Speaks Polish?: In the Polish version of the EU system, my level might be a weird version of B1.
Interests: cultural experience. I have had occasion to travel to Poland a few times, have come a certain distance with the language, and hope to continue.

News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

A polish friend of mine created the below Facebook group which suggests that surely "the presidential palace has no business remaining behind that cross. (the palace has to go!)"

NIE dla pałacu za Krzyżem Smoleńskim

Dla tych, co nie zgadzają się, by za Krzyżem Smoleńskim na Krakowskim Przedmieściu stał Pałac Prezydencki.

it's all over facebook, too, a few people chanting with strong opinions. but mild compared to other things you can find in Poland, ... or the U.S.!

Study / Want to do a PL course in Krakow this month. Where recommended? [5]

I believe consensus would lead you to look first at the various summer and short courses offered directly by Jagiellonian University. They are grouped by level and are excellent (is what I've heard - I've never taken one myself). You can find information online:

Language / pitu pitu tv - czy gdzies sa napisy? [4]

Hi,

I'm a student of polish, more or less intermediate level, B1 or the like.

I bumped into "Pitu Pitu tv" again as a source of listening training and this time around it's a reasonable level for me; I understand some, most of it is too fast, and there is new vocab, but overall, studyable.

Question: I've looked around for versions with subtitles or even separate "scenariuszy" somewhere online without success. Perhaps it doesn't exist, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone might have any good ideas on where to locate the texts of the clips.

Best Regards,
David

Ah yes, my apologies and thanks!

But do you know the etymology by chance?

Language / jak ulu? [9]

Hi Everyone,

I hope all are enjoying a nice grammatical day today. :-)

My question, in the event someone knows, is the origin of the phrase "jak ulu" as in a phrase such as

- Jak tam dziś w pracy?

- No tak, praca wre jak ulu!

Enjoy!
