Travel / When is the best time (month) to see Poland? [31]

There was a poll about that on here. That may help you too

Nice. Thank you I didn't see that one. Appears to be July.

So what are some spots in Krakow and Wroclaw that are good to see/eat/drink?

Also, we wanted to visit Auschwitz, as that has been a huge part of history, albeit a somber part.

My other advise would be, get an apartment

My Brother was in Paris for Christmas, and he stayed in an apartment, said he would never do a hotel again

Montreal, Canada.

Montreal, great city, cold cold cold, but a lot of fun. Of course I have only been in the winter.

that Baltic sea would be still to cold to swim in it

that is something I didn't even think of (swimming/beach)

I studied in England @ Trinity College, only got to Spain and Italy, along with all over the UK, but didn't get to travel nearly as much as I would have liked.

It depends, if your father is old

He is 63, so not that old. We live in Boston so weather is probably similar in Winter. I do like scenery! He would too. What are the average temps?

I have have heard that Krakow is the place to be over Warsaw, is that true?

Definitely want to be able to walk around and not freeze, was thinking late spring or summer. I would like to do some touristy stuff, as well as drink at the pubs. Go to a sporting event. I like to take a lot of pictures as well. Any festivals that we should go to?

What is the best time of year to visit Poland

Spring/Summer/Fall? Planning a trip with my Father and Brother. Is there a month that has better weather than others, or certain things to do certain times of year. I would really appreciate the help.

Work / It's no work in Poland [20]

Jan 28, 10, 23:02 - Thread attached on merging:
Wyborowa

I know there is a post in here somewhere about this, but does anyone know why they do not import Wyborowa to the States anymore? Is it coming back? I have to get it from Canada.

Ha why did I put this in the relationships post? haha.

Food / Polish culinary dislikes [83]

Is there plenty of sushi in Poland?

I love sushi, never had it in the Great White North though...I'm banned from Quebec haha.

I know i know, he just rubs me the wrong way sometimes. Like he is constantly unhappy with where he just was, and is only happy with where he is a present.

I love cooking, trying to make duck confit with an orange marmalade glaze this weekend...Mmm duck is sooo tasty. Oyster stuffing to go with that, saw it on Good Eats.

Language / Does anyone know where I can learn Polish for free? [35]

Not what he was looking for

Clearly understood that, just giving a different option. Personally, for me, it is easier to learn on my own, rather than have someone teach me.

No reservations is hands down the best food related tv out there

I like Good Eats with Alton Brown and Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman. I like No Reservations but Bourdain is too much of a cynic for me. Dont like his "tude"

Grilled deer burgers is where it's at. Good lord, nothing better. A nice slab of brisket is also up there if you have the time :)

I like Venison burgers as well. Go bow hunting in the fall every year. Just get one...leave the rest alone. But nothing beats pig roast...my lord what a treat.

Love / How do Polish boys feel about foreign girls? [163]

Materialism is a disease. Thank you Americar! Thank you British Colonists! Thank you stupid
former Eastern Blok women for making Poles look like d$%ks.

Yes, zero greed in Australia...riiiiiight

Well Americans grill too, though not necessarily that well. I'd say that Polish people are better at grilling than Americans, but barbecue is another experience entirely for anyone who grew up with it (some Americans mix the two terms too, but purists make a distinction).

wooo wooo wooo easy there cowboy, saying that Americans don't BBQ well is an insult, I think besides, Baseball and Football(American Football) BBQ is our pastime. Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs, Shrimp, Lobster, Fish, Chicken, Kabobs...my mouth is watering right now thinking about it. I have chickens ready to go tonight with a smokey mesquite BBQ sauce.

Basically if you can kill it, we can grill it!

USA, Canada / Wyborowa or Luksusowa Wódka - where to buy in the US?! [26]

Ok I have never had it at all, but this is making me want it, as if it were the forbidden fruit. I am going to try the LCBO since Ontario is closest to me...well Quebec is but if there is anything that is worse than the French, it is French Canadiens! Except for the fact that they brought us Hockey, god love them for that.

Food / OKOCIM PORTER BETTER THAN GUINNESS STOUT? [43]

The Irish will most certainly say no, but they are two different styles of Porter in my mind, both very delicious. Okocim has more alcohol, while Guinness is smoother. So it depends on what you are looking for. I like Murphy's Irish Stout the best!
