "westernized" nations. Of course compared to a culture that does arranged marriages they would seem "better" but when it boils down to it you get good and bad from any "open" culture so to say "Polish girls are the best" is a bit silly.

Any man who has been in a long term relationship will tell you that the "treating their man like a king" thing is part of the "honeymoon period" and quickly wears off.

Wish you the best but let time/experience be your guide not your trousers.

Most kids are into video games or sports....Media Watch is into obscure TV history relating to Polish jokes. I bet you get picked on a lot right?

What is it with expats and people of long ago Polish decent being more nationalistic that real Poles? You haven't even BEEN to Poland...you are several generations removed apparently... yet you have an obsession with this one obscure idea. It is abnormal.

Life / Doctors taking bribes in Poland [76]

hahaha, that one made my day.

How so? You are aware salaries for doctors in Poland are not high like in the West right? Especially those who work in the government system.

Even the private clinics don't charge anything near what the USA does for example so there isn't the money to pay them 150,000usd a year or more as in the USA.

All the doctors I dealt with in Poland drove basic cars and dressed like everyone else. I know from what I paid at the clinics there is no way they could be making a lot of money.

UK, Ireland / Help Renouncing UK Citizenship and gaining Polish one [24]

They have a new law, that even if you succesfully give up the US citizenship, you still are subject to taxation for next 10 years.

Yeah right. If you gave up your citizenship then the previous country has zero legal standing to tax you. A lawyer would have a field day with that and it sounds like someone trying to stir up anti American sentiment more than anything.

Law / Residency decision letter vs residency card and Poland Visa D [9]

I had that happen once a year ago and it was a non issue. They looked at my passport and stamped me out even though the passport didn't have any current stamp in it. I had the letter ready had they challenged my status. My thought was that the decision letter stated to what date I was legal in Poland and was on official letter head so while they may argue a bit it IS an official statement of your status.

It really just depends on the guard you get...but in the worst imaginable case I am sure the letter would get you out.

Life / Womans day in Poland? [242]

Women love attention...is it any wonder they would like a holiday devoted to THEM?

Western culture is a complete 180 from the oppressive cultures that exist still in some places...would be nice to find a middle ground instead of an extreme at either end. Women rarely want to be equals in the modern world. What they really want are all the advantages they get for being women but also no disadvantages. If they wanted true equality they would en masse deny things like engagement rings...some don't really care but the majority expect and even demand it. If you suggest spending that money on something sensible like paying toward your home you are "unromantic" rather than exhibiting common sense. Women have been conditioned to expect these things in modern society. We like to pretend we are "enlightened" but it is still very much a game of trading things for other things. Prancing around in a mating dance and going through the motions.

I get yelled at half the time time for holding the door open because I am being "sexist" and they can "do it themselves" but who do they call for when something needs to be repaired? Not their girlfriends.

Anyway...until a Men's Day get's as much attention as Women's Day I say boycott it ;)

Fair is fair.

Language / Pimsleur's Polish Lessons [38]

Yeah there is for sure only a 10 day basic and a 30 day Level 1 in Pimsleur Polish.

I find it the best program out there in general and wish they had beyond the 90 days. Rosetta stone didn't work at all for me and is extremely overpriced. I would only even bother with it if you can get a free copy from someone. Pimsleur isn't cheap either but is available on torrents and even if you have to pay you can find companies that will buy them back for a partial refund.

I disagree that reading and writing is that essential in the beginning. It isn't the natural way we learn anyway and Pimsleur focuses on that. Plus they do have written booklets that help you with sounds and those went a long way to helping me understand basic reading in a few languages.

No program is going to take you to fluency and asking of to is about as sensible as expecting your mobile phone to work as well as an SLR or a full sized computer. It is part of a bigger picture.

USA, Canada / Dual citizenship - US doesn't care if you don't give up Polish passport [103]

If you haven't done anything wrong it's not a problem. There is nothing crooked about the process. They just have to verify who you are and what you said you did. It is a very professional and well executed program. They don't "hassle" anyone...they just speak to people that know you and get references etc. I don't see the problem with it. It's not mandatory...you can refuse the job. But if someone is going to be working with sensitive issues they should be vetted. Simple.
